Chapter 2
Chapter 2
My parents were much calmer than I imagined, and they even called for my elder brother, Su Ze.
The expressions on the three of their faces made me realize something in an instant.
“You’ve known for a long time that I’m not your biological daughter?”
I should have known. Everyone in the Su Family is as sharp as a tack; I was the only fool. If even I could see that I didn’t look like them, how could they not have noticed?
Su Ze looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated. My parents simply asked if what I said was true.
I told them we could go and see for ourselves.
I led them to the Liu Family home. Liu Ying was being beaten again. It seemed Liu Qiang had lost a video game, and because Liu Ying happened to call him for dinner at that moment, he took it out on her.
The Su Family bodyguards quickly pinned Liu Qiang and Liu Wei down.
Just as I had said, the moment they saw Liu Ying, they knew she was their biological child.
The Liu Family and Aunt Li were all brought under control. Seeing the scars on Liu Ying’s body, my parents and Su Ze were heartbroken, pulling her into their arms and weeping.
I stood to the side, feeling both sorrowful and awkward.
Aunt Li actually had the nerve to shout about how she had raised a child for the Su Family for all these years and demanded child support. Then, she turned her venom on me, cursing me for being heartless and ungrateful.
They glared at me with such ferocity, it was as if they wanted to skin me alive.
“What good does it do you if this family suffers? Su Wanwan, you idiot! Do you really think they’ll keep you around now that you’ve exposed us?”
My parents ignored them.
With a loud thud, I fell to my knees.
“Mom, Dad, I beg you, please take me in for just a few more years. I’ll leave as soon as I get into college; I promise I won’t cling to you. I’ll write an IOU for all the living expenses over the years and pay you back once I have money. I can work as a maid in the house. I can do chores.”
I would never go back to the Liu Family. That place was a den of wolves.
My parents negotiated with the Liu Family. They agreed not to press charges for child trafficking, but they insisted on taking both me and Liu Ying back with them.
The Liu Family tried to extort them, claiming that if there were two daughters, one had to stay behind.
They thought my parents loved me, so they tried to use me as leverage for money, showing absolutely no concern for what my life would be like with them.
I stood to the side, head bowed, weeping.
My biological parents were actually such shameless scum.
“Even if you sue us for trafficking, you have no evidence. It was just a mix-up at the hospital.”
With tears streaming down my face, I shouted back, “One was a private hospital and the other was public! How could there be a mix-up? Do you think everyone is a fool?”
Su Ze glanced at me with an unreadable expression.
Now that he knew I wasn’t his biological sister and that I came from parents like these, he must despise me, right?
After all, I carried those same foul genes.
My parents then produced their evidence: a surveillance video of Aunt Li speaking to me in the kitchen.
It clearly showed her admitting to swapping me and Liu Ying.
Both Aunt Li and I were stunned.
It turned out that regardless of whether I had reported it or not, they already knew.
In the end, to avoid prison, the Liu Family had no choice but to compromise.
I followed them back to the Su Family home, my heart filled with trepidation. I went straight to my room, intending to pack my school supplies and some simple clothes to move out.
Everything in here belonged to Liu Ying-no, she should be called Su Ying now. None of it was mine.
But my parents came upstairs and pulled me into an embrace.
“Wanwan, you are a good child whom we raised ourselves. You will always be our child. You don’t need to move out, and you certainly don’t need to be a maid. We will continue to raise you.”
Su Ze watched me silently from behind them, but he nodded in agreement.
I cried as I thanked them and apologized.
Beyond those words, I didn’t know what else to say.
Su Ying stood at the doorway, watching us cry. Her expression remained detached and indifferent throughout.
I thought she must hate me to death. She had every right to hate me. Whether intentional or not, I had occupied her life as the eldest miss of the Su Family for thirteen years.
While I lived a life of luxury in the Su Family, having everything handed to me, she was being beaten and scolded by the Liu Family, working herself to the bone to serve those two men.
Just thinking about it made me feel sick with anger.
