Chapter 3

Afterward, he sank into unbearable guilt.

He typed and played the message aloud: “I’m a bad person. I’ve wronged Mr. Qin. I’ll stop accepting his financial support.”

The way he looked so solemn about it was honestly adorable. My heart almost melted.

I patted his head, then kissed his cheek.

“You don’t need to feel guilty. He has women outside too. Our marriage only exists in name now.”

Jiang Songye froze.

I took his phone and saved my number in it.

“If you really want to repay me, then let’s make a deal.

“From now on, I’ll cover all of your mother’s medical expenses. All you have to do is keep me company every weekend.”

After all, I was a normal person too. I had normal physical needs.

Qin Huai was dirty now. I didn’t want to use him.

Jiang Songye was exceptionally innocent. He was far too serious, but that also made him easy to coax.

On top of that, he really did need money right now. With just a few words, I managed to coax him into agreeing.

I comforted him.

“No one will know.

“You’re not a bad person. You’re my little darling.”

Jiang Songye couldn’t take teasing at all. He was so embarrassed he looked like he wanted to take off his hearing aids.

After adding his contact information, I video-called him every day.

Jiang Songye couldn’t speak, so no matter what I said, he would either nod or shake his head.

Taking full advantage of the fact that he couldn’t talk, I teased him every single day.

Watching a pure college boy blush with embarrassment really made life worth living.

Being with Jiang Songye let me rediscover the passion I’d had back when I was dating.

I even forgot that ever since Qin Huai had that one-sided fight with me last time, he hadn’t come home in ages.

My lover was obedient, my husband didn’t come home, and life was starting to look more and more promising.

I had just coaxed Jiang Songye into taking off his shirt so I could admire his abs, and had only just hung up the call, when Qin Huai came back.

He pushed open the bedroom door without turning on the light.

He lay down beside me, reached out to pull me into his arms, and called me affectionately, “Yinyin, I love you.”

So he’d had his fun outside and was feeling guilty now.

He tried to kiss me, but the moment I thought about where that mouth of his might have kissed Ye Liu, I felt sick.

Without thinking, I shoved him away. Qin Huai froze for a moment.

Then he asked me, “Are you still angry?”

He sighed helplessly. “I’ll apologize, okay? It was all my fault. I shouldn’t have been so harsh with you that day.”

I kept playing innocent. “Honey, what are you talking about? I just feel bad that you’re working so hard. You should get some proper rest.”

Qin Huai frowned.

He could tell something was wrong.

But he couldn’t say what.

We hadn’t been intimate in a long time. Ye Liu was so clingy that she’d already kept him distracted from me for ages.

Now he’d finally come back looking for me.

And I didn’t want him.

How could he not find that strange?

I knew Qin Huai still loved me.

Because I understood him, so I knew what he was like when he loved someone.

It was just that now, he kept love and the body very clearly separate.

He loved me, but that didn’t stop him from fooling around with other women outside and chasing thrills.

The seventeen-year-old boy could say he loved me with sincerity.

The twenty-seven-year-old Qin Huai could say he loved me too.

But the Qin Huai of today was no longer the Qin Huai he had once been.

He tried hard to ignore the strange feeling in his heart.

Holding me, he gently pressed his face against the back of my neck.

“Honey, you’re so good to me.”

Then, by the light of the bedside lamp, he noticed the hickey on the back of my neck.

“What’s this?”

He shot upright, his brows tightly furrowed, his expression dark as he stared fixedly at the mark.

I reached up and touched it.

Then I remembered. It was from the day Jiang Songye said he wanted to repay me.

At first, he’d looked like I was forcing an innocent man into prostitution, but once he got carried away, he had sucked that mark onto me himself.

Without so much as changing expression, I lied, “A mosquito bite. The pest control at home hasn’t been very good lately.”
