Chapter 47

Doctor Lan smiled and said, “Don’t be afraid.”

Fatty shook even more violently.

Yun Youyou gave a small smile and comforted him, “Cutting off a head is very fast; it’ll be over in a second.”

Fatty was even more terrified now, nearly wetting himself.

“Are you just going to cut it like that? Horizontally or vertically?”

Yun Youyou controlled her tentacles, gesturing along Fatty’s neck.

She wasn’t very skilled at controlling the tentacles yet. Occasionally, she would accidentally slap Fatty’s face, and one tentacle even curiously poked its way into Fatty’s mouth.

Fatty: “Pah! Pah! Pah!”

It was one thing to cut off his head, but how could she insult him like this!

Doctor Lan scrutinized the area with a professional eye and lightly pointed to a spot with his finger.

“Let’s start the cut from here. It’ll be more symmetrical that way.”

It seemed Doctor Lan was also a bit of a perfectionist.

With the help of Yun Youyou’s tentacles, the head-swapping process went much faster.

Yun Youyou controlled two tentacles, assigning one to each head.

Three, two, one!

Two heads fell neatly from their necks.

Doctor Lan picked up a head and marveled, “Both the cut surface and the neatness are far superior to what I can achieve with machines. The medical world needs talent like you.”

Yun Youyou wagged her tail proudly.

She didn’t have a tail, so she could only wag her tentacles proudly instead.

The tentacles were even more smug than Yun Youyou, seemingly wanting to show off further as they hovered eagerly over Fatty’s two hands.

If Yun Youyou hadn’t stopped them in time, the tentacles probably would have sliced Fatty into a hundred and eight neat pieces.

Fatty’s head shouted indignantly from Doctor Lan’s hands, “Are you two finished yet! If you don’t sew me back on soon, I’m going to see my ancestors! I just wanted to lose weight, not lose my head!”

He had been quite scared at first, but the feeling of having his head held by someone was truly bizarre.

Especially since this doctor kept chatting with the beautiful nurse, showing no sense of responsibility at all.

Fatty rolled his eyes speechlessly.

He really didn’t see what there was to praise.

During the subsequent head-reattachment surgery, Yun Youyou’s tentacles proved to be extremely useful.

Not only could they pass needles and thread to Doctor Lan, but they could also hold the patients still. The extra tentacles even cheered Doctor Lan on, forming heart shapes in the air or reaching over to massage Doctor Lan’s shoulders.

Doctor Lan was amused. A gentle smile played on his lips, and his long eyelashes trembled slightly. He radiated warmth like sunlight breaking through the mist.

If one ignored the human head he was currently sewing, Yun Youyou might have actually thought he was some bright, handsome young man.

Seeing Yun Youyou watching his movements curiously, Doctor Lan simply stepped aside. “Want to give it a try?”

Yun Youyou’s hands had been itching for a while now.

She had never tried something as fun as sewing on a human head before.

“Can I really?”

Yun Youyou’s eyes were bright, like they were filled with stars. Her anticipation was so palpable it was practically overflowing; no one could have the heart to refuse her.

“Of course you can.”

Doctor Lan handed the needle and thread to Yun Youyou. “It’s very simple. Just push the needle in here, bring it out there, and finally tie a knot here. Don’t be afraid; it doesn’t matter even if you sew it wrong.”

Fatty: “…”

Of course it doesn’t matter to you! It’s my head you’re sewing!

How noble of you, using my head to flirt with the nurse!
Fatty had his grievances, but Fatty didn’t dare say a word.

His head was still in someone else’s hands. Endure for a moment and your head stays safe; take a step back and the stitches look nicer.

Yun Youyou carefully worked the needle and thread, sewing Fatty’s head back on.

After both of them were stitched up, Yun Youyou looked at the two people who’d successfully had their heads swapped, feeling immensely satisfied.

Skinny had abruptly been switched into a massive, bloated body, and his movements-once light-became slow and clumsy.

He stared, eyes wide in amazement.

This felt way too strange.

Fatty, on the other hand, curiously explored the body he’d just been switched into.

“Holy crap! I feel like my whole body’s about to float away. What’s the difference between me and that bamboo pole outside?”

Before long, his stomach suddenly let out a loud growl.

Fatty looked embarrassed. “I’m so hungry right now. Is there anything to eat?”

Unfortunately, neither Yun Youyou nor Doctor Lan had any food.

Fatty turned to look at Skinny.

He hadn’t thought so before, but now, seeing his own bloated body paired with Skinny’s gaunt little face, it looked bizarre no matter how he looked at it.

“So I really was that fat?!” Fatty cried out.

He circled Skinny again and again.

Doctor Lan picked up his toolbox. “Every so often, I’ll swap you two back. That way, both of your weights will meet the standard.”

Fatty said excitedly, “Doctor Lan, you really can bring the dead back to life with those hands! Give it some time and I’ll have a silk banner made for you. I’ll write: ‘Swap a head, swap a head-never worry about going hungry!'”

Yun Youyou: “…”

What a poem! Truly-a great poem!

Fatty was very satisfied with his new body.

Now he could eat as much as he wanted without worrying about getting fat.

Doctor Lan didn’t refuse his kindness. He only smiled and said, “No need to thank me. It’s what I should do.”

Along the way, Yun Youyou had witnessed Doctor Lan’s strange methods of treatment.

Now she understood.

There was no illness Doctor Lan couldn’t cure-only patients who didn’t know how to read the room.

No wonder Doctor Lan looked handsome and refined, yet turned out to be the neighboring Instance’s Boss. He’d been hiding his true abilities!

Doctor Lan’s wristband suddenly vibrated.

He stopped. “Sorry, let me check a message.”

Yun Youyou stopped as well, waiting nearby.

Not long after, Doctor Lan finished reading.

“There’s a small situation in my Instance. I need to go back and deal with it first.”

After quickly reading the information, Doctor Lan decided to head back.

Several more Players had suddenly appeared in that Instance, and a riot had broken out.

It was probably the Game’s system glitching.

It had actually let Players from other Instances into his Instance.

Yun Youyou blinked in understanding and said considerately, “Then hurry back. Don’t let me delay you.”

Doctor Lan apologized again and started walking forward.

Then he paused, turned around, and came back.

He stopped in front of Yun Youyou. “Do you want to come take a look at my Instance?”

Yun Youyou’s first reaction was: “If I visit another Instance, the Game won’t dock my pay, will it?”

Doctor Lan chuckled. “Of course not. You’ll be going to help me. I’ll apply to the Game to give you a bit more Experience Points.”

“Then let’s go!”

Yun Youyou headed forward excitedly.

She’d never visited another Instance during work hours before. This counted as a paid vacation, right?

(A completely brainless, silly story)
