Chapter 3

I tried all kinds of methods, only to realize I couldn’t beat the heroine’s plot armor.

So I thought, if I could at least disgust them a little, that wouldn’t be so bad.

That was why I approached Xu Heyi.

I pretended to be deeply in love with him.

His parents were very pleased with me, and his friends couldn’t stop praising me.

But on the second day after our engagement, Tang Xiawen rushed back to the country in a frenzy.

She really had developed retrograde amnesia after the snowstorm accident.

But when she heard my fiancé was named Xu Heyi, everything came crashing back to her all at once.

Right after that, I witnessed a scene straight out of a melodrama.

Tang Xiawen, looking delicate enough to sway in the wind, walked up to Xu Heyi and played a piano piece for him.

“Xu Heyi, open your eyes and look carefully. I’m the one who survived that snowstorm with you!”

“I told you before that the mole at the corner of my eye was my most distinctive feature. How could you forget?”

Xu Heyi was shocked. He turned to look at me.

“What the hell is going on? Tang Xuesheng, explain yourself.”

I smiled until my eyes curved, my voice sweet as honey. “Ah He, you’re so fierce. Didn’t you promise me last night that you’d never be fierce with me again?”

Tang Xiawen’s little face instantly went pale.

I kept smiling. “Ah He, I’m the one who’s been by your side day and night. You can decide for yourself who to believe.”

Even so, my lie collapsed very quickly.

Tang Xiawen had our parents testify.

Two years ago, she had been the only one who went to Altay.

She was also the one who played the piano.

Her wrist hadn’t been injured.

And ever since we were little, the mole at the corner of her eye had been the biggest difference between her and me.

But there was still one suspicious point.

Why did I know everything that had happened on the day of the snowstorm accident?

Faced with Xu Heyi’s questioning, Tang Xiawen hesitated for an instant before answering, “I told my sister before.”

Haha. She lied.

She had never told me.

I knew because I’d read the original novel myself.

I guessed she was confused too.

But if she didn’t lie like that, there was no way to rule me out completely.

The Xu and Tang families were thrown into chaos by me, and the engagement could only be called off.

Relatives and friends heard about all of this from who knew where, and one after another, they came to scold me for being shameless.

My parents said I was a disgrace to the Tang family, and that I would have been better off dying in that mountain hollow.

The angrier they got, the happier I became.

It felt wonderful to make things difficult for a bunch of hypocrites.

The last time I saw Xu Heyi, he was taking Tang Xiawen to pick out a diamond ring.

Because of what I’d done, Xu Heyi had lost a great deal of face, and he also felt guilty toward Tang Xiawen.

That forced him to make it up to her as soon as possible.

The moment I appeared, Tang Xiawen grew nervous and clutched Xu Heyi’s arm, as if afraid I would snatch him away.

“Don’t worry. Big Sister got tired of sleeping with him ages ago,” I said.

A flicker of restrained anger surfaced on Xu Heyi’s face.

“Tang Xuesheng, is there a single word of truth in your mouth?”

“Probably… not.”

“I knew it. That trafficking incident was fake too, wasn’t it? To throw dirt on Wenwen, you actually made up a lie like that!”

I glanced at Tang Xiawen.

Her lips were trembling from guilt.

After waiting a while and seeing that she didn’t dare admit it, I gave a light laugh. “Oh. Yes.”

Xu Heyi’s expression filled with disappointment in an instant. The way he looked at me was both icy and disgusted.

“You’re too vicious, Tang Xuesheng. I don’t want to see you again.”

I said, “Don’t be in such a hurry. I’m only here today to deliver a wedding gift.”

“I don’t want your gift!” Tang Xiawen said.

“If you don’t want it, fine. I’ll give it to the groom-to-be.”

I tossed the gift box into Xu Heyi’s arms.

After a moment of hesitation, he pulled open the ribbon.

Inside was a box packed full of grape gummies.

The scent of grape drifted out through the packaging.

Soft, gentle, and sweet.

Xu Heyi went completely rigid.

As he wished, once I delivered the gift, I left.

And I left completely.

Only later did I learn that in the end, those two never got together.

Because Xu Heyi awakened very soon after.

The day he saw the plot of the original book was the fifth month after I disappeared from his world.

He nearly went insane.

I stole my sister’s man.

During the year she was abroad, the man she’d been longing for all these years came to me with her photo in hand.

“Do you know the girl in...
