Chapter 5
Chapter 5
This time, she was wearing a pink short-sleeved dress. She looked like she was in a bad mood, sitting on the edge of the bed with her head lowered.
“What’s your name?”
I asked softly.
The girl covered her face, sobbing her heart out.
I walked over and comforted her gently. “What happened? Why are you crying?”
The girl lifted her head and suddenly grabbed my arm. “Han Yuanshan, save me, please. He’s going to kill me!”
What?
Who was going to kill you?!
I jolted awake in an instant.
When I woke up, I was drenched in cold sweat from head to toe.
I glanced at my watch. 1:15 a.m.
This was the third time I’d dreamed of her.
I quickly opened my phone and searched online…
“Is it possible to dream of the same strange girl three days in a row, and for her to be someone from more than thirty years ago?”
As expected, the search results were vague and all over the place.
Some said dreams didn’t appear out of thin air and were reflections of reality. Others said nightmares could be caused by too much stress.
I poured myself a glass of water, then opened the backend of my livestreaming account.
Among the many profanity-laced private messages, one caught my attention.
“Hello, streamer. I’ve been following you for a while, and I really like your adventurous spirit and sense of humor. During tonight’s stream, I saw you drawing a girl by hand. May I ask who she is to you? Your girlfriend? A relative? This is very important to me. I hope you’ll reply.”
I frowned.
Judging by his tone, he seemed to know the girl from my dream.
I clicked on his avatar to check his profile.
His username was “Si Ma Nan Zhui.” There was nothing on his homepage; it was a private account. His IP location showed Canada.
Doing the math, it should be morning in Canada right now.
After thinking for a moment, I replied, “Hello. The girl I drew is someone I met by chance. Do you know her?”
Since this was an international conversation, I was already prepared to receive his reply tomorrow-or for him to never reply at all.
I had just been about to head to the bathroom when he replied.
Si Ma Nan Zhui: “So you met her by chance. Still, for there to be someone who looks that similar in this world… that’s quite amazing. Thank you for answering, streamer. I appreciate it.”
I hurriedly typed back, “Sorry if this is rude, but the girl you know who looks like her-is she your…?”
Si Ma Nan Zhui: “She was my middle school classmate. She’s been dead for many years.”
My heart lurched. “Dead?”
Si Ma Nan Zhui: “Yes. She passed away in 1993. Sigh. Before I knew it, more than thirty years had gone by.”
I swallowed. “What was her name?”
Si Ma Nan Zhui didn’t reply right away.
Five minutes later, his message came through.
“Bai Yanmei.”
My scalp prickled tight in an instant, and I whipped my head toward the rosewood cabinet against the wall.
Inside the cabinet, the name “Bai Yanmei” had been carved into it.
To be honest, I wouldn’t even be scared copying tombstone inscriptions in a graveyard in the middle of the night.
But in that moment, I truly felt a chill crawl up my spine.
