Chapter 12
Chapter 12
I drove for nearly an hour before I finally arrived.
It was one of the bigger home furnishing and building materials markets in the city, with shops sprawled every which way.
It was raining today. The dirt had soaked up the water and turned into uneven pits of sludge, splattering my car until it was a complete mess.
I asked around briefly at the market entrance and found Zhicheng Home Furnishings without much trouble.
The shop wasn’t big. Tile samples stood outside the entrance, while inside were toilets, doors and windows, boards, and the like.
There weren’t many customers today. The owner was lying on a rattan chair by the door with a pillow towel over his stomach, scrolling through short videos.
He looked about thirty, with a buzz cut and a tall, skinny build. One leg was curled up, while the other stretched lazily off the chair.
A fly had been sitting on his toes for quite a while, and he couldn’t even be bothered to shoo it away.
I rolled down the window and whistled at him. “Hey, buddy.”
The shopkeeper sat up with a smile plastered across his face. “What are you looking for, sir? Come on in and take a look.”
I raised my phone and waved it at him. “You’re the one who sold me this cabinet, right? Lin Zhicheng.”
When enemies meet, their eyes burn especially red.
The smile on Lin Zhicheng’s face froze instantly. He slowly stood up and tossed the pillow towel onto the rattan chair. “So you’re here to make trouble today?”
I raised an eyebrow.
Lin Zhicheng narrowed his eyes, sizing up me and my car. “Oh, I recognize you. You’re that adventure influencer, aren’t you? You already drive a Mercedes G-Class, and you’re still fussing over a few thousand yuan?”
I let out a scoff. “No matter what car I drive, that doesn’t mean you get to take me for a sucker.”
Lin Zhicheng lifted his chin high. “Call the police or sue me if you want. I’ve saved all our chat records anyway. You were the one who insisted on buying it. Who can you blame?”
I curled my lips and patted the car body. “Fine. I’ve got money and free time anyway. I’ll be sure to hire the best lawyer and drag this out with you to the very end.”
“And if I get too bored, I’ll turn the whole experience of being scammed into a warning video for my followers.”
“Whether that affects your business, Boss Lin, well, I couldn’t say.”
Lin Zhicheng glared at me viciously for a long while, then ground out through clenched teeth, “Fine. Return the goods and I’ll refund you.”
I took out a cigarette. “I’m not returning it.”
Lin Zhicheng clenched his fists. “Then what do you want?”
I tossed the cigarette to Lin Zhicheng. “The deal still stands. But you have to tell me about the name carved inside the cabinet-Bai Yanmei.”
