Chapter 4
Chapter 4
To my surprise, Wei Huaiqi came to see me again that very night.
I had just finished bathing and changed into simple white robes. My hair hung loose over my shoulders as I emerged from the bamboo grove.
I ran into him unexpectedly.
When he saw me, his lips thinned slightly, and he averted his gaze.
“What is Your Majesty doing here?”
Our eyes met.
“I came to see you. Are you dissatisfied?”
His voice was laced with mockery.
I stopped speaking and turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist.
I looked back at him.
He stared at me and let out a cold laugh.
“The Queen tried to cause Hongli to miscarry. Is it not because you are jealous of her?”
I don’t know what madness possessed him, but he forcibly swept me up into his arms and strode toward the inner palace.
“Since that is the case, you shall bear one as well.”
He was truly insane.
“Wei Huaiqi, you’re mad! Let me go…”
I was pinned down on the couch, using every ounce of my strength to try and break free from him.
But Siming Jun had written me into the Trial Ledger.
Once entered into the Destiny Register, one’s magic is suppressed.
I was like a mortal woman, without even the strength to truss a chicken.
Not to mention, I had just endured the Heavenly Thunder. My Immortal Bone was fractured, and his movements jolted my entire body, causing such intense pain that I could hardly control myself.
Wei Huaiqi pinned my hands down and leaned in to kiss me.
I had never felt such despair. I closed my eyes slightly, tears welling up beneath my lids.
There were only three days left. Why did I have to endure this torture now?
I looked up at him, my voice softening.
“Wei Huaiqi, I was wrong. I will apologize to Hongli tomorrow.”
My voice hitched with a sob.
“Don’t do this… I’m injured. It hurts so much. I’m telling the truth.”
Wei Huaiqi finally let go of me.
He looked at my tear-stained face, but his expression grew even more somber.
“Since you claim to be injured, I will have someone examine you. Stop putting on an act. I won’t have people thinking you traveled all this way to marry me only to be mistreated in the Wei Palace.”
A medicine man was called to take my pulse.
Wei Huaiqi stepped aside.
His gaze inadvertently fell upon the blood-stained robes I had just changed out of.
He picked them up himself. As he saw the fresh blood, his face turned slightly pale for a moment.
“You… how could you be so severely injured?”
He seemed anxious.
I pulled my hand back indifferently.
“Medicine man, how is the Queen?”
The medicine man knelt in terror.
“Your Majesty, please forgive my lack of skill. The Queen’s health is excellent; she has merely caught a slight chill.”
Hearing this, Wei Huaiqi lowered his eyes and stared at me for a long time.
He looked back at the robes in his hand, his grip suddenly tightening.
“Summon more. Bring every medicine man in the palace here.”
He stood up and looked at me, enunciating every word:
“Give the Queen a proper examination.”
A stream of medicine men were summoned into the hall, only to retreat one after another.
Naturally, they could diagnose nothing.
The mortal body of Yue Nu that Siming Jun had prepared for me had been charred black and hideously mangled by the very first strike of Heavenly Thunder.
That blood belonged to Yue Nu.
This current body was being maintained by my divine soul.
How could a mortal physician possibly diagnose anything from my pulse?
Wei Huaiqi tilted his head back and laughed mockingly.
“Over seventy medicine men, and not one can diagnose the Queen’s illness. It seems the Queen’s sickness lies in her heart.”
He loosened his grip.
The blood-stained robes fell to the floor.
He ground his foot heavily into them.
“A woman who spends all her energy on nothing but schemes and trickery.”
He grabbed my chin and leaned forward, glaring at me.
“Even if you beg me, I will never touch you again.”
Beg him?
In all of heaven and earth, when had I ever begged him?
From the very beginning, he was the one who came to beg me, and only then did this romance begin.
I raised my eyes, meeting his gaze with a cold stare.
“Then Your Majesty must wait for the day I beg you before you can truly humiliate me.”
Wei Huaiqi’s pupils constricted. He pressed his lips tight, his breathing ragged with fury.
His grip on my chin suddenly tightened.
“Do not forget to apologize to Hongli tomorrow!”
After he left, I could no longer support myself and collapsed onto the bed.
It was likely because Minhua’s divine power was gradually recovering.
To think it would injure me to this extent.
