Chapter 1

When Siming Jun was summoned by me,

I was bound to the city walls of the Wei Kingdom, having just endured eighteen strikes of Heavenly Thunder.

In this mortal body, my hair was a tangled mess and my white robes were stained with blood.

To say I was in a wretched state would be an understatement.

“Immortal Qingyue, you…”

Siming Jun was so terrified he nearly fell to his knees.

I lowered my head and moved my fingers, only to find that my Immortal Bone was faintly cracking.

I let out a helpless, bitter smile.

“I’ve made a fool of myself in front of Siming Jun. To think I, an Immortal Lord, would be reduced to such a state by that Little Carp.”

I had once followed Minhua to battle in every corner of the world, yet I had never been so gravely injured.

Siming untied my restraints.

He couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.

“It has only been a few days since we parted at the city gates and you entered the Wei Palace.”

In the heavens, it had only been a few days.

For me, it had been years.

Bitterness filled my heart, my throat trembled, and I let out a long sigh.

“Siming, my Immortal Bone is damaged. It is time for me to return to the Nine Heavens to cultivate.”

Siming Jun deeply agreed.

But then he remembered an urgent matter.

“You came here to assist Divine Lord Minhua in passing his mortal tribulation. How should that matter be concluded?”

The biting cold wind brushed against my face.

I wiped the blood from my lips, remained silent for a long while, and then gently waved my hand.

“Let him be. You only need to write a fate of early death for me in the Book of Fate.”

Siming Jun understood my intent.

With a vermilion brush in one hand, he opened the Book of Fate with the other.

“Immortal Lord, how about I write that Yue Nu was ‘consumed by a love too deep to last’?”

I nodded. “Fine.”

I quietly watched the script appearing on the Book of Fate-

Yue Nu, Queen of the Wei Kingdom. Husband: Wei Huaiqi. No offspring. Consumed by a love too deep to last.

The vermilion ink had dried; there was no turning back.

Siming Jun put away his brush and book, vanishing into the night like a mist.

“The Book of Fate is in motion. In three days of the mortal realm, you may return to the Nine Heavens.”

The Thunder Punishment ceased.

In the darkness, a fine drizzle began to fall.

Drenched from head to toe, I appeared by the city wall like a lonely ghost.

Step by step, I made my way down the stone stairs.

My maid, Luxiao, came running to meet me, holding an umbrella and a cloak.

However, she was blocked at the bottom of the stairs by long halberds gleaming with a cold light.

“By order of Your Majesty, no one is allowed on the city wall except for the Queen while she serves her punishment!”

The “Your Majesty” they spoke of was my mortal husband, Wei Huaiqi.

He was also the reincarnation of Divine Lord Minhua from the Nine Heavens.

The soldiers faced Luxiao, crossing their halberds to press her back.

“Stop!”

I quickened my pace, heading down and pushing the two soldiers aside.

In the blurred darkness, Luxiao only saw the blood covering me once she was close.

“Your Highness…”

She panicked for a moment, her hands trembling.

The handle of the umbrella slipped from her grasp and fell to the ground, tumbling in the wind until it stopped at the feet of a group of people.

Madam Red Carp kicked the edge of the umbrella away, an innocent smile playing on her lips.

“Your Majesty, is this the Heavenly Punishment the Queen spoke of? It just seemed like some thunder and lightning. Her Majesty can still move about quite freely.”

Wei Huaiqi frowned and looked at me silently.

Luxiao wrapped the cloak around me, leaving me where I stood.

She ran off into the rain to retrieve the umbrella from the ground.

Suddenly, a canopy moved over my head.

I looked up and into those eyes, momentarily dazed.

It was the sovereign, Wei Huaiqi, holding the umbrella for me.

But he only met my gaze for a second before a flash of disgust crossed his eyes.

“Queen, Hongli is pregnant, yet you claimed her origin was inauspicious and that she would suffer lightning strikes, causing her to lose sleep all night. I punished you to listen to the thunder atop the city wall in hopes that you would learn your lesson.”

The pain from the cracks in my Immortal Bone flared constantly, making it almost impossible for me to focus on what he was saying.

But he said… I was only meant to “listen” to the thunder.

I was stunned for a moment.

Hongli walked over, surrounded by attendants, looking at me with a timid gaze.

“Sister Queen, I simply had a child with my beloved, yet you said I would be struck by lightning from the heavens. I was truly terrified.”

She looked up at Wei Huaiqi, her eyes filled with endless infatuation.

“Fortunately, to put my mind at ease, His Majesty had you personally verify that this so-called Heavenly Punishment does not exist in this world.”

I understood now.

Eighteen strikes of Heavenly Thunder had descended upon the world.

In the eyes of mortals, it was nothing more than a sky full of dark clouds and passing flashes of lightning.

No wonder Hongli dared to scheme against me like this.

She was gambling.

She gambled that even the high and mighty Divine Lord Minhua would fail to recognize a Heavenly Punishment after reincarnating for his mortal tribulation.

He had even pushed his own beloved into it.

Sure enough, Wei Huaiqi looked at me coldly.

“The Queen was able to walk down from the tower unscathed. It is clear you were merely spreading delusions to deceive the people. Do you still refuse to admit your fault?”

Admit my fault?

My greatest fault was descending to the mortal realm for the sake of Minhua.

To take this journey, only to be met with such heartlessness and wasted humiliation.
