Chapter 73
Chapter 73
“Hello, miss.”
A man wearing a Vampire Mask greeted her.
Lin Junruo was still being held in someone’s arms. Hearing his voice, her face grew even paler. It felt as if she could only hear the sound of her own heartbeat; all the surrounding noise was gradually fading away.
She could only see the person in front of her, his lips moving behind the Vampire Mask, though she couldn’t make out what he was saying.
In her field of vision, the man leaned down slightly, appearing as if he were about to close the distance. Lin Junruo felt as though the blood in her entire body had frozen solid at that moment.
Was this the end for her?
A sense of profound sorrow rose in Lin Junruo’s heart.
Just as the man was about to touch her, he suddenly paused. He straightened his back and pulled away from her.
Lin Junruo felt the breath she had been holding in her throat finally escape in a heavy exhale. The moment she let it out, the loud music of the Bar flooded back into her ears.
Never before had she felt that this ear-splitting music was so beautiful.
The man turned around and looked behind him.
Just now, right as he was about to lean down and give Lin Junruo the Embrace, someone had suddenly tapped him on the back and said, “Young man, excuse me for a moment.”
The man looked at the elderly woman before him. She was also wearing a Vampire Mask, but he could still see traces of her silver-white hair.
“Is something the matter?” the man asked.
Qi Shuping smiled and pointed at Lin Junruo. “I’m sorry, this little girl is with me.” As she spoke, Qi Shuping pointed to her own mask. “We’d like to play by ourselves.”
The man gave a soft snort and asked, “Why should I hand her over to you?” As he spoke, he reached out again, trying to grab Lin Junruo.
At that moment, Lin Junruo’s brain finally kicked back into gear.
She saw Qian Xing.
Although Qian Xing was wearing a mask, she recognized the clothes he was wearing. Furthermore, Qi Shuping’s voice sounded somewhat familiar. She had already vaguely guessed who they were. Although they weren’t the familiar faces like Mu Xin or Qin Nan, they were still Players. Clearly, they were much more reliable than this NPC of unknown origin standing in front of her.
She quickly took a few steps toward Qian Xing, just barely avoiding the man’s hand.
The man’s hand caught only air. He froze for a moment, and then a look of fury crossed his face. “She is my prey!”
Qi Shuping smiled and said, “Young man, keep a level head. Getting angry isn’t good for your health.”
“You old hag, stay out of my business.” The man’s tone turned nasty.
The argument here quickly drew the attention of those around them, and people nearby began to cast their gazes over.
Qi Shuping sighed and said, “Young man, keep a level head.”
“You’re annoying!” the man suddenly bellowed. He lunged forward, reaching out to grab Qi Shuping. Qi Shuping stood her ground, her eyes suddenly lighting up as she saw his hand approaching.
Qian Xing didn’t know what Qi Shuping was planning. Seeing the man go for her, his expression shifted instantly, and he immediately moved to help.
The man’s hands had already touched Qi Shuping’s shoulders.
At that exact moment, Qi Shuping suddenly reached out and slammed her hand against the man’s chest. The Silver Bracelet was held firmly in her palm.
“Ah!” the man let out a sharp cry of pain.
With a solemn expression, Qi Shuping pressed the Silver Bracelet tightly against the man’s chest.
After a moment of agonizing pain, the man released Qi Shuping’s shoulders and tried to pry her hand away.
Qian Xing had only been stunned for a second. Having regained his senses, he rushed forward to assist. He used all his strength to pin the man’s hands down, allowing Qi Shuping to successfully keep the Silver Bracelet pressed against the man’s chest.
No one around expected things to turn violent so suddenly.
The onlookers watched the development in a daze. The employees noticed the commotion as well, and several quickly rushed over to intervene.
But at that very moment-
Amidst a series of agonizing screams, the man eventually shriveled into a Skin Sack and drifted weightlessly to the floor. Qian Xing and Qi Shuping had been pushing against him with all their might; when the man abruptly vanished, they both stumbled forward.
Qi Shuping was already experienced and quickly steadied herself. Qian Xing wasn’t so lucky-he hit the ground with a loud thud.
Despite the pain, Qian Xing felt a surge of pride.
He had helped Qi Shuping kill another Vampire! Rounding it up, that basically meant he had killed a Vampire himself!
Unlike Qian Xing’s good mood, the guests witnessing this farce were on the verge of a breakdown.
Though they were NPCs, they were unaware of it. In their minds, they were just ordinary people out for a night at a Bar, and now, they had just witnessed an unacceptable scene that defied all scientific explanation.
“Ah!”
Someone let out a piercing shriek, and the crowd instantly descended into chaos.
At the same time, when the man disappeared, the Vampires he had given the Embrace to suffered the same fate. They instantly turned into Skin Sacks, triggering fresh waves of screams from those standing nearby.
People soon began bolting for the exit.
One, two… ten, twenty…
The once-lively Bar was now filled with a cacophony of screams. Most of the guests were fleeing like mad, and the Bar staff were equally terrified. A few braver employees tried to maintain some semblance of order at the door.
Qi Shuping quickly reached out and helped Qian Xing to his feet.
“We have to go,” Qi Shuping said in a low voice.
Qian Xing nodded.
He had only one thought in his mind now: Qi Shuping was in charge.
However, he didn’t forget to call out to Lin Junruo. “Lin Junruo? It’s you, right? Come on, we have to leave. It’s not safe here.”
Lin Junruo was still rooted to the spot.
She couldn’t understand what had just happened.
She had a vague idea that the male NPC was dangerous, but she never expected this outcome. She didn’t know what Qi Shuping had done, but the woman had reduced that person to nothing but a Skin Sack.
The sheer amount of information was too much to process all at once.
It wasn’t until Qian Xing called her name that she snapped out of it.
Seeing that Qi Shuping was already leading Qian Xing away, Lin Junruo hurried to follow them.
She was completely in the dark, but she was certain of one thing: if she wanted to survive, her only choice was to follow Qi Shuping.
Qi Shuping led Qian Xing, Xu Tian, and Lin Junruo quickly out of the Bar’s main hall.
The hall was in total disarray. For a moment, it seemed as though no one would notice Qi Shuping’s group-but that was only an appearance.
Aside from the fleeing guests, there were others present who remained calm, their expressions natural. It was as if the events unfolding before them hadn’t affected them in the slightest.
And then, of course, there was one more person.
Xia Zeqin.
He was the one who had shoved Lin Junruo over in the first place.
As for the subsequent developments, he had stood to the side and watched everything clearly from start to finish.
He watched the direction Qi Shuping and the others were heading, a slight smirk playing on his lips, and then he set off to follow them.
