Chapter 47

Wang Hao and the other man caught up with Qin Nan and his group.

They had intended to seek protection from Jian Fan’s trio, but after seeing the three enter a private booth, the two exchanged a look and ultimately chose to hide outside and eavesdrop.

After hearing Jian Fan mention the mirror and the ability to predict the future-details that seemed vital-the two shared a silent exchange at the door before choosing to leave.

They were worried that Mary could only be summoned once. Therefore, they had to beat Jian Fan’s group to it so they could secure the clues for themselves. If Jian Fan and his companions obtained the information, they didn’t believe the group would share it.

Driven by this thought, they didn’t have the patience to listen to Jian Fan finish. In their eyes, everything that followed was nonsense. They even mocked Jian Fan in their hearts.

He was a fool. With something like this, you obviously had to hurry and do it first. Couldn’t he just explain after the summoning was over?

The two didn’t dare run too far, choosing a booth not far from the original one.

As for who would do the summoning and who would keep watch, the two had their own standard for deciding.

Rock-paper-scissors.

Wang Hao won, so he entered the booth to attempt the summoning while the other man stood guard outside. If Wang Hao failed, they would switch roles.

Wang Hao entered the restroom and turned off the light. Guided by the light from the main booth area, he successfully reached the mirror. Then, the man outside turned off the booth lights and waited by the door.

The room fell into total darkness.

It took a while for Wang Hao’s eyes to adjust before he could vaguely make out the mirror in front of him.

He took a deep breath and began the summoning: “Mary, Mary.” At first, his voice was very soft, but it gradually grew louder.

“Mary…”

One call followed another. His voice seemed trapped within the small restroom, creating a slight echoing effect. Despite it being his own voice, Wang Hao felt a sense of dread creeping in. He even felt a slight urge to give up.

Just as he was about to move his feet to leave, the mirror in front of him suddenly reacted.

A small crack appeared on the surface of the mirror, and a beam of white light seeped through it. As the light permeated, the crack seemed to grow larger and larger-

The white light gradually transformed into an eerie red glow.

“Ah!” Wang Hao let out a terrified scream.

And then-

It stopped abruptly.

The booth gradually returned to silence until Jian Fan and the others entered. A soft call of “Wang Hao” seemed to set the small world within the restroom back into motion.

Wang Hao turned around, appearing perfectly normal.

The man outside breathed a sigh of relief and stepped out from behind Qin Nan. “Wang Hao, what were you screaming for? You scared me to death! I thought something happened to you.”

Wang Hao turned his head. After a moment, his gaze locked onto the man, and he forced an awkward smile. “I was just… so shocked, that’s why…”

“What did you see?” Jian Fan interrupted, cutting straight to the point.

Wang Hao seemed a bit nervous. “I saw all of us dying.”

Jian Fan’s lips curled slightly as he continued, “How did we die?”

“Bitten to death by Vampires. Right in the bar lobby. We were just food in their mouths. It was terrifying… that image… the Vampires were biting and blood was everywhere. It was so bloody. I was just momentarily frightened, so I screamed,” Wang Hao said, his speaking speed picking up.

Qin Nan frowned.

Why did he feel that Wang Hao seemed somewhat excited while saying this?

Furthermore, Jian Fan had previously reminded him of one point: the Realm of Death would not determine their order of death or the method of their death. Therefore, it was impossible to see a Death Premonition of their future here.
Although he was a New Player, setting aside Jian Fan’s reminders and having experienced two worlds, Qin Nan had begun to realize something. While the Realm of Death set extremely harsh game segments for them, everything was filled with unknowns.

In other words, Wang Hao was lying.

“Let’s go,” Jian Fan said, turning to leave immediately.

Even if Jian Fan hadn’t spoken, Qin Nan and Mu Xin didn’t want to stay there any longer-more accurately, they didn’t want to stay with Wang Hao. Right now, Wang Hao was a visible danger.

Based on their deductions, once a Mary summoning was performed, there was a ninety percent chance the Player would be obliterated by the game world. Yet here Wang Hao stood, perfectly fine, without a single scratch on him.

Of course, it was possible their reasoning was wrong. However, Wang Hao’s answers to Jian Fan’s subsequent questions were clearly off.

First of all, it was impossible to predict the future. Secondly, considering Wang Hao and his group had tried to get ahead of them by secretly summoning Mary, no one believed Wang Hao would just explain everything simply because Jian Fan asked.

Therefore, something was wrong with Wang Hao.

If it were just a matter of Wang Hao being suspicious, Qin Nan and Mu Xin wouldn’t have felt so unsettled. What was truly terrifying was Jian Fan’s previous hypothesis.

Bloody Mary would steal the summoner’s body and soul. Although Wang Hao hadn’t summoned Bloody Mary but a Vampire, did this world have a similar setting for them?

The Wang Hao they saw appeared alive and unharmed, but that didn’t mean the real Wang Hao was still alive.

This theory was a bit far-fetched, and they likely wouldn’t have thought of it if Jian Fan hadn’t brought it up. But once the suggestion was made and all the information was linked together, the deduction became perfectly logical.

This was the true information behind the legends the bartender had mentioned-the truly useful content Qin Nan had paid a great price to obtain.

Despite the whirlwind of thoughts in their minds, the three remained calm on the surface, keeping a steady pace.

They left the private booth, and Wang Hao did not follow.

Qin Nan glanced back out of the corner of his eye and nudged Jian Fan, gesturing toward the booth with his eyes. Jian Fan understood his meaning and replied, “Between his companions and us, who do you think he would choose?”

Qin Nan made an “OK” sign and shut his mouth.

He still hadn’t fully adapted to the Realm of Death. When he saw people who weren’t teammates potentially facing danger, his humanitarian instincts made him want to help. But Jian Fan was right-the other party wouldn’t choose them. If they tried to expose the truth, not only was the theory a bit too bizarre, but it would also alert the enemy.

After all, there were many unknown Vampire NPCs hidden among the massive crowds. There was no reason for them to turn themselves into targets.

The three quickly left the area and returned to the bar’s main hall.

After watching Jian Fan’s group leave, the man looked at Wang Hao and asked, “Did you really see all of us being bitten to death by Vampires?”

Wang Hao flashed a strange smile. “I’m not sure about the others, but you… you were definitely bitten to death by a Vampire.”

The man’s eyes widened. He quickly grabbed Wang Hao’s arm. “We should go find Elder Qi right now. Even if that old woman won’t talk to us, she can at least keep us alive.”

“It’s too late,” Wang Hao replied.

The man was puzzled. “Too late for what?”

The smile on Wang Hao’s face deepened. “Your blood… it smells so good.”

“What?” The man became even more bewildered.
