Chapter 3
Before Li Yu could finish, the plane plunged into a rapid descent.
I complained inwardly that the pilot had to be from Harbin. I’d heard Harbin pilots were always in a hurry to get off work and go home to their wives, so they landed like maniacs.
Li Yu and Invincible Big Baby returned to their seats to wait for touchdown.
Once the plane began taxiing, I turned on my phone.
The moment it came to life, a flood of messages appeared—all from my boss:
“Dongdong, I forgot to tell you. You absolutely have to protect yourselves on this trip.”
“The serial killer already sent an anonymous letter saying he plans to turn Bashful Young Master into a collectible.”
“Several artists have already been murdered at their own events.”
“We strongly suspect this killer is mentally ill. Who else would do something like this?”
“You must protect Bashful Young Master. If you sacrifice your life, we’ll give your family a little extra for funeral expenses.”
“We’ll even book the crematorium’s first furnace of the day!”
I…
At that moment, all I wanted to do was curse somebody out. They hadn’t forgotten to tell me a damn thing.
The company simply couldn’t bear to give up the event revenue, so they’d sent me here as a sacrificial lamb.
And the key problem was… why was it another lunatic?
I’d already had three around me. Now there were four, and the newest one was a killer!
I was the goddamn Conan of psychopaths. Wherever he went, people died. Wherever I went, the crazies showed up!
I drew a deep breath and forced a smile.
“All right, we’re here. Let’s get off the plane.”
Li Yu looked at me with hearts practically glowing in his eyes.
“Are we going on a date?”
“I’ll do a much better job playing Bashful Young Master this time.”
I held my head.
“You don’t need to play him this time. He’s right there.”
His words reminded me of that disastrous event when Invincible Big Baby had nearly hacked me to death.
I turned toward Bashful Young Master.
“And you—don’t run around. Behave yourself. We’re here for an event.”
But the sight of Bashful Young Master made my blood boil.
He was supposed to be a respected artist. Now he was wrapped around Invincible Big Baby like an octopus. How was this acceptable?
Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to provoke either of them!
And so, the four of us left the plane…
Li Yu walked in front, I followed him, and Invincible Big Baby trudged behind us with Bashful Young Master coiled around his body.
Invincible Big Baby had given up resisting. His face was the picture of despair.
After all, Bashful Young Master had now wound himself around Invincible Big Baby’s head.
His extra-thick, extra-long chocolate wafer roll was poking straight into Invincible Big Baby’s ear…
I had just started to laugh when Li Yu’s resentful voice floated back from ahead.
“Baby… hold my hand…”
I was about to refuse when Li Yu suddenly smiled, ran back, and whispered in my ear,
“Baby, I just thought of a great idea.”
“If I chop off your hand, then I can hold it forever, right?”
Well, what else was there to say? Fine… I’d hold it… right now…
The next second, Li Yu was leading me by the hand while I wore the same dead-inside expression as Invincible Big Baby.
The four of us became the biggest spectacle in Tokyo International Airport.
At the security checkpoint, an employee spoke considerately to Invincible Big Baby.
“Excuse me, sir. Please show us the quarantine certificate for the monkey on your head.”
I nearly died laughing.
Then another employee leaned close to me.
“Sir, if you’re being held hostage, please tell me. We can protect you.”
“The person behind you is pressing a restricted blade against your back.”
I turned around. What restricted blade? That was a gun—a real, bang-bang-bang gun!
I was still trying to figure out how to explain when a pickup truck smashed in from outside and came barreling straight at us!
