Chapter 4

Live streaming?

According to Xiao Ming, this was all the rage right now. Many business owners who were struggling would find people to do live-streamed sales to boost their business.

Thinking of the three-digit balance in my bank account, I nodded enthusiastically.

Jiang Beizhou headed inside holding his phone, while I pulled out my tablet and opened the surveillance app.

To ensure safety within the Haunted House, I had installed numerous cameras in every room. After all, they were genuine Vengeful Ghosts. Although they didn’t really hurt people anymore under my taming, it was better to be safe than sorry.

I watched as Jiang Beizhou pushed open the door. In an instant, he froze like a statue, an expression of utter disbelief washing over his face.

Huh? Was my Haunted House really that scary?

Sister River hadn’t even come out yet!

Jiang Beizhou’s hand trembled as he reached out to touch a cushion on the sofa. The pattern was strikingly familiar, and the texture was soft-exactly like the ones his mother used to make.

Then there was the tablecloth on the coffee table; it was the same green checkered pattern his mother had loved most.

He wiped away his tears as the longing for his mother surged from the depths of his heart.

Jiang Beizhou’s father had died in a car accident when he was only three years old. His mother had raised him single-handedly, playing the role of both parents.

During his sophomore year of high school, he had returned home from evening self-study only to find that his mother had vanished.

He hadn’t seen her since. Everyone said she must have met with an accident and died somewhere unknown.

But he never gave up looking for her. He firmly believed she was still alive.

In order to get more people to help find his mother, he became an influencer and a blogger with millions of followers. He regularly posted photos of his mother online, but he had never received any news.

I frowned as I watched Jiang Beizhou. He was sitting on the sofa with his face buried in his hands, not moving for a long time.

Is my Haunted House really that un-scary?

This won’t do. He’s live streaming! I can’t let him ruin my business!

I pulled out my walkie-talkie:

“Sister River, go! Give him something intense!”

The lights in the old house began to flicker. Water stains slowly seeped through the walls. After a moment, clumps of waterweed began to bubble up from the basin in the corner.

Sister River’s figure slowly crawled out of the bathtub, shrouded in a mist of water vapor, and stood at the bathroom door.

Jiang Beizhou stared with wide eyes, watching everything in shock. When he saw Sister River’s figure, his entire body jolted.

Seeing Jiang Beizhou looking dazed in the surveillance video, I tilted my chin up triumphantly.

Hehe, scared stiff, aren’t you?

Who would have guessed that in the next second, the vibe would take a sharp turn:

Jiang Beizhou rushed toward Sister River like a madman, pulled her into a tight hug, and wailed at the top of his lungs:

“Mom! Where have you been all these years, Mom! Do you know how much I missed you?!

“I’ve been looking for you for nine years! Nine whole years, Mom!”

Holy crap!

What is going on?!

I tossed the tablet aside and was about to rush into the house when a girl ran in through the entrance and lunged at me, grabbing my hand.

“Let go! Who are you?!”

I tried to shake her off. This girl who appeared out of nowhere looked a bit familiar.

The stylish, beautiful young woman gripped my hand tightly. Because she was using so much force, her expression looked a bit distorted.

She gritted her teeth and said, “I’m your damn rumored girlfriend!”
