Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Going to work is a miserable fate.
Especially when the client’s requirements change every five minutes, only for them to finally say they want the effect from the first version after all.
A coworker leaned over beside me, gazing admiringly at the superior who had just walked past.
“The most beautiful scenery in our company is President Qin. Tell me, how can someone be that handsome and that rich?”
Without looking up, I said, “Everyone can see he’s handsome. How can you tell he’s rich?”
“Did you see the watch on President Qin’s wrist? The official price is hundreds of thousands. And the car he usually drives isn’t cheap either.”
I narrowed my eyes and stared at Qin Duo’s retreating figure for a moment. I had an impression of the watch on his wrist. My dad had one from the same brand, and he usually tossed it around wherever.
What kind of rich man was Old Zhong, hiding it from his own daughter?
Not very decent of him.
When it was time to get off work, the coworkers around me left one after another.
I was still wrestling with the client’s ridiculous demands.
Night fell before I knew it, and I didn’t even notice the world outside the window had gone dark.
Just as I was about to shut down my computer, I heard footsteps. I looked up and saw a tall, slender figure slowly walking out from the office farther inside.
Qin Duo’s outfits were always praised by everyone in the office.
But as the saying goes: fashion is completed by the face.
Honestly, Qin Duo and I weren’t that close despite being fellow students under the same mentor. When I was a freshman in college, he had already secured a guaranteed spot for graduate school. By the time I was about to enter the lab, he had graduated.
Of course, we had met before.
He was the proud disciple our advisor always talked about.
“Why haven’t you left yet?” Qin Duo walked over.
He glanced at my computer, then naturally typed in a few things, clicked save, and even helped me log out.
The sight of those long, slender fingers tapping across the keyboard was very pleasing to the eye.
If only he weren’t my direct superior.
Any social relationship, the moment it gets tangled up with work, becomes an instant turnoff.
“Have you eaten?” he suddenly asked.
I shook my head without thinking.
Then I heard this superior, who was mild-tempered but rigorous in everything and very clear about boundaries, say, “Then let’s go. Your senior will treat you to dinner tonight.”
Senior.
This connection between the two of us was something I had never mentioned to any coworker.
And no one could tell I had gotten in through the back door.
Because back when I wanted to submit my resume, my advisor took one look at the company I was applying to and told me not to bother. He directly sent my resume to Qin Duo’s inbox.
Then Qin Duo interviewed me, and I was hired.
The process had been simplified quite a bit. In a way, it did count as getting in through connections.
Since Qin Duo called himself my senior, then right now, he wasn’t speaking to me as my boss.
