Chapter 2
A sneakered foot came down hard on the Alpha I’d just kicked, and his face twisted in agony.
“Ye Tianyu, I dare you to say that again!”
The newcomer’s height and innately overpowering Alpha pheromones frightened my attackers so badly they hardly dared to breathe.
I was trembling all over. I looked at him as if I were seeing a god.
Only after beating those Alphas beyond recognition did he stride firmly toward me.
I whimpered, collapsed against him, and cried plaintively, “Lu Ye…”
This was the most humiliating moment of my life.
My heat had struck in a dark alley, leaving my legs so weak I couldn’t even stand. All I could do was wait in a sorry heap for my best friend to rescue me.
If Lu Ye hadn’t arrived in time, I didn’t dare imagine what would have happened next.
My arms hung loosely around his neck as I desperately breathed in his pheromones, my head swimming.
“Lu Ye, where… where did you go? What took you… so long?”
My reproach came out thick with hurt.
I didn’t want to admit this person was me.
Being an Omega made me act all soft and girly. It was so damn annoying.
Everyone knew me as a fearless, lawless, super-macho Alpha who’d fight heaven and earth.
“I went to buy you a vanilla Magnum bar. How was I supposed to know our big, tough Alpha was so impressive that he’d get into trouble the second I looked away?” Lu Ye mocked.
“Then where’s my Magnum?” I patted Lu Ye’s broad shoulder.
His whole body tensed, and he muttered ominously, “I saw you were in trouble and tossed it God knows where.
“Quit patting me. You do realize we’re different secondary genders now, don’t you?”
He took a few more steps, then finally lost his patience and roared, “Wen Xing, I swear to God, don’t—
“Stop squirming on my back! Could you try acting like a human being?”
I behaved myself for two minutes. “Lu Ye, I’m hot.”
The air I exhaled felt hot enough to turn into lava.
I was a live volcano on the verge of erupting.
I could hear my heart pounding. I could hear Lu Ye’s too.
The muscles in his back were incredibly solid, and with his entire body drawn tight, they felt hard as stone.
I thought resentfully that an Alpha really was an Alpha. They barely had to work for it; they were born with powerful bodies and strong muscles.
I trained and boxed every day, yet I still couldn’t build muscle like his.
“Deal with it,” Lu Ye snapped.
The farther he walked, the stiffer he became. Before long, he exploded again. “Wen Xing, I’m seriously warning you—don’t push me. And stop grinding against me, all right?”
I wanted to cry.
It wasn’t as if I wanted to.
How could I have known my first heat would hit this fiercely?
“Lu Ye, why don’t you… why don’t you knock me out?” I was in utter misery.
He fell silent. After a long moment, he murmured beside my ear, “It’ll be all right soon.”
Lu Ye carried me back to his house.
His parents had gone abroad for their honeymoon, so he was home alone.
He pinned me against the windowsill and interrogated me mercilessly.

My Best Friend Wants to Mark Me
My best friend pinned me against the windowsill when my heat struck without warning.
My whole body went weak, my breaths burning, like a fish dragged onto shore and left gasping for air.
