Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“Xiaoyi, you’re just joking, right?”
Lin Chenhao grabbed my arm, a forced smile plastered on his face.
I pulled my arm away from his grip.
I looked him straight in the eye and said, enunciating every word, “Look closely. I am Jiang Zhiyu.”
“I am not your Xiaoyi. Jiang Zhiyu has never had a second name, and she certainly isn’t Xiaoyi.”
He looked at me, his expression growing frantic.
“Xiaoyi, I’ve been doing everything at work just like you asked. I didn’t take that role, and I’m going to stay home with you for the next two months.
“In my last project, we used camera angles for the kiss; I didn’t actually kiss another woman.
“Don’t scare me like this. We’re not getting a divorce.”
Looking at him, I did my best to suppress the anger rising within me.
I told myself that he was also a victim of this deception.
“Lin Chenhao, I am Jiang Zhiyu. The person I love is Gu Xi.
“I am not the Xiaoyi you speak of. That Xiaoyi is a thief who stole my body seven years ago while I was in a coma after the car accident.
“Now, I’ve taken my body back. Your Xiaoyi is gone.”
He tried to pull me into an embrace, but I pushed him away.
“Is it… is it a split personality? It’s okay, Xiaoyi. We can go to the hospital. I’ll stay by your side through it all.”
I shook my head. It was clear I wasn’t getting through to him.
“A lawyer will contact you regarding the divorce.”
With that, I turned and walked away quickly.
“Xiaoyi!”
I pulled out my phone and scrolled rapidly through the contacts.
There wasn’t a single trace of my family or friends. The list was filled entirely with people that Xiaoyi had befriended over the last seven years.
I dialed the one number I had etched into my memory, my fingers trembling.
As the phone rang, my heart hammered against my ribs like a drum.
Please, I beg you, pick up.
“I’m sorry, the number you have dialed…”
I tried again and again, but there was no answer.
I switched to calling my brother.
“Hello?”
“It’s me, Brother.”
Hearing Jiang Liang’s voice, I felt my entire body shudder. After being locked inside my own body for seven years, I was finally making a real connection with my family.
“Oh, if it isn’t the great Miss Jiang. Why are you calling me? Checking to see if I’ve dropped dead from anger yet so you can inherit the estate?
“Or did your Movie Star husband get caught cheating and kick you out of the house?
“If that’s the case, I’ll have to buy plenty of fireworks to celebrate.”
Hearing his sarcasm actually made me happy.
He sounded full of energy, which meant he was doing well.
“Brother, it’s Jiang Zhiyu.
“I can’t explain everything in one sentence. I’m coming to your office to see you now.”
“Don’t you dare come here. Even if you do, I won’t see-”
I hung up before he could finish.
It was just fluff anyway; there was no need to listen.
I hailed a taxi and headed straight for the company.
I watched the skyscrapers rising from the ground and the patches of greenery interspersed between them.
Compared to seven years ago, the entire city had developed at a breakneck pace.
The wheels of time had ground forward.
Leaving me alone to face this world turned upside down.

By then, “she” had already used my body to get married and become pregnant.
