Chapter 1
Chapter 1
“Xiaoyi, it’s time to get up.” A man looked at me with a face full of tenderness, reaching out his hand to brush a stray lock of hair from my forehead.
I tilted my head, dodging his touch.
Staring at the man I had known for seven years, I spoke coldly: “Let’s get a divorce.”
He seemed stunned, his expression freezing completely.
Ignoring him, I got out of bed and walked to the window, reaching out to feel the long-lost sunlight.
It had been seven years. Seven years since I watched that woman enter my body after my car accident.
She had squeezed my soul out, driving me away.
And then, wearing my skin and masquerading as me, she enjoyed the affection of my family while using my true love as a stepping stone and a springboard.
She used him repeatedly, greedily clinging to him like a parasite to suck every drop of blood from his veins, only to smile and say she didn’t love him anymore.
That her love for him had vanished.
I watched helplessly as my beloved slowly spiraled into madness and self-doubt, eventually falling into a severe depression-even reaching the point of wanting to end his own life.
When he lay in the intensive care unit, whispering my name, his parents begged her to visit him just once.
But she said, “I have a new boyfriend now. I can’t stay in contact with an ex. My boyfriend would get jealous; he’s very sensitive.”
From that moment on, the two families suffered a complete falling out, and decades of friendship were reduced to ashes.
Faced with my parents’ confusion and suspicion, she added fuel to the fire, wishing for everyone who knew me to stop talking to her.
That way, she wouldn’t have to pretend to be me anymore. She could shamelessly be herself, unscrupulously using my face, my reputation, and even my work to pursue her “dream man.”
I scanned every inch of my body. The calluses from years of practice on my hands had mostly faded.
My nails were now a gaudy, multi-colored mess covered in rhinestones.
My long, straight black hair had been permed into loose waves.
These were all the marks she had left on me.
It wasn’t until I saw my once-flat stomach bulging slightly that I felt a wave of nausea wash over me.
“She” was pregnant.
The joy of reclaiming my body was instantly doused by a bucket of ice-cold water, replaced by a feeling of utter revulsion.
A thief and a stranger had used my body to do the most intimate things possible, and then left the result of their sin inside of me.
I picked up my phone, ready to leave this place immediately. If I stayed for even one more second, I would want to set the whole house on fire.
Besides, I had something very important to do.
I had to find my lover, Gu Xi-the man I grew up with, my childhood sweetheart. Gu Xi, whom I didn’t even know was dead or alive right now.
I had to find him and tell him that I love him.
And that the person who hurt him wasn’t me.

By then, “she” had already used my body to get married and become pregnant.
