Fu Jinhua’s gaze fell on my phone screen. He didn’t say anything. He simply reached out, took the phone from me, and turned off the screen.

Then he bent down in front of me, that handsome face suddenly magnified before my eyes. He took my hand and lifted it, leaned his face close, and gently nuzzled against it.

And as he did, his eyes remained fixed straight on me.

I heard him ask, “You like this kind of thing?”

At that moment, my mind had honestly gone completely blank. I didn’t even hear clearly what he had said.

Fu Jinhua and I were in a business marriage, but we were also truly husband and wife. We fulfilled our marital duties with each other.

But I had never expected the always composed Fu Jinhua to do something like this.

“Fu Jinhua, did you hear my phone call?”

“Xie Yunshu, if you like this kind of thing, I can do it too. Don’t go looking for it outside.”

Fu Jinhua probably had no idea how sexy he looked right then. So sexy that I only caught the first half of what he said. The next second, his kiss came crashing down on me.

In the haze of passion, I thought to myself, What I was talking about on the phone just now was a bird. Why was Fu Jinhua getting jealous of a bird?

So he really didn’t like birds, did he?

I gave up on the idea of keeping the canary at home.

Fu Jinhua was especially different tonight. He was incredibly clingy.

He said so many things by my ear that made my heart and mind go completely hazy.

He hadn’t used to talk much in bed.

When Fu Jinhua called, I was teasing the bird. “Baby is such a good boy. So clingy with your owner…”

The call already showed as connected.

“Fu Jinhua?”

There was silence on the other end for a long while before he finally spoke. “Where are you?”

My husband by arranged marriage had been especially clingy lately, so I instinctively assumed he was urging me to come home. I said, “I’ll be back right away.”

Fu Jinhua fell silent again. After a long time, he finally said, “Mm.”

That night, when we were tangled together, he bent down by my ear and said in a cool yet restrained voice, “Owner, did I do well?”

My eyes flew wide open.

A wordless, overwhelming wave of shame swept over me. I had absolutely no idea why the husband I’d been married to for more than half a year had turned into this… He was practically an incubus.

My bottom line collapsed completely under that form of address.

In my daze, I heard him softly complain by my ear, “Why didn’t you call me Baby?”

I was so sleepy that the sentence felt like something that had appeared in my dream.
