Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“Fu Jinhua?” I walked over. “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be back for another week?”
Although my husband and I weren’t exactly close, I did know his schedule.
“You don’t want me to come back?”
Fu Jinhua’s words sounded a little strange.
“Huh?” I had no idea what he meant.
Fu Jinhua opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing.
His expression looked a little off, so I raised my hand and touched his face. “Are you feeling unwell?”
He didn’t have a fever.
The next second, without any warning, Fu Jinhua wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me toward him. I was pressed onto his lap, straddling him.
Before I could say anything, Fu Jinhua kissed me.
It was an overwhelming kiss.
I thought he only wanted a kiss, but as we kept going, the kiss changed in nature.
I struggled and said I hadn’t showered yet, but he simply cupped my hips, stood up with me in his arms, and headed toward the bathroom.
Fu Jinhua had a habit of working out. The lines of muscle on his body were beautiful, and carrying me with one arm was nothing to him.
I had no idea what had gotten into him tonight.
He was fierce.
So fierce that even when I cried, he still didn’t stop.
He kept asking me who he was.
Fu Jinhua, husband, lover… None of those answers seemed to satisfy him, but he still made me say them.
Steam filled the bathroom. I was like duckweed with no anchor, able only to cling tightly to him.
My stamina was severely overdrawn. In my daze, I heard Fu Jinhua say something by my ear.
“You are mine.”
Of course I was his.
But I didn’t have the energy to answer him anymore.
He acted like he’d never seen a woman in his life.
It wasn’t until the next day that I had the strength to ask him about his schedule.
Fu Jinhua stood by the bed and looked at me deeply.
“The project is in its final stage. I’ve handed over the work. I’ll be staying in the country for a while.”
“Didn’t you say that project was very important, and you had to keep an eye on it personally because you weren’t at ease?”
Fu Jinhua gave a quiet hum. “There are also very important things in the country… that I have to keep an eye on personally.”
I didn’t catch the implication in his words.
From that day on, Fu Jinhua became very strange.
Logically speaking, both of us were busy with work, but he started coming home much more often.
Usually, by the time I got home, he was already there.
That day, when I returned from work, I saw Fu Jinhua coming out of the kitchen with dishes in his hands, wearing an apron.
I froze for a moment.
Not only because Fu Jinhua was cooking, but also because of how he was dressed.
He was wearing a black tank top, the beautiful lines of his muscles on full display in the open air. Paired with that face of his, the sheer sexual tension hit me head-on.
And yet he was wearing an apron.
A faintly domestic husband vibe.
Very attractive.
Fu Jinhua looked at me and said gently, “You’re back? Hurry and wash your hands. Let’s eat.”
This was the first time I ate food cooked by my own husband.
Because ours was a business marriage, neither of us had ever required domestic skills from the other. We usually hired people to handle these things.
So I had no idea Fu Jinhua was actually this good at cooking.
“Is it good?” he asked.
I nodded like I was pounding garlic. “It’s good.”
Then he said something pointed again. “Since the food at home is good, don’t eat outside. It’s not healthy.”
I only understood the surface meaning.
“How could that work? You’re so busy. How could you come home after work and cook every day?”
Fu Jinhua: “…”
That night, while Fu Jinhua was taking a shower, I called Lin Qinglan.
Her voice sounded a little sneaky. “Your husband isn’t beside you, is he?”
“No. What’s wrong?”
Lin Qinglan said, “How’s that canary of yours?”
Canary?
“Pretty good. It knows how to rub its head against my hand and act cute now.”
Every little bird had a different personality. My canary just happened to be the affectionate type.
“Xie Yunshu, I didn’t expect this was the type you liked.” For some reason, Lin Qinglan let out a slightly perverted laugh. “Don’t say your bestie doesn’t support you, okay? But you are married, after all. Even if it’s a loveless business marriage, if you’re keeping something like that outside behind your husband’s back, you’d better hide it well.”
“Hide what…” I had just been about to ask her what was there to hide when footsteps suddenly sounded behind me.
At some point, Fu Jinhua had finished showering. He came out with only a towel wrapped around his waist.
I watched a crystal-clear drop of water slide down his chest until it disappeared into the towel.
A silent kind of sexiness.
He asked, “Who are you talking to?”
“Lin Qinglan.” Belatedly, I turned my phone screen toward him to show him, only to realize that Lin Qinglan had hung up at some point.
