Honestly, I was stunned.
I had never imagined anyone in the world could be this eager to learn!
No wonder the comments said he would one day know how to fly a helicopter, speak twenty foreign languages, and even repair refrigerators.
He wanted to pick up a few tricks for talking to idiots, so of course he would learn a practical skill like refrigerator repair!
Yin Hengyu attached himself to me completely.
Every day, he trailed at my heels, waiting on me hand and foot and coming whenever I called. He even offered to trade resources: he would tutor me, while I passed every one of my skills on to him.
But I kept the rules for survival firmly in mind. I wanted nothing to do with any of those three.
I would let him die without ever learning to crow like a rooster. The frustration could kill him.
Because Yin Hengyu was acting so strangely, Yao Yao was always staring at me with wounded resentment.
After school one day, Yin Hengyu followed me in silence as usual. Suddenly, a wave of bitterness seemed to wash over me from behind.
I turned. Yao Yao was already streaming tears.
She came up beside me and said in a trembling voice, “Hengyu, you wouldn’t come to dinner when I asked. Was it so you could be with her?”
“Yes,” Yin Hengyu said. “Why?”
Yao Yao cried even harder. “Didn’t you say I was the most important person to you? Aren’t we best friends? I need you now, and you…”
I was already irritated because I could not solve my math problems. Her crying made it worse, and I clicked my tongue impatiently.
The comments, quiet for days, started bubbling up again.
[The supporting girl has the nerve to be impatient? Does she have any idea how much it means that the second male lead would give his life for the heroine?]
[Is the plot finally going back to normal? I seriously wondered if the earlier chapters were a pirated version. Can we switch back to the city channel?]
[Relax. The heroine is the second male lead’s whole life. Just wait for the supporting girl to be humiliated.]
The comments made my temper flare. I was about to tell both of them to get lost when a dog shot out of the alley!
It raced up and started barking at us. Yao Yao went pale with fright, and Yin Hengyu hurried to shield her.
The atmosphere instantly turned romantic.
I drew a deep breath.
“Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof!”
That was me.
“Woof, woof, woof! Woof, woof, woof, woof!”
Still me.
The dog froze, then turned and walked away.
I snorted and told Yao Yao, “You’re driving me crazy. Keep me out of whatever is going on between you two. Have you ever seen me pay attention to him? I’m warmer to dogs than I am to him.”
Yao Yao was about to answer when Yin Hengyu grabbed my arm.
I took a wary step back and frowned. “What do you want?”
Excitedly, Yin Hengyu asked, “Did you just scare that dog away? You can speak dog too? What else can you do? Teach me. Please.”
“Get lost!” I kicked him in the leg. “Learn dog language, my ass. Do you even have the talent?”
Copying my tone from moments ago, Yin Hengyu said, “Woof, woof, woof.”
Yao Yao shrieked, “Yin Hengyu! Didn’t you say you would only ever be my dog?”
I shrieked too and clamped my hands over my ears. “Sweet mother of mercy! What in heaven’s name are you city people doing? I can’t take any more!”
