The corridor was lined with wards on both sides.

There were four walls in total. Two sides offered no way out, while from another, a wave of frenzied human NPCs charged straight at them, trying to seize them.

The four Players who were moving as a tight group had already come up with a plan.

“There’s only one route now! We run forward! This is a hospital corridor-rooms on both sides. I saw that the wards end at the far end. If we get out from that direction, we’ll definitely reach the hospital lobby. The lobby is much more open than the corridor, so it won’t be as easy for them to catch us!”

The other three Players immediately echoed him.

Their bodies only reached the NPCs’ shins. A single step from an NPC was the equivalent of four or five of theirs. To reach the end as fast as possible, the Players anxiously started exchanging for acceleration Items.

The lanky guy was staring at his Wristband with full concentration when someone suddenly slammed into his shoulder.

Thinking an NPC had caught him, he jolted and staggered, but when he turned around, he only saw the back of an unfamiliar Female Player.

The White Band tied around her head fluttered in the air with her movements.

The lanky guy immediately relaxed and let out a disdainful snort.

So it was a blind woman.

No eyes-who knew what she’d relied on to claw her way into an Instance at this level.

It definitely wasn’t strength, like him!

His neck felt a little itchy, so the lanky guy reached up and scratched.

Where he couldn’t see, a sheet of black paper covered in eerie Runes slid with the motion and quietly slipped down into his clothes.

The side with the Runes pressed tightly against his back.

“You’re not allowed to disturb the pet owners who paid to see a doctor!” the NPC doctor shouted, stomping hard. The entire scene shook violently.

“Catch them! Catch them! Our hospital just opened, and we run into something this unlucky!”

“All that four-week onboarding training I gave you was wasted! Eight stray things slipped in at once! If anyone sees them, we’re all finished! If you can’t catch even one, you’re all fired! Go be unemployed!”

After being chewed out, the security guard NPCs visibly sped up, throwing themselves at the four Players who were all running in the same direction-a tight cluster, easy to grab.

The lanky guy swung his arms hard, only to discover in horror that his legs felt like they’d been filled with lead.

“Why can’t I move…?” He had clearly exchanged for a speed-boosting Item, yet after using it, he was only getting slower and slower.

The ground was perfectly flat, but his legs sank into an invisible mire. He had to spend ten times the effort just to yank them free.

“Bang-!”

A stun baton cracked into his head. The lanky guy convulsed and collapsed to the floor, spewing a huge mouthful of white foam. Then a massive hand seized him and lifted him high. “I caught one!”

The three Players in front looked back.

“It’s Jiang Changqing! Brother Hai, he got caught!”

Sun Hai’s eyes darkened. “If it were just one NPC grabbing him, we could deal with it. But there are too many NPCs right now, and I haven’t even reached the end myself. In this situation, I can’t help him. He’ll have to fend for himself!”

“If any of you try to save him and end up unable to get away yourselves, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

The electric baton kept lashing Jiang Changqing. The NPC’s enormous grip crushed his stomach flat; blood sprayed from his mouth and nostrils, and he couldn’t even force out a scream.

He suddenly hurled an Item at the security guard NPC’s face.

The moment it struck, the Item exploded, billowing up a surge of flames.

The fire started on the NPC’s face and climbed upward. When it reached his hair, the flames flared several times larger in an instant. The NPC released his grip, flinging Jiang Changqing to the ground, then slapped frantically at his face, which was already burning and melting away.
“That crazy cat!”

“Help me! There’s a fire!”

The flames climbed higher from the NPC’s head, licking the ceiling until a sharp alarm blared.

Jiang Changqing knelt on the floor, frantically exchanging points for Medicine items and stuffing them into his mouth. Just as he swallowed them whole, a torrent of ice-cold water cascaded from above.

The shock made him vomit up half the medicine. He was covered in foul-smelling vomit that washed across the floor with the water.

A Female Player from his team, who had kindly come to give him a hand, wrinkled her nose in disgust. She didn’t go near him, instead exchanging for a rope and tossing it over. “Grab on. I’m getting you out of here.”

The cold water pouring from the ceiling soaked all eight players from head to toe. The water continued to spray in a rotating pattern with no sign of stopping.

Luo Jia Bai panted as he analyzed the situation, brushing his wet hair back from his face. “The fire reached the ceiling and triggered the fire sprinklers.”

Fortunately, those four players were causing enough of a ruckus to draw most of the NPCs’ aggro.

The nurse NPCs left to deal with them were much slower.

Lu Li said softly, “With all this water, why are the NPCs standing in the hallway with cages still not moving?”

They weren’t participating in the hunt.

They didn’t even react to being soaked.

Under what circumstances would these pet-owner NPCs react?

Luo Jia Bai turned his head and noticed Lu Li had put his hood up. He was completely dry; the water fell continuously but slid right off the special fabric.

Luo Jia Bai wiped the water off his glasses, put them back on, and asked in shock, “Wait, why is your outfit waterproof?”

“It’s my new work uniform,” Lu Li replied.

Bosi had given it to him before he left this morning.

The hood and pants even had perfectly fitted small holes for his ears and tail to poke through. It was much more comfortable than the previous set.

He had only just realized the clothes were waterproof.

Very practical.

Lu Li dodged a nurse NPC lunging at him. Looking up, he found himself in front of a closed ward door.

A display screen hung on the wall.

There were three lines of text on the screen.

It was a language he didn’t understand.

Even if he couldn’t read it, he could remember the shapes.

The display suddenly flashed a green light. The first line of text disappeared, and the second and third lines shifted upward to take its place.

Behind him, an NPC carrying a cage moved.

She completely ignored the players scurrying across the floor.

She pushed the door open and walked into the ward.

Lu Li thought for a moment, then saw another screen across the hall flash green.

He shouted to Mirella, “Run toward the wards with the lights on! The doors are about to open; we’re going inside!”

Luo Jia Bai had just narrowly dodged a nurse NPC when a security guard NPC in front of him turned around, swinging an electric baton at him.

Suddenly, his frantically kicking legs were dangling in mid-air.

Luo Jia Bai turned his head.

It was Lu Li picking him up again.

His heart, which had just begun to steady, started pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of his throat because of Lu Li’s next move.

Lu Li didn’t run away while carrying him; instead, he charged straight toward the security guard!

All the fur on Luo Jia Bai’s Appearance stood on end, his long ears fluttering and standing upright in the wind.

The security guard’s electric baton was inches away. Luo Jia Bai choked back a scream, using both hands to desperately grab his wild, flying ears.

Are we going the wrong way?!

Why are we charging right into the attacking NPC’s face?!
