Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“So, after Sister Ju took over as the BOSS, she kept the Dungeon open twenty-four hours a day, just waiting for her to come back.”
I nodded thoughtfully.
In the days that followed, I continued stocking the shelves and running the shop.
Life returned to a peaceful rhythm.
Occasionally, players would pass by the supermarket, but they all gave it a wide berth.
Even though they didn’t know exactly what had happened inside, Brother Liu had been on the Bonus Ranking for a long time.
The fact that he and his teammates died here was enough to prove the supermarket’s lethality.
No one dared to challenge it again.
I was relieved.
After all, my customers were much more polite than the players.
If they accidentally dripped a drop of blood on the floor, they would immediately wipe it clean and apologize to me.
Every time they asked me to stock certain items, their tone was extremely courteous.
In return, I did everything within my power to find whatever goods they desired.
Gradually, business began to boom.
A few days later, I received a promotion application form.
Strangely, the “Promoted Position” column had been blacked out.
I had no idea what position I was about to be promoted to.
But I figured a promotion meant a higher salary.
That was enough for me.
A month later, I received my first paycheck.
Without a moment’s hesitation, I took my bank card to the hospital to pay the fees for my comatose mother.
My father had passed away before I was born.
My mother fell into a coma when I was six years old and could only be kept alive by life-support machines.
Fortunately, she had left behind a sum of money that was enough to sustain her life for a while.
However, as time passed, the money ran out.
Having just graduated, I couldn’t earn much.
I had no choice but to take a risk and participate in the “Horror Game” that was currently sweeping the globe.
By clearing the game, one could earn tens of thousands or even hundreds of millions in prize money.
Although I hadn’t successfully participated as a player, the outcome was good.
I had secured a stable, high-paying job and saved my mother’s life.
Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last.
One day, while I was organizing stock in the supermarket, a team of players suddenly walked in.
They didn’t have weapons in their hands, but their eyes were filled with malice.
“You’re Chen Ran, right?”
I frowned slightly.
Before I could answer, they asked another question:
“Your mother’s name is Chen Ah Ning, and she’s in Ward 309 of the ICU at East City Hospital, correct?”

I Run a Supermarket in a Horror Game
On my third day working as an NPC cashier in a Horror Game, the supermarket was ransacked by players.
They stormed in, smashing and looting everything in sight while gloating...
