Chapter 8
“Why do I only have three dice while she has four!”
Brother Liu glared at me, his eyes filled with a murderous rage as if he wanted to hack me into a thousand pieces.
I shrugged and held out my hands. “You chose the dice cup yourself.”
“Besides, I did warn you to pick the one on the left.”
His suspicion had been his undoing; he had no one to blame but himself.
Brother Liu lunged at me, but in the next second, he froze mid-air.
An invisible force tightened around his neck, constricting further and further until-*thud*.
Brother Liu was reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.
With the rule restrictions lifted, all the BOSSes began to make their moves.
In an instant, the supermarket turned into a purgatory.
Sister Ju kindly pulled me down to crouch behind the counter, shielding me. “Don’t look at that, Boss Chen. It’s quite disgusting.”
I nodded and pulled another blind box from deep within the counter.
“I saved this one for you.”
Sister Ju froze, her eyes welling with tears as she looked at me. “Boss Chen, you’re such a good person…”
She wiped her eyes and handed me a card. “The moment I laid eyes on you today, I felt a sense of familiarity, like we were destined to meet.”
“Take this card. You’ll have a use for it later.”
Once the noise outside died down, the BOSSes began helping me clean up the supermarket.
They dragged away the corpses and chunks of meat, scrubbing every corner clean.
Finally, they straightened the shelves.
They looked at me nervously.
“Boss Chen, will you keep the shop open?”
I nodded. “I’m going to restock in a bit. If you come back tomorrow, you’ll definitely be able to buy what you’re looking for.”
The BOSSes broke into cheers.
Sister Ju was in a hurry, so she headed back to her Dungeon in high spirits, clutching her final blind box.
I asked the others out of curiosity, “Why is her Dungeon open twenty-four hours a day?”
The Siren was nibbling on a bag of Spicy Little Man Jerky that had survived the chaos. Between sharp intakes of breath from the heat, she explained.
“She’s waiting for someone.”
“Who?”
“The previous BOSS of her Dungeon. That was the only 5s-rank BOSS in our game.”
Crow flapped his wings and chirped excitedly, “I know, I know!”
“I was lucky enough to meet her once when I was young. She gave me a bottle of superglue.”
“Since then, the eyeballs on my body rarely fall off!”
“Word is that BOSS was sent away to scout and open up new game sites.”
“It’s a pity. It’s been decades, and there hasn’t been a word from her.”
