Chapter 3

Brother Liu, one of the players, was the first to rush over to me. He ripped the cloth from my mouth and pressed a knife against my throat.

“Did you secretly tip them off?!”

I frowned. “I didn’t.”

“I tried to tell you earlier that they were coming to buy things.”

“You were the ones who wouldn’t let me speak.”

“Then what do we do now!”

“It’s your fault for not saying anything at the start! If you don’t come up with a solution, I’ll kill you right now!”

Brother Liu grabbed my hair violently, his expression frantic as he brandished the knife.

It looked as if he would stab me to death at any second.

I needed this job, so I couldn’t afford to die in the game.

Enduring the pain, I suddenly spoke up. “I can help you.”

He let go.

The group of players quickly crowded around. “How?”

I stood up and pulled out a case of blind boxes from under the counter.

“Each of you, open one.”

The players read the name on the boxes with suspicious looks. “Bubble Newt? …What use is this?”

My expression remained calm. “Why don’t you try it and find out?”

Seeing that time was almost up, they didn’t dare hesitate any longer. Each of them grabbed a blind box and tore it open.

They gripped the figurines they found inside tightly in their hands.

A second later, the first batch of real customers arrived.

The Embroidered Shoe Female Ghost BOSS, hanging by her neck and sporting two bloody eye sockets, spoke in a dainty, chirpy voice:

“Boss Chen, I specifically changed into a new pair of shoes before coming over~”

“Tell me, have the Eyeball Popping Pearls I asked for arrived yet?”

“I really want to-son of a…! Who threw my Eyeball Popping Pearls on the floor!”

The Female Ghost suddenly shrieked, black blood oozing from her eye sockets.

The players reflexively closed their eyes, but she still caught them in a hard-crowd-control jump-scare.

Facing those two bloody sockets, the players’ sanity value began to plummet.

“Who… ate my Eyeball Popping Pearls?”

“An eye for an eye.”

She slowly reached out her hand.

The player in front of her lost control of his body, watching in horror as his own hand reached toward his eyes.

The next moment, another angry wail echoed from behind.

“My Spicy Little Man Jerky!”
