Chapter 4
After Yi Sijin finished that cup of Taro Boba, he remained silent for the time it takes to brew half a pot of tea.
At first, I thought he was going to trash the place.
Instead, he lowered his head and stared at the empty cup as if contemplating some grand matter concerning the Three Realms.
Then he raised his eyes and asked me seriously, “Can I have another?”
“Sure. It’ll cost extra.”
“I have money.”
When he said those three words, there was even a hint of pride in his expression.
I quickly whipped up another cup for him.
Once the second cup was down his throat, he visibly softened. That dangerous, sharp aura hadn’t vanished; it was just suppressed by the sweetness, making him look less like he was about to dismantle the Sect at any moment.
“This thing of yours,” he began slowly, “the Demon Realm doesn’t have it.”
“That’s normal,” I said. “I imagine the beverage system in the Demon Realm is still stuck in the bitter medicinal soup stage.”
He nodded. “Indeed.”
Wei Jinghong, listening from the side, had a bizarre expression on her face. She was already quite skilled at working in my shop, and one look at Yi Sijin told her this man was no ordinary character. She secretly mouthed to me: *Who is he?*
I mouthed back: *Don’t ask. A VIP.*
After finishing his second cup, Yi Sijin didn’t leave immediately.
He leaned against the counter, watching the people coming and going as if observing some novel phenomenon.
“Your Righteous Sects actually allow disciples to line up for this kind of thing?”
“Why wouldn’t they?”
“Doesn’t it affect their cultivation?”
“On the contrary.” I pointed to the group of Sword Peak disciples across from us, who were holding milk tea and looking much more like living human beings. “It improves cultivation motivation, stabilizes the Dao heart, promotes fellowship among peers, and can even reduce brawling incidents.”
Yi Sijin looked thoughtful.
“Makes sense.”
I continued to fan the flames: “Besides, when a person is in a good mood, they won’t do things that are so extreme. For example, if someone originally wanted to start a war, they might feel like delaying it after a drink.”
Yi Sijin looked up at me.
For a moment, his gaze was incredibly deep.
My heart skipped a beat, but I remained as steady as an old dog on the surface.
After a long while, he actually laughed out loud.
“This shop of yours is quite interesting.”
With that, he casually tossed down a high-grade Spirit Stone.
“I’ll be coming by often from now on.”
Holding that heavy Spirit Stone, I suddenly felt I was one step closer to becoming the richest person in the Sect.
I only found out later that Yi Sijin had originally come that day to scout the Sect’s strength. As it turned out, one cup of Taro Boba turned his reconnaissance mission into a recipe study, and his century-long invasion plan was pushed back on the spot.
Three days after he left, word spread through the border markets of the Demon Realm.
At the mountain pass of the Qingwu Sect, there was a Milk Tea Shop that could make one temporarily want to be a human instead of a demon.
Me: “…”
The slogan sounded a bit weird, but the results were excellent.
Half a month later, it wasn’t just righteous disciples at my shop door anymore.
There were rogue cultivators in hoods, demon cultivators pretending to just be passing by, and several customers who clearly weren’t locals. They tried to act calm while ordering, but nearly choked the first time they sucked up the Black Pearls.
Yi Sijin became my most hardworking unofficial brand ambassador.
Every time he came, he wore extremely flashy black-and-gold robes and sat in the most conspicuous spot to drink his Taro Boba. After finishing, he would unhurriedly add, “Make it a bit sweeter next time.”
The entire Sect knew this man’s origins weren’t proper.
But every time he came, he lined up, paid his money, and occasionally even helped keep the peace.
Last time, an outer peak Elder thought the line was too long and tried to cut in.
Yi Sijin lazily raised an eye. “This Seat is standing in the back. What are you cutting for?”
The other party became honest instantly.
For the first time, I truly felt that a top-tier villain was quite useful for maintaining order in a queue.
It was also during this time that Feng Linxing began to visit frequently.
She always held her sword, sitting quietly at the very edge, nursing a cup of Sea Salt Green Plum and dazing out for half an hour.
I knew what she was waiting for.
In the original novel, it wouldn’t be long before Wen Changsheng mistook her for the shadow of his old flame, dragging her into a misunderstanding-riddled, love-hate entanglement of a masochistic romance. She would be pampered, hurt, pushed away, and then chased back-her entire being treated like it was being repeatedly roasted over a fire.
But now, the plot had clearly veered off course.
Because when Wen Changsheng came to my shop for the first time, what he saw wasn’t Feng Linxing weeping under the moon, but me standing behind the counter, tossing a pot of Black Pearls with one hand while the other was clacking away on an abacus.
He froze.
Thinking he was there to buy a drink, I looked up and asked, “What would you like?”
The head disciple of the Qingwu Sect, the destined male lead who was the best at tormenting people in the original novel, stood there staring at me for three breaths before he finally asked a question.
“Do you have… anything not written on the board?”
I replied offhandedly at the time, “Yes, the Secret Menu.”
“How much?”
“Depends on fate.”
He nodded and actually didn’t press further.
Only, before he left, he looked back at me once more.
That look was as if he had discovered for the first time that, aside from the main storyline, there were other things in this Sect that could make him stop and stay.

I Became the Sect’s Favorite by Selling Milk Tea
When the Sword Venerable stood at the entrance of my Milk Tea Shop, sword in hand, the entire Sect thought he had come to demand an accounting for some grievance.
Only I knew that he just...
