Chapter 1

When Shi Yan came home from work, I was scrolling through videos online, watching abs.

Pumping music paired with rippling muscles.

Truly, the perfect cyber meal replacement.

I swallowed without realizing it.

It wasn’t until Shi Yan’s fingers brushed over the side of my neck that I jolted.

“What are you watching, baby?”

I let out two dry laughs, hurriedly long-pressed the video, and tapped “Not interested” to prove my loyalty.

Then I declared with righteous indignation, “No idea what their agenda is, recommending abs to me. Do I look like that kind of person?”

Shi Yan nodded as if he understood.

Then, with one hand, he tugged at his collar and pulled off his white T-shirt.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, fair skin, fine muscle definition, eight-pack abs, and those gorgeous V-lines.

My eyes lit up.

A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, as if he hadn’t noticed me losing all composure.

“Baby, I’m going to take a shower first.”

With that, he strode toward the bathroom.

Drawn by the scent, I immediately wanted to follow him in and shower together.

Shi Yan wickedly blocked my way and sighed helplessly.

“No.”

“I’m turning twenty tomorrow!” I roared in protest.

I still remembered the second day after we started dating.

I had been so impatient that I’d kissed him like a little beast.

But at the final step, he held the line.

“You’re still too young. This isn’t right.”

Then he set a promise with me for when I turned twenty.

We agreed that once I was twenty, we could finally do the deed.

Shi Yan raised his index finger.

His voice was cool and clear. “One day short means you’re still not twenty.”

“However…” He drew out the word.

“However what?”

He was baiting me so hard I was about to leap out of the water.

Shi Yan didn’t drag it out any further. He took my wrist and pressed my hand against his abs.

The feeling was real.

My eyes heated, and my nose gave a resonant throb.

A drop of blood fell with a splat, landing precisely on the floor.

It was over.

I’d been starved for too long.

Now I was overheating.

Shi Yan sighed and gave me a look that said, “I knew it.”

His thin lips parted slightly.

“Too much indulgence. You’re going vegetarian today.”

I begged, my voice thick with tears, “Hubby, I’m hungry. Please.”

The answer I got

was the crisp sound of the bathroom door closing.

I couldn’t live like this anymore!

I put on my earbuds, preparing to connect to Bluetooth and continue scrolling through internet thirst traps.

But an indescribable sound suddenly came through the earbuds.

My whole face went red.

Nan Qiao sent me a message just in time.

“Babe, it connected to your Bluetooth. He Qi, that dog, insisted on watching videos to study.”

I really couldn’t live like this anymore.
