Chapter 6

Ten losses in a row.

My heart was completely calm, because I was already used to it.

Years of being together had given me a deep understanding of my brother as a man.

My brother looked cold and hard to get along with on the outside, but inside he was cold-blooded and impossible to get along with.

His poison-tongue buff was maxed out, and he had one fatal flaw.

Bad luck.

Very bad luck.

You couldn’t say his mechanics were bad. You couldn’t say his positioning was wrong. But if you queued with him, you started with ten straight losses.

Later, I could only attribute it to his mouth, which was basically fitted with a jet engine.

Every time he opened fire, teammates went AFK and the enemy went berserk.

“If you’re short on maternal love, I can give you some. There’s no need to feed the enemy like you’re their devoted mother.”

“What equipment is support building? A burial suit?”

“Sprinkle a handful of rice on your phone. A chicken would path better than you.”

“Are you paralyzed from the waist down or in all four limbs? Why are you playing Yao and dancing on our own graves?”

The Yao on the phone screen had been flamed until she wandered around the map, unable to find her way home.

My brother coldly swept a glance toward the head of the bed.

Du Ruoqing’s face was ashen.

Holding my phone, I quickly slipped out the door.

He scolded her today, so he couldn’t flame me again.

I knew Du Ruoqing was trying to win over my parents and brother.

Unfortunately, she failed at all of them.

She sent my mother a WeChat message.

“Mom, your new hit female-lead drama is truly amazing! I wrote a thirty-thousand-word essay online analyzing your character. Every part is a highlight.”

Then that essay became a target for haters attacking my mother’s collapsed character image, and my mother was cursed onto the trending list the next day.

She organized my father’s study for him.

“Dad, I’ve been very diligent lately. Every day, I study the documents you left in your study, and I helped clear out a lot of materials you weren’t using.”

Then several of my father’s important projects collapsed because of incomplete materials.

She made lunch for my brother by hand, a mango curry beef brisket rice.

Then my brother, who was allergic to mango, curry, and beef brisket at the same time, was sent to the hospital by ambulance.

My cold father said, “How much longer until that paternity report comes out?”

My dazzling mother said, “It’s only been one month and fifteen days.”

My expressionless brother said, “I don’t think I’m that hard to kill.”

This made me even more certain of my view.

The nurse who switched us back then might not have been trying to protect Du Ruoqing. She might have been trying to protect the other three members of the Su family.

In the end, after painful reflection, the family of three decided that regardless of the paternity result, they would arrange for Du Ruoqing to study abroad in Argentina.

Argentina.

The country farthest from ours.

The day Du Ruoqing heard the news, she cried very sadly and pointed at me with righteous indignation.

“What about her?”

She cue’d me, screaming herself hoarse. “Aren’t you going to drive her away?”

This time, it was my father, mother, and brother’s turn to be stunned.

My dazzling mother said, “Why would we drive An’an away?”

She looked at Du Ruoqing in complete confusion.

Seeing this, Du Ruoqing became even more deranged. She pointed at me, stomping in anger.

“She isn’t your daughter! I am your daughter! Now that I’m back, shouldn’t she leave? Only one of us can stay!”

My dazzling mother did not understand. “Only children make choices. Can’t adults have both?”

My cold father said with chilling eyes, “Both are on the Su family household register.”

My expressionless brother sneered. “The Su family can afford it.”

I was deeply moved.

I had always believed that ordinary me simply did not fit in with this family, but now they had chosen me so firmly.

Just as tears were welling up in my eyes, about to spill over, I heard my mother say, “Her brain is this dumb, and we raised her into this lazy, useless temperament. If we let her out, could she survive? We have to take responsibility for this.”

The tears that were about to spill were forced right back.

I finally knew who my brother inherited his poisonous tongue from.

Today, I had found the original.

But Du Ruoqing could not accept it. Pointing at me, she insisted that my parents choose one of us. Otherwise, she threatened to sever ties with them.

My cold father said, “Are you threatening me?”

My dazzling mother said, “After severing ties, can you still be my model?”

My expressionless brother said, “One less person fighting for the inheritance.”

Du Ruoqing froze. She probably had not expected my parents to react so coldly. In her imagination, they should have been lost and panicked, and even if they did not agree on the spot, they should at least have fallen into a dilemma.

But only I knew.

In wealthy families, kinship was thin.

I heard that back then, in order to take power, my father had even plotted against his own younger brother.

My brother and I grew up in the Su family, yet we saw the housekeepers more often in a year than we saw our parents. In their hearts, their careers were more important than either of us.

So I could only say that Du Ruoqing thought too highly of herself.

Now, the clown had become her.
