Xiangxiang had a silver tongue for such a little boy.

After following me to the set for only one day, he had already become friendly with the crew.

While I was filming, he sat obediently beside the director and watched me act.

This production was a serious historical drama, and its director had worked with us several times before.

He also had deep ties with the He family, so he was especially indulgent toward Xiangxiang.

From time to time, he would tease him. “Well? Grandpa Director makes your mommy look beautiful on camera, doesn’t he?”

Xiangxiang tipped up his little face and nodded emphatically. “Grandpa Director, you’re amazing! Much better than my grandpa. Whenever he takes pictures of Grandma, he makes her look like a ghost and she always yells at him.”

The director looked at the monitor and burst out laughing.

Once that scene was done, I wrapped for the day.

After Xiangxiang had spent two days on set, all my costars knew I had a five-year-old son.

They had been shocked at first, but they adjusted quickly.

And because Xiangxiang was so lovable, everyone enjoyed teasing him during breaks.

When He Jinnan came to pick him up, Ji Chen, the male lead, was holding Xiangxiang.

He teased, “I play your mother’s husband in the drama. Shouldn’t you call me Dad too?”

Xiangxiang wrapped his arms around Ji Chen’s neck and thought about it.

“Uncle Ji, you’re younger than my dad and better-looking than him, and you buy me cheese snacks. But if I call you Dad, my dad will get jealous. If he cries, no one will comfort him. That would be really sad.”

Ji Chen roared with laughter at Xiangxiang’s compliments.

“All right. Even if you don’t call me Dad, I’ll still buy you cheese snacks.”

The moment he finished speaking, Xiangxiang heard He Jinnan call him.

“He Siheng, come here.”

After not seeing his father for two or three days, he did miss him after all.

The moment He Jinnan called, he quickly clambered down from Ji Chen’s arms

and hugged He Jinnan’s leg.

He Jinnan looked down at him and pressed his tongue against his cheek in annoyance.

“Your dad is old. Your dad isn’t as handsome as other men.”

Xiangxiang chuckled, then lowered his head and muttered, “Well, it’s true.”

He Jinnan hooked his hands beneath Xiangxiang’s arms and hoisted him up.

Carrying him over to Ji Chen, he extended a hand. “Hello. He Jinnan. I’m the father of Wen Ni’s child.”

Ji Chen smiled. “Hello. Ji Chen.”

When I emerged from the director’s tent, I found the two men’s hands still locked together.

I was no longer the naive young woman I had once been. I could see the hostility crackling between them.

I stepped forward with a sigh and looked at He Jinnan.

“What are you doing?”

The corner of his mouth curved slightly. He looked at Ji Chen again, challenge glinting in his eyes.

“Saying hello.”

I was speechless.

Knowing He Jinnan was coming for Xiangxiang today, I had already placed the boy’s belongings in my trailer.

Xiangxiang hugged his little backpack, pouting with obvious reluctance.

Then something occurred to him. He counted on his fingers, and his expression brightened considerably.

“Mommy, the day after tomorrow is Friday again. Can Xiangxiang come see you again?”

I smiled helplessly and pinched his soft cheek. “Anytime. But you mustn’t sneak over by yourself. Message me, and Mommy will have someone pick you up.”

At that, Xiangxiang’s earlier gloom vanished and a smile spread across his face.

He tugged He Jinnan’s shirttail and said gleefully, “Let’s go, Daddy.”

The moment they got into the car, He Jinnan began questioning Xiangxiang.

“That Uncle Ji…”

Before he could finish, Xiangxiang supplied, “Uncle Ji likes Mommy.”

He Jinnan’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. He gave a sullen hum.

Of course. No man would try to coax another man’s son into calling him Dad the moment they met.

Just as expected, he was up to no good.

After thinking for a moment, He Jinnan asked, “And what about your mommy?”

“Mommy likes Uncle Ji too.”

He Jinnan’s face darkened completely. “How do you know?”

Staring straight ahead, Xiangxiang answered with absolute conviction, “Mommy is always smiling at Uncle Ji, but she looks unhappy whenever she sees you.”

“And they kissed when they were acting.”

At that, Xiangxiang grew excited again. “Daddy, do you think Mommy will give me a little sister or a little brother? I’d rather have a sister.”

He Jinnan slammed the car to a stop at the roadside.

He twisted around with a frown, his face drained white. “What did you say?”

Xiangxiang blinked. “Will Mommy have a little sister or a little brother?”

“Xiaomei told me kissing makes you pregnant, and if you’re pregnant, you can have a little sister. Hehe.”

Xiangxiang delighted in the thought, completely oblivious to the wounded He Jinnan beside him.
