Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Hua Yuling, who had been hiding in the vines, had been discovered too. She was locked in a fierce battle with a Sand Ghost whose upper body was bare. When she saw how things were going on our side, her eyes went wide with shock.
Hua Yuling casually blocked an attack, but half her braid was sliced off. She scrambled and rolled her way over to me.
“Qiao Moyu, I have an idea.”
“Why don’t you just play dead and let each of them lick you once? Then why fight at all?”
“Screw off!”
“That trick only works once. If the other Sand Ghosts see it, they won’t fall for it.”
“Unless I force my blood into their mouths.”
The moment I said that, Hua Yuling and I looked at each other, sparks of genius flashing between us.
Hua Yuling started grabbing all over her head and body, even shoving her hands under the soles of her feet and into her armpits. Then she scooped out a whole pile of gu insects and smeared them onto my shoulder.
“Damn it, you are disgusting! How the hell are you hiding this many bugs on you?”
“When we actually need them in a minute, you’ll be complaining there aren’t enough!”
Those bugs rolled around in my blood until their whole bodies turned bright red. Then they began flapping their wings, swarming toward the Sand Ghosts’ ears and mouths.
The Tibetan was the first to react. He charged straight at us with his curved blade. Hua Yuling didn’t even look at him. She plopped down on the ground.
“Protect me while I cast.”
“Big sister, you really do believe in me, huh? I can’t hold him off.”
I shouted with my mouth, but I could only helplessly raise the Peach Wood Sword and meet him head-on. Hua Yuling needed to chant and control those gu insects. At a time like this, whether I could hold or not, I had to.
This Tibetan Sand Ghost was clearly far smarter than the others. He knew you captured the king before the bandits, so he went after Hua Yuling first. He swung his curved blade with all his strength. I met the blow head-on, and the force was so great that numbness shot from my fingertips all the way to my armpit. I nearly dropped the Peach Wood Sword.
Before I could even react, the curved blade was already pulled back and hacking down at my face again.
I didn’t dare block anymore. I dodged to the side, only to realize the Sand Ghost had feinted. He held the blade in his left hand while his right arm swept forward in a full-force slap.
I felt like I had been hit by a road roller. My entire body flew backward, crashed to the ground, and I spat out a huge mouthful of blood.
“Hm? Don’t waste it. Blood you’ve spat out is even stronger!”
Hua Yuling’s eyes lit up, and she commanded the gu insects to fly into the pool of blood and roll around in it.
Not wanting to fall behind, I hurriedly rubbed the Peach Wood Sword back and forth through the blood too.
This Sand Ghost’s brain was almost on Jiang Haoyan’s level. After sending me flying, he deliberately charged a few steps toward me and threw the curved blade in his hand. I hurriedly raised my sword to block, but the blade changed direction in midair and actually shot straight toward Hua Yuling.
Hua Yuling was sitting with her back to us, eyes closed and hands pressed together, still chanting.
My eyes nearly split open.
“Huahua-”
In that instant, Einstein came to mind.
What was the fastest thing in the world? Light!
But this Sand Ghost’s blade wasn’t that afraid of lightning.
No problem. Einstein also had relativity! The Sand Ghost wasn’t afraid of lightning, but Hua Yuling was!
At the critical moment, I hurled out the Thunderstruck Wood Talisman in my hand. A streak of lightning struck Hua Yuling right on the head. Her entire body stiffened, and she toppled backward, just barely dodging the flying blade.
The blade lost none of its momentum. It flew straight on and stabbed into the pile of ruined cars ahead.
I was stunned by my own intelligence. Only in a crisis like this did a person discover their true potential. Turns out, I was an academic genius.
I really did fail advanced math on my finals for no reason!
With the Tibetan Sand Ghost deprived of its strongest weapon, my spirits soared. I gripped the Peach Wood Sword, leaped high, and lunged at him.
The Sand Ghost reacted quickly too. He jumped to the side, trying to avoid my sword. To his surprise, he jumped but didn’t rise. I looked down and saw Jiang Haoyan. At some point, he had crawled out from the pile of cars and was lying on the ground, clinging tightly to the Sand Ghost’s ankle.
The Sand Ghost roared and kicked Jiang Haoyan away, but it was too late. I had already rushed right up to him, and the Peach Wood Sword smoothly stabbed into his heart.
Into empty air.
The entire left half of his body turned into drifting sand and scattered.
“Kekekeke-”
The Sand Ghost laughed smugly. Just then, two bright red gu insects, dripping with blood, flew into his mouth.
“Urgh-”
The Sand Ghost’s eyes shot wide open.
Its body began to tremble, twist, and finally, with a bang, exploded into a pile of sand.
