Chapter 6
He Xiaorui’s next targets were Guo Yingying and her best friend, Liu Lingling.
Yingying and Xiaorui had been classmates in high school, but I didn’t know why Yingying had been so hostile to her from the start.
The moment Wen Yanan showed her displeasure with Xiaorui, Guo Yingying had almost immediately taken her side.
After the rumor appeared that Xiaorui had escaped a disciplinary notice by sleeping with the academic affairs director, Yingying went all over the school embellishing the story of how Xiaorui had slept with her stepfather in high school.
Besides that, she and Liu Lingling were the two who attacked Xiaorui most often in our room.
Like a double act, they had to spend a while mocking Xiaorui every night before they were willing to go to sleep.
Not long after Wen Yanan withdrew,
Liu Lingling stormed into our room one evening, pulling Guo Yingying by the hand. She rushed straight at Xiaorui to hit her.
Wang Fang and I pulled Lingling away and asked what was wrong.
She took out her phone, opened her conversation with her boyfriend, and raged:
“He Xiaorui is a filthy little tramp! She’s trying to seduce my boyfriend!”
I hurriedly looked at the messages. Lingling’s boyfriend had asked whether He Xiaorui was her roommate. Somehow Xiaorui had found and added him on WeChat, then told him she had feelings for him.
Guo Yingying sneered, “Don’t you think you’re aiming a little high, you tramp? Take a good look at yourself. Nobody would want a cheap slut like you even for free. What makes you think you can steal Lingling’s tall, rich, handsome boyfriend?”
Lingling put her phone away and spat at Xiaorui, “See, you bitch? My boyfriend told me what you were up to right away. You stinking whore, you piece of trash. You make me so… so furious!”
Without a change in expression, Xiaorui said, “Then shall we wager on whether that pretty boy of yours will leave you and come running to Her Highness?”
Never mind Lingling, Yingying, or Wang Fang—even I could hardly believe what I was hearing.
I knew Xiaorui was fairly good-looking compared with me. She simply didn’t have money to spend on makeup.
But against Guo Yingying or Liu Lingling, she had nothing going for her.
What was she trying to do?
Lingling stamped her foot in fury. She turned and grabbed Yingying.
“Yingying, look at her! How does that bitch have the nerve? How does she?”
Yingying glared at Xiaorui. “You think there’s no one left to put you in your place now that Yanan’s gone? Let me tell you, you’re still the trash of this room! Don’t forget—we still have that video of you writhing around.”
Xiaorui smiled. “Go ahead and post it. If you’re not afraid of being arrested, show it to the whole world. And whatever you do, don’t delete it. It’s evidence of your crime! I’m already trash, after all. Trading my worthless reputation for a few years of prison for you sounds like a bargain to me.”
“Just you wait, He Xiaorui!” Yingying snapped.
“Then let’s settle this, Sister Lingling,” Xiaorui said. “If your boyfriend has become mine in two weeks, what will you put on the line?”
Furious, Lingling made to hit her again. Xiaorui suddenly leaped to her feet. I didn’t know when she’d picked it up, but there was a utility knife in her hand.
She pointed it at Lingling, her face grim.
Yingying quickly held Lingling back. “She’s crazy, Lingling. Have you forgotten? There’s something wrong with her head. Let’s not stoop to her level.”
Xiaorui put the knife away and gave the two of them a cold smile. “My dear sisters, if those mouths can’t manage a civil word, perhaps someone should smash them.”
“Fine!” Lingling shouted furiously. “If a bitch like you can steal my boyfriend, I’ll jump from this building!”
