Chapter 5
So.
His idea of getting myself to sleep
was spending the whole night beside me?
I woke up in Ji Liang’an’s arms.
The comments were just as shocked as I was.
“Guys, can you believe it? I lived to see the male lead wake up in the supporting girl’s bed.”
“Isn’t this supposed to be a sweet, exclusive romance where neither has ever been with anyone else?”
“He hasn’t slept for two days. He was tired. That’s all.”
“Can you stop freaking out?”
“So the female lead slept alone?”
“Who’d have thought? The supporting girl got lucky instead.”
His arm lay across my chest.
Both my hands were somewhere dangerous.
We were wrapped tightly around each other.
I didn’t dare move.
Ji Liang’an’s eyelids fluttered.
I closed my eyes.
His morning-rough voice sounded above my head.
“I stayed with you all night. Feeling reassured now?”
Huh?
Reassured about what?
I opened my eyes innocently. The ice between his brows melted into a soft smile.
I had no idea what he was smiling about.
He pinched my cheek. “Get up.”
“I’ll make you something to eat.”
“After this farewell meal, she’s out of the story, right?”
“Yep. The plot went a little off track, but the ending’s still the same.”
“The Last Supper. Kidding.”
“Bye, supporting girl. I’ll miss you.”
“Just kidding. I can’t wait for you to get lost.”
All right then.
Getting lost right now!
I scrambled out of bed.
Pulled my suitcase from underneath it.
Opened the wardrobe and threw in the clothes I hadn’t taken with me.
I wasn’t even halfway through
when Ji Liang’an came in.
The spatula in his hand fell to the floor.
“Baihe, what are you doing?”
Ji Liang’an was angry.
I didn’t dare provoke him.
He kicked my suitcase aside and picked up the spatula.
“Wash your hands. Breakfast.”
The female lead was already at the table.
She took a sip of milk.
A white ring of foam clung to her lips.
She licked it away and beckoned to me.
As expected of the female lead, even drinking milk had the comments praising her to the skies.
“A top-tier temptress! Even drinking milk, she’s irresistible!”
“He’s been sneaking looks at her! You little rascal, you’re dying for it, aren’t you?”
“If the supporting girl weren’t here, they’d have gone eight hundred rounds already. Switch me to the adult channel!”
I glanced at Ji Liang’an. His brow was tightly furrowed. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
Could he
be blaming me for getting in his way too?
I put down the sandwich I’d barely bitten and hurried to my feet.
“I’m going to class. You two keep eating.”
“I’ll drive you.”
“No need! Keep eating! I can go by myself!”
He’d already set down his spoon.
He walked into the entryway and took his suit jacket from the hook.
Changed his shoes.
And put my shoes on the floor as well.
“Why are you just standing there? Come here.”
I picked up my bag and shuffled over.
Ji Liang’an crouched down to help me into my little leather shoes.
“No need.”
His fingertips were cold enough to make me shiver.
He seemed to shiver too.
Had I imagined it?
He put both pairs of slippers into the shoe cabinet.
Then took my bag off my back.
It was all so natural, exactly like every day before.
If not for the comments flying overhead,
I really would’ve thought
this was an ordinary day.
Unfortunately,
it wasn’t.
We were divorced, and he’d welcomed a brand-new heroine into his life.
When we opened the front door,
a young man was standing in the yard.
Jin Ye held a bag of soy milk.
He waved at me.
“Baihe! Morning!”
Ji Liang’an looked at me, his brows lowering.
“This is what you meant by going by yourself?”
“We’re neighbors. We’re going the same way.”
I would never admit
that Jin Ye and I had arranged this last night.
I skipped over to him.
He handed me the soy milk.
“Iced. Your favorite.”
“Thanks.”
Ji Liang’an snatched it away.
His impassive gaze met Jin Ye’s flirtatious eyes.
“She can’t drink anything cold right now.”
“Can’t she, or do you just think she can’t?”
Jin Ye’s lips curved faintly. “Baihe divorced you.”
“Don’t you think you’re overstepping?”
“Mr. Ex-Husband.”

He replied at once.
“Remember?
