I asked a friend who knew all kinds of shady computer tricks for advice, and he figured the hacker was probably in the country.
The hacker was being exceptionally cautious. He’d bounced his IP address through several layers and didn’t dare contact me through domestic social media, obviously afraid of being traced.
After my inbox got flooded by netizens, he started shouting at me from overseas platforms instead:
“Liang Chi, 48 hours are up.
“I’ll give you one more day. If I still don’t get the money, I’ll make the photos public.”
Helpful netizens grabbed screenshots and posted them to Weibo.
I laughed and replied directly on Weibo:
“Raccoon Burning Incense, don’t chicken out! Why are you giving me more time? Just post them already!”
The comments section was stunned:
“What kind of move is this?”
“Why is she so bold?”
“I don’t get it!”
I knew the hacker didn’t actually want to release them. He couldn’t bear to lose that fifty million.
So I kept going:
“If netizens saw my photos, who wouldn’t say: That girl is so lucky-her ex-boyfriend is this handsome, and he’s got a body like that too!”
Secretly, I felt a little regret. It really was a shame we broke up.
But just a few minutes later, Weibo started lagging, and for the first time, I truly felt how enormous my influence was.
Within five minutes, I hit eight trending topics.
The post I made got shared like crazy, and the comments below were practically all the same:
“Want to see!”
“I’m so jealous!”
“Please, where do I sign up for a boyfriend like that?”
“I want all the info on her ex-boyfriend within one minute!”
“She’s so cocky. I love her!”

The hacker saw my comment too and replied from his overseas account:
“Liang Chi, do you even know shame?
“You two took ‘that kind’ of photo, and you’re actually showing it off!
“You’re a woman-do you even know any shame at all?”
I was speechless. I fired back on the spot:
“I took them for myself to look at. You’re the one making a fuss and insisting on releasing them, so what exactly do I have to be ashamed of?
“Besides, if you were really so full of shame, you wouldn’t even have the nerve to look at the photos. You should’ve poked your own eyes out.
“We’re all human beings on the same planet, so why are you such a hypocrite?”
The hacker got so provoked by me that he finally got straight to the point:
“Wire the money now. Don’t refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit.”
I laughed at him:
“Why are you so naive? Do I look like I have any intention of paying you?
“You opened your mouth and asked for fifty million. I bust my ass all day and only make 2.08 million.
“I’d need 24 days to earn that much. Wouldn’t I be better off keeping it to buy bags? Why would I give it to you?”
Half a minute later, the hacker started haggling:
“Then how about thirty million?”
