Chapter 2

At nearly fifty years old, I was taken by the Prince Regent.

All night long.

Thank goodness I had always taken good care of myself-tonics for every season, mountain hikes and temple visits whenever I had time.

Otherwise, he really might have done me in.

Sometime in the middle of the night, a guard knocked on the door.

“Your Highness, the antidote has arrived.”

What he heard instead were the utterly improper sounds of the Prince Regent working away on top of me.

The Prince Regent did not stop. He only turned his head and barked impatiently, “Get lost!”

The guard had a sudden realization. “So Your Highness has already found a suitable candidate. This subordinate will send that young lady back at once.”

I opened my mouth to cry for help.

“Help… help me…”

The Prince Regent covered my mouth. “Don’t shout. In a little while, you’ll be begging for mercy…”

He truly was fierce.

Even fiercer than my husband had been thirty-four years ago, on our wedding night.

My husband and I married when we were sixteen. By the time he was twenty-five, he was already not quite up to the task.

By thirty, he simply passed away and left me behind.

A man this vigorous-I had only ever seen such a thing in storybooks.

I felt a pleasure I had never known before.

“How… how can this be???”

The Prince Regent’s low, magnetic voice chuckled beside my ear. “You’re enjoying it too, aren’t you?”

That night, we were utterly absurd.

My string of 108 prayer beads snapped.

They scattered all over the bed beneath me.

At first, I was too weak to resist.

Later, I sank into it and no longer wanted to resist.

It was bliss.

Who would have thought that with one foot already halfway in the grave, this old body of mine could still enjoy such delight in love and desire?

Yet deep down, I was also faintly worried.

He was the Prince Regent, a man whose power shook the court and the realm. The Yong’an Marquis Manor was nothing more than an ordinary noble household. If the Prince Regent so much as lifted a finger, he could wipe out my entire family.

To avoid dragging my family down with me, I waited until he fell asleep, then dragged my exhausted body away and fled.

Because he had demanded far too much of me, I, a woman nearly fifty years old, had to lean on a cane, my legs trembling with every step.

The path down the mountain was even worse. My legs were weak, my waist ached, and it took every last ounce of effort before I barely managed to make it down.

My waiting maid, Hongshu, asked me, “Old Madam, the young miss has already been sent back. This servant has been waiting here for you for quite some time. You don’t look very well. Did something happen?”

Hearing that my granddaughter was fine, I secretly let out a breath of relief.

Seeing Hongshu still trying to ask where I had been, I hurriedly said, “Nothing happened. I accidentally rested for a while in one of the side rooms, which delayed my descent.”

“As long as Yan’er is all right. Let us return home!”

Sitting in the carriage, I pressed my palms together and chanted Amitabha, hoping no one would ever learn of this matter for the rest of my life.

Yet my mind was filled with the Prince Regent’s handsome face, his powerful build, his relentless assault…

Originally, I still had some impression of my late husband in my mind. Now, no matter how hard I tried, I could not recall him at all.

My husband and I had been childhood sweethearts. We married at sixteen, were parted by death when he was thirty, and I had kept my widowhood for him for twenty years!

I thought he would be the only man I would ever have in this life!

Who would have expected that in my old age, I would fall into temptation and lose my lifelong virtue at the very end?

“Sob, sob… Husband, I have wronged you…”
