Chapter 94
Chapter 94
After dealing with such a large herd of wild boars, everyone felt exhausted in both body and mind.
But when they saw the boars piled into a small mountain inside the cave, their fatigue vanished.
Without warning, someone knelt in front of Jin Bao.
“Miss Bao, you saved all our lives again. From now on, my life belongs to you.”
Jin Bao had been playing with the little squirrel. The sudden kowtow left her adorably bewildered.
Once one person took the lead, there was no controlling the situation.
The others all dropped to their knees and began kowtowing to Jin Bao as well.
At first, Jin Bao felt nothing unusual. But after everyone had kowtowed three times, she sensed that her strength had grown again. Even more astonishingly, a panoramic map of the Black Pine Forest appeared in her mind.
Jin Bao’s mouth fell open in surprise. She thumped her head repeatedly, but no matter how hard she shook it, the map remained.
This was completely different from the visions she had foreseen in the past.
She could zoom in on the map whenever she wished, clearly seeing the little birds perched in trees and every blade of grass across the mountains and rivers.
She could also zoom out to look down upon the entirety of the Black Pine Forest.
At this very moment, for example, she could see a pack of snow wolves surrounding a herd of wild goats a hundred li away, and a tiger dozing in a cave five hundred li away.
After kowtowing, everyone saw Jin Bao stand motionless for a long time with her little mouth still open. They grew uncertain. Had they frightened Miss Bao?
“My good daughter, everyone is thanking you. What’s wrong?”
Pei Wanqing was the first to realize something was off with Jin Bao. It was the look in her eyes.
Xiao Che hurriedly told everyone to rise. Jin Bao was still young, and having so many adults kneel before her might shorten her life.
Jin Bao finally snapped out of her trance. After staring blankly at Pei Wanqing, she ran straight out of the cave.
Spotting a tree as thick as an adult’s waist, she took a deep breath and gave it a casual kick. With a sharp crack, the trunk snapped and toppled to the ground.
Everyone who had followed Jin Bao outside froze in shock at that single kick.
“What did I just see?”
“Were my eyes playing tricks on me?”
“Quick, pinch me! I just saw Miss Bao kick down a tree!”
For a moment, everyone felt as if they were dreaming. Could someone with such divine strength truly exist in this world?
But they soon accepted it. When it came to Miss Bao, this somehow seemed entirely reasonable.
From Jin Bao’s movements, Xiao Che could tell she had probably used only twenty percent of her strength. In other words, her body had changed again, and her strength had increased.
But why had it suddenly increased?
Xiao Che reviewed everything that had just happened and found the key.
It happened when everyone kowtowed to thank Jin Bao. Could it have been the Power of Faith?
Everyone now regarded Jin Bao as their savior. That was the Power of Faith.
Xiao Che felt somewhat vexed. Moments ago, he had hurried everyone back to their feet, worried that Jin Bao could not bear so many people kneeling before her. It seemed he had overthought things. This was beneficial to Jin Bao.
It was an immeasurably good thing. From now on, it seemed the Xiao Family needed to perform more good deeds and accumulate blessings for Jin Bao.
“That’s enough staring. Everyone, get back inside. We killed so many wild boars tonight that we need to process them immediately. I’ll assign the tasks now.”
To divert everyone’s attention, Xiao Che quickly turned the conversation toward the wild boars.
Sure enough, everyone’s attention shifted to the boars inside the cave.
“Mr. Xu, Old Master Han and I will take some men to skin the boars and remove the organs. You lead another group to gather firewood nearby. Everyone else will cut the boars into smaller pieces.”
When they set out, all the men had brought the axes they had used to cut timber. Those tools finally came in handy.
There were seventeen wild boars. They could never finish processing all of them in less than two days.
But they did not have enough time to slowly roast all the boar meat into jerky. When they processed the wolf meat, they had plenty of fuel. The conditions here did not allow that. They could only process part of the meat and leave the rest outside, where it would freeze solid overnight. They could roast it fresh whenever they needed to eat.
Anyone injured this time was exempt from work. Those whose minor injuries from the last attack still limited their movement were exempt as well.
Everyone else received an assignment.
Xiao Jingmo had been directing the division of the meat when a tiny hand tugged at him.
He looked down and saw Jin Bao.
“Little Sister? What’s wrong?”
Xiao Jingmo bent down and picked up the little girl.
Jin Bao wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered in his ear, “Second Brother, a picture grew inside Baby’s head. Baby’s scared.”
The moment Xiao Jingmo heard this, he carried Jin Bao to Lu Shuangshuang.
He thought Jin Bao had expressed herself incorrectly. She was so young that she probably could not explain clearly and must mean that her head hurt. It would be safer to have Aunt Lu examine her.
After all, Jin Bao had just fought the wild boars. Who knew whether she had been injured?
Lu Shuangshuang was bandaging Xiao Jinghao’s wound. When she heard that Jin Bao felt unwell, she hurriedly tied off the bandage, took Jin Bao into her arms, and examined her carefully.
Lu Shuangshuang patiently asked several questions as well. Jin Bao answered each one fluently and showed no sign that anything was wrong with her mind.
“Second Young Master, the Young Miss shows no physical abnormalities. In fact, she seems even healthier than before. Could this be some other kind of problem? Please question her more carefully.”
Lu Shuangshuang was certain that Jin Bao’s issue was not caused by her physical condition. Anything beyond that was outside her ability to treat.
After thanking her, Xiao Jingmo carried Jin Bao away.
The siblings went outside the cave.
“Little Sister, what does the picture that grew inside your head look like?”
Xiao Jingmo felt that they needed to understand what had happened. His little sister was different from everyone else, and this might be a new ability.
Jin Bao tilted her head, unsure how to describe it. Even after adding together both her lives, she was only six years old.
Humanity had been on the verge of extinction in her previous life. She had learned very little and knew even fewer words.
Then she remembered the cartoon with Logger Vick. The image inside her head looked similar to that forest.
“There are lots and lots of trees in Baby’s head, and lots of little animals. Baby can see all of them!”
Jin Bao’s explanation was thoroughly jumbled. Even someone as brilliant as Xiao Jingmo could not understand what she meant.
When Jin Bao saw that even her clever Second Brother did not understand, she began to grow anxious.
She looked around and suddenly found her surroundings strangely familiar.
She abruptly smacked her own forehead.
“Second Brother, look at that fallen tree. It’s inside Baby’s head. Baby can see it!”
Xiao Jingmo felt he was beginning to understand, but the answer remained just beyond his grasp.
Seeing Second Brother still frowning, Jin Bao pointed at several nearby trees.
“Those too! They’re all in Baby’s head and on the picture. There’s also a wolf pack a hundred li away eating little sheep, and a tiger five hundred li away sleeping.”
As she spoke, Jin Bao pressed both hands together against the side of her head, closed her eyes, and pretended to snore.
Jin Bao did not know why she understood the distances. She simply knew.
Xiao Jingmo’s expression gradually began to change.
The confusion and bewilderment on his face slowly shattered, replaced by mounting delight.
“Little Sister, is the picture inside your head called a map?”
Jin Bao nodded her little head. “Uh-huh. It seems like it’s called a map.”
“Then is the cave in front of us also on that picture?”
Excitedly, Xiao Jingmo pointed at the cave before them.
Jin Bao looked at the cave, and its location instantly appeared in her mind.
“That’s right! Baby sees it!”
Xiao Jingmo took a deep breath. This was a tremendous surprise.
