Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Zhao Sisi looked completely lost.
“Dr. Fang, isn’t your sister in the hospital? Why did you say she’s in here?”
The others looked at her curiously as well, but Fang Qian fell silent again. She lowered her eyes, adjusted her backpack, and was the first to step into the tunnel.
“She’s probably talking about her soul. A vegetative state… maybe it’s soul loss syndrome.”
A person possesses Three Hun and Seven Po. Of the Three Hun, the first is the Heavenly Hun, the second is the Earthly Hun, and the third is the Life Hun. The Heavenly and Earthly Hun do not always reside within the human body; instead, they often drift outside.
Sometimes you visit a place you’ve never been before, yet it feels strangely familiar. That is a place your Heavenly or Earthly Hun has visited.
The Life Hun is different. It governs thought and action; a person’s Seven Po are all controlled by the Life Hun. If Fang Qian’s Sister left her Life Hun behind in the ancient tomb, she would become a vegetable, unable to move.
After hearing my explanation, Zhao Sisi immediately pressed closer to Lin Xin in fear.
“There’s something down there that can snatch souls? I’m so scared.”
Jiang Haoyan let out a cold snort. “Stop acting like a damsel in distress.”
Zhao Sisi glared at him, looking like she wanted to hit him. I pushed the siblings aside.
“Stop messing around. My eyelid has been twitching all day; it’s dangerous down there.”
I followed Fang Qian into the tunnel. It was an ordinary stone tomb. The entrance to the passage had been cleaned thoroughly, with electrical wires strung along both sides and a few fluorescent tubes hanging on the walls.
The tunnel was deep and narrow. Further in, it was pitch black, as if the light couldn’t even penetrate the darkness.
I had only walked a few steps when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach.
“Oh no… something was wrong with lunch.”
My face turned pale. Zhao Sisi froze for a moment before also reaching out to clutch her stomach.
“Ah, my stomach hurts so much too!”
“Lunch was poisoned!”
Not far ahead, Fang Qian suddenly turned around and let out a series of eerie, sinister laughs. “Jie-jie-jie-”
Everyone was shocked. Zhao Sisi pointed a trembling finger at Fang Qian.
“Was it you? Did you poison us?”
Fang Qian slowly walked toward us, her back to the deep tunnel. The light hit her face, leaving the upper half shrouded in shadow. Combined with her heterochromatic eyes, she looked exceptionally terrifying. Zhao Sisi couldn’t help but scream.
Fang Qian rolled her eyes.
“What did you guys eat for lunch?”
Lin Xin replied, “Spicy chicken, boiled fish in chili oil, and Mapo tofu.”
Fang Qian nodded and sighed.
“Alright, just go back and use the restroom. You ate things that were too spicy. Eight out of ten outsiders who come to Sichuan get diarrhea. It was my oversight.”
Just as she finished speaking, my stomach let out a loud, rumbling growl. I clutched my belly in embarrassment.
“I’m going first!”
There was a public restroom right next to the guard post, but it only had one stall. I was the first to seize it, while the others pounded on the door in desperation from outside.
