Chapter 1

“Master, the last fortune-teller told me I have big eyes, which is a sign of wealth and prosperity. Do you think I look the part?”

Yawning, I leaned closer to the computer screen and studied the person for a few seconds with a solemn expression.

“I think you look like you have hyperthyroidism. Stop trying to get your fortune told here and go make an appointment at the hospital this afternoon. Next!”

I ruthlessly cut the connection. The bullet chat immediately exploded with laughter and playful insults.

“This is the most scientific fortune-telling master I’ve ever seen.”

“Master? Please. She’s just a ‘pretty face’ streamer who doesn’t know a damn thing about fortune-telling. She’s just clout-chasing.”

I ignored them and moved on to the next person. The screen lagged for a moment before the face of a strange man appeared. He was wearing a mask and a baseball cap. He gave me a smile, his eyes narrowing into thin slits.

“Master, what do you think I look like?”

Finally. I immediately perked up.

“I think you look like a beast!”

“Pointed head, narrow forehead, short eyebrows, protruding bones, and sanpaku eyes showing way too much white… how many people have you killed?”

The man’s smile froze instantly.

Bullet chat: “Okay, that’s going too far. How can she see a pointed head and narrow forehead through a hat?”

“Yeah, and calling him a beast? Why is Master Qiao being so abusive?”

A second later, the man stopped smiling. A murderous glint flashed in his eyes. He slowly reached up, took off his hat, and gripped it in his hand. Then, he pulled out a sharp knife from off-camera and suddenly lunged, stabbing toward the screen.

The tip of the knife stopped just a millimeter from the camera lens. The bullet chat erupted.

“Holy crap! If I hadn’t paused the screen, I would’ve been stabbed to death!”

“Scared the life out of me! Mom, help!”

“This guy is a psycho! Why does he have a knife right there?”

The man suddenly became agitated, slashing the knife back and forth at the screen while breathing heavily.

“That’s right, I’m a murderer. And you’re the next one I’m going to kill. Just you wait, jie-jie-jie-”

His laughter was shrill and his tone eerie. The viewers were paralyzed with fear.

“There are all kinds of freaks these days.”

“This is genuinely terrifying.”

I let out a soft chuckle and provocatively flipped the bird at the screen.

“I’ll be waiting for you to come kill me. If you don’t show up, you’re a beast!”

I didn’t turn off the livestream. Instead, I took the time to set up a formation in the room. Through the lens, the audience could only see me placing copper coins in various spots and sticking down small triangular flags. They had no idea what I was actually doing.

“What is the streamer doing?”

“I don’t get it. Is she performing a ritual? I thought she was a fortune-teller; since when do they do rituals?”

“The streamer has nerves of steel. She didn’t react at all to that psycho’s threats.”

Just as I finished setting the formation, the door was violently pounded. A sharp, raspy voice shouted from the other side.

“Open up!”

The bullet chat went silent for a second before the screen was flooded with messages.

“Ahhh! I remember now! He’s that livestream murderer!”

“Streamer, run! I’m not joking, he really kills people!”

“Holy shit, I’m terrified! Someone call the police! Call the police!”

“Don’t open the door! Run! Run!”

Everyone was losing their minds, but my expression remained unchanged. I even gave the camera a little wave.

My name is Qiao Moyu. I’m a junior at Nanjiang University and the only contemporary Earth Master successor.

An Earth Master is what people in ancient times called a feng shui master.

As the saying goes: ‘First-class Earth Masters observe the stars; second-class masters seek the water’s source; third-class practitioners are a dime a dozen.’ Most of those walking the world today are just ordinary feng shui practitioners. Those capable of the art of observing stars and aura held positions in the Imperial Astronomical Bureau in ancient times, serving the imperial family.

The Qiao family ancestor was the Director of Imperial Observatory and the hereditary Wind Sect Leader. As the leader of the Feng Sect, it is my responsibility and duty to slay demons and uphold the righteous path.

A while ago, a series of serial murders suddenly occurred in Harbin.

In just one month, four people died in succession. The only thing the victims had in common was that they were all livestreaming right before they died. According to analyses by concerned netizens, these streamers had all insulted someone during their livestreams that day. The person they insulted always wore a hat or a mask, never revealing their true face.

The eerie part was that he could somehow track them down through the internet with incredible speed to commit the murders.

Initially, I thought it was just a regular murder case-until I happened to see a video. During a connection, the killer would jokingly drop a single question:

“Do you think I look like a human?”

I knew immediately. The killer wasn’t human.

So, I took a leave of absence and flew to Harbin. I rented an apartment and started livestreaming fortune-telling sessions to lure him in.

I was livestreaming fortune-telling when I connected with a male streamer.

When I asked if he had ever killed anyone, his expression shifted instantly. “Yeah,” he replied....
