Chapter 2

These two novels were companion pieces written by the same author.

I wanted to off that author.

Su Ruanruan was Gu Beichen’s treasure. I was Shen Xingjin’s plaything.

Could we not just be treated like human beings?

After Su Ruanruan and I awakened, we kept trying to change the direction of the plot.

I had my parents track down Shen Xingjin, planning to try diplomacy before force.

We told him the truth about the Shen Family’s bankruptcy.

My parents said, “Xingjin, we did give your father a sum of money back then, but he gambled it all away.”

Shen Xingjin said, “Heh. I don’t believe you.”

I found the evidence and showed it to him.

Shen Xingjin said, “I’m not listening, I’m not listening, I’m not listening! I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it!”

If the soft approach didn’t work, then we’d go hard.

When Shen Xingjin started his business, Bai Corporation did everything it could to trip him up.

But it was useless.

Shen Xingjin was as if favored by the Heavenly Dao, luckily making connections with big shots from every industry.

“Why do two lunatics have to fall in love? Why do they have to drag normal people into it?”

We stopped what we were doing, calmed ourselves down, had some tea, and ate a bun.

Lu Qingyuan worked in scientific research. He used his computer to show us a bunch of code and formulas I couldn’t understand.

“I plan to develop a kind of chip that can tamper with a person’s memories and transfer their emotions.”

“Gu Beichen and Shen Xingjin are both favored sons of fortune. The plot direction follows their thoughts, so we’ll change their thoughts at the source.”

I was a little worried. “Is that reliable?”

Su Ruanruan comforted me. “This is the best option we have right now. I believe in Qingyuan.”

There were still three years before Gu Beichen would forcefully seize Su Ruanruan.

There were also still three years before Shen Xingjin would return and repay kindness with betrayal.
