Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I was born deep in the mountains.
My father was lame. My mother thought he was too poor, so when I was having my one-month baby photos taken, she ran off with the photographer.
After that, my father took me to the city. He worked odd jobs while looking for my mother.
He had never gone to school, and with his bad leg, all he could do was the dirty, backbreaking work no one else wanted. He lived frugally and saved every penny to put me through school.
Unfortunately, during my senior year of high school, he was killed in an accident at a construction site.
I was living on campus, and when the foreman couldn’t get in touch with me, he asked around and found my cousin-uncle.
In the end, my cousin-uncle collected the compensation money, but he wouldn’t even pay for my father’s cremation.
My father’s body was left at the crematorium. Later, somehow, it simply disappeared.
I rushed back to my hometown to demand the compensation money back, but my cousin-uncle shoved a stack of IOUs in my face and sent me away.
Once everything was tallied up, not only was the compensation gone, even our homestead had been used to settle the debt. On top of that, I supposedly still owed him eighty-eight thousand yuan.
Over the years, there had been more and more bachelors in our old village. Several of them had their eyes on me, and the bride price they offered reached over a hundred thousand.
When I refused, my cousin-uncle locked me in an abandoned house.
Thankfully, I still had an aunt.
The night before I was to be married off, she pried open the lock on the abandoned house and let me out.
After leaving my hometown, I worked in a factory, became a nanny, waited tables, and delivered takeout.
Maybe it was because I looked weak and had no family to rely on, but no matter what I did, malicious eyes always found me.
At the factory, the foreman set his sights on me.
As a nanny, my employer took advantage of me.
As a waitress, I was humiliated by the chef.
Even when I delivered takeout, people mistook me for the kind of delivery that wasn’t about food.
After my father died, the world turned into a ravenous beast. It tore me open and began to devour me whole.
Until two years ago, when someone introduced me to Golden Sand Beach Club.
Uncle Xiong, don’t you think that’s strange?
When I was doing honest work, I kept running into indecent people.
But now that I’m the indecent one, the people I meet are all gentlemen like you.
At Golden Sand Beach, I found the warmth of home again.
Sister Hua from the technical department taught me how to love and be loved.
Sister Mei from sales introduced me to many people who loved me.
Brother Wei from the medical department gives me regular checkups and teaches me how to take care of my body.
I’m an orphan.
Out there in the world, there stopped being any place for me long ago.
Golden Sand Beach is my home.
Here, I have friends. I have family. I have also met many, many benefactors.
To be honest, my life hasn’t been very lucky.
But I will still live on, ripe and full of juice.
Because modest gentlemen like you, Uncle Xiong, have always cherished me and loved me.
Uncle Xiong was deeply moved after hearing this. He pulled me onto his lap and had me again.

The storm had passed.
Uncle Xiong rolled off me, sated, pillowing his head on my arm as the tip of his nose nuzzled into the hollow of my neck.
