Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I was a frail young woman with barely enough strength to truss a chicken.
Climbing through windows was hardly my specialty.
When I tumbled into the room, I made no small amount of noise.
But Shen Yanci did not notice.
He was leaning against the bedpost, his collar slightly open, exposing a stretch of collarbone. His hair was disheveled, a few loose strands falling over his forehead.
His breathing was heavy and suppressed, his chest rising and falling.
An overwhelming rush of masculine heat came crashing toward me.
Almost instantly, my body reacted.
I couldn’t control myself as I walked toward him, my steps unsteady, as if I were treading on clouds.
Before I could even touch him, he seized me by the waist and pulled me into his arms.
His palm was shockingly hot. Even through my clothes, I could feel that burning heat.
“Sit on me.”
His voice was hoarse beyond recognition, like sandpaper scraping over stone.
Good. It was still my favorite position.
Before I could react, he had already begun to move.
In the haze of desire, he suddenly asked in a low voice,
“Is it Ruyan?”
Ruyan was the name of that bed-warming Female Supporting Character.
I said nothing.
I only raised my hand, lifted my veil slightly, then bent down and kissed him.
He paused.
Then he clasped the back of my neck and deepened the kiss.
I did not look into his eyes.
I didn’t know whether he had seen my face clearly.
I thought he probably had not.
Otherwise, how could he treat me, his distant adoptive younger sister…
with such natural, ruthless possession?
My fingers clenched the bedsheet.
I felt my elder brother’s movements.
And without realizing it, I let out a satisfied sigh.
At the critical moment, a clear female voice came from beyond the curtain, neither too close nor too far.
“Young Master, the madam had the small kitchen prepare a bowl of soup for you. This servant has brought it over.”
It was Ruyan.
My entire body went rigid.
Shen Yanci stopped as well.
But instinct moved faster than reason.
The moment I shifted, he could no longer care about anything else and finished the final step.
My mind stayed blank for a long time.
When I finally came back to myself, his calm voice sounded above my head, impossible to read.
“Put it on the table. You may leave.”
“…Yes.”
Footsteps faded away.
The room fell silent once more.
I lay against his chest.
With my veil still covering me, I buried my face in the hollow of his neck, not daring to move.
He did not move either.
Only after a very long while did he speak.
“Who are you?”
“Show me your face. Let me see.”

Then one day, I coughed up a mouthful of blood from my...
