Chapter 5
Chapter 5
With more than half a month left before my Master’s Third Seventh memorial service, I gave all the money I had on me to Kong Yi.
She didn’t want to take it, but Master’s Wife needed proper care for her health. Kong Yi had only just graduated, and her salary wasn’t nearly enough to cover their expenses.
“Big Brother, I’ll definitely pay you back. My mom told me that my dad left a house for me that even my brother doesn’t know about. I’ll sell it later.”
“Silly girl, that’s something your father left for your security. How can you just sell it? Don’t worry, I have ways to make money.”
I wasn’t lying to Kong Yi. Although I was still carrying debt, I had already paid off a significant portion of it.
It was just that my methods of making money were somewhat… unconventional.
When I was twelve, I saved an old Taoist who had fallen into a ditch. The old man was a bit eccentric.
He told me, “You have the face of an Asura but the heart of a Bodhisattva. You’re destined to make a living in the world of Yin and Yang.”
Then, he gave me an eleven-section Soul-Whip made of peach wood.
I didn’t take it seriously at the time and kept the Soul-Whip tucked away in a cabinet until my life hit rock bottom.
To pay off my debts, I began cleansing haunted houses and severing karmic ties for people.
I retrieved the Soul-Whip and started carrying it with me.
Looking back, from the time I started out driving and performing Chongsha, I suppose I was never really that far from the “world of Yin and Yang” the old man spoke of.
After the funeral ended and I had settled Master’s Wife and Kong Yi in, I immediately rushed off to meet a client.
This client had been introduced to me by a friend. He was a man around my age.
His name was Wei Zhang, a man in the liquor business. He was slightly plump with a very noticeable beer belly.
Usually, someone in their thirties should have some vitality, but the man I saw looked like a patient who had been bedridden for a long time. He couldn’t even straighten his back.
When he saw me, he didn’t seem particularly excited, as if he had already lost all hope. “I thought you’d be some kind of transcendent master from the mountains.”
“I’m just an ordinary person,” I said, sitting down in front of him.
According to Wei Zhang, he used to be a healthy, normal person. Even if he had minor health issues, they were nothing more than a need to lose weight and manage his diet.
But starting from the beginning of this year, he had suddenly fallen ill.
It began with dizziness, then shortness of breath, and gradually, his entire body began to ache.
“It feels as if… a mountain is crushing down on me.”
Wei Zhang’s body trembled as he spoke.
“I’ve been to every hospital, every department. I’ve even seen a psychiatrist.”
Wei Zhang gave a miserable smile. “But they couldn’t find anything wrong. Now, I can only survive by taking painkillers.”

Soul-Whip 2: Chongsha
The first time I went out on a long-haul run with my Master, I suddenly heard someone calling my name in the middle of the night.
The voice made my heart race.
