Chapter 7

Yun Youyou had just returned to the office when the Dean strolled in through the door.

“How is that raw marinade from yesterday coming along? Bring it out and let me see.”

He had specifically left room in his stomach just to eat this raw marinade.

The Unlucky Teacher hauled a large vat out from the corner like he was presenting a treasure. “Dean, it’s all ready! Just smell that aroma!”

The Dean leaned in and took a deep breath.

The scent of baijiu mixed with green onions, ginger, and garlic was incredibly fragrant.

“Not bad! Hurry, open it up and let me see!”

Several nearby teachers gathered around, practically drooling.

It had been a long time since they’d eaten a human; they had almost forgotten what one tasted like.

Yun Youyou also stood on the periphery, pretending to join in the excitement.

She had absolutely no interest in eating humans. Besides, there was nothing in there but a piece of wood; what was there to eat?

Under the covetous gazes of the ghosts, the wooden lid of the large vat was slowly lifted.

Yun Youyou felt a bit of a craving herself as she smelled the cilantro.

She didn’t know where this ghost had found these ingredients, but it looked quite professional.

“There doesn’t seem to be anyone in here?”

Teacher Lu stared for a long while, drooling, but couldn’t smell the scent of human flesh. The inside of the vat was pitch black; nothing could be seen.

“He must have sunk to the bottom.”

The Unlucky Teacher produced a large iron ladle from somewhere and began scooping from the bottom of the vat.

He fished around for a long time without bringing up a single piece of meat, but he did find a piece of wood.

The Unlucky Teacher began to panic, a thin layer of sweat breaking out on his forehead.

“One really should pay attention to food hygiene. Even as a ghost, you can’t be careless,” Yun Youyou remarked quietly from the side.

The Unlucky Teacher grew even more nervous, wiping the sweat from his brow.

“I really put the human in yesterday! This wood must have fallen in from the lid. I even made sure to wash my hands when I was marinating him; I’m very particular about hygiene!”

Beside him, the Dean’s face had turned completely dark.

After all that scooping, no human had appeared. Whether there was even anyone in the vat was now a serious question.

Teacher Lu stood nearby with her arms crossed, saying eerily, “You didn’t secretly eat him yourself, did you?”

Since she wouldn’t get to eat anyway with the Dean there, she might as well muddy the waters.

“I didn’t!”

The Unlucky Teacher quickly shouted back in protest, “I didn’t touch a single hair on that human’s head! How could I have eaten him?”

The Dean sneered. “I don’t care who ate him. I’m hungry right now, and since the human is gone, you’ll have to be the one to fill my stomach.”

“Don’t eat me! I really put the human in there!”

Black mist surged from the Dean’s body, instantly enveloping the Unlucky Teacher.

Looking closer, one would realize it wasn’t mist at all, but an Insect Mist composed of individual Black Winged Insects.

From within the Insect Mist, the Unlucky Teacher let out a series of shrill, agonizing screams.

“Ahhh!”

Through the gaps in the black mist, one could see the insects landing on his body, using their sharp mandibles to tear away chunks of flesh.

Before long, the figure inside the black mist had become a mangled mess of flesh and blood.

The surroundings fell into a dead silence. The teachers stood to the side, holding their breath, terror hidden in their eyes.

They knew their power was negligible compared to the Dean’s.

The Dean only needed to wave his hand to devour them whole-skin, bones, and all-leaving not even a speck behind.

A few minutes later, the black mist vanished.

And the ghost who had been enveloped in the black mist was gone as well.
After a full meal, the Dean’s mood improved significantly.

“You all continue working. Come find me if anything happens.”

Having said that, the Dean leisurely left the classroom.

The teachers wouldn’t dare look for him; they were afraid that if they found him while he was hungry, he’d swallow a ghost in one bite.

Being an NPC these days came with extreme occupational hazards.

Once the Dean left, the other teachers returned to their workstations.

Teacher Lu picked up her textbook and stood up to head to the classroom.

Yun Youyou was curious about how she taught, so she struck up a conversation: “Teacher Lu, could I sit in on your class? I’ve always felt you’re a very cultured ghost, and I’d like to experience some of that intellectual atmosphere.”

Teacher Lu couldn’t resist flattery.

She haughtily flipped her hair. “One look at you and I can tell you’re not the cultured type. Fine, I’ll let you listen in.”

Having successfully played Teacher Lu, Yun Youyou dragged a stool and followed her to the classroom with a skip in her step.

As soon as they entered the classroom, Teacher Lu’s expression turned cold.

The three remaining students in the classroom looked at the female ghost on the podium, then at their Homeroom Teacher behind her, unsure what these two female ghosts were up to now.

Perhaps because there was an observer in the back, Teacher Lu was exceptionally strict today.

Like Yun Youyou, she enjoyed playing “Little Train.”

However, her version of the Little Train was much more thrilling than Yun Youyou’s.

“Alright, we’ll play Little Train as usual. Say the English word within three seconds. If you can’t, I’ll chop off an arm to have as a snack.”

Sitting in the back, Yun Youyou broke into a cold sweat for the students.

This wasn’t just any Little Train; this was the Super Invincible Thunder Train.

One slip-up and you’d lose a limb.

But as she looked around, she noticed the students below didn’t seem nervous at all.

Ji Lin’s composure was understandable; after all, he looked like the cool, aloof handsome type.

But why were the other two so calm?

While Yun Youyou was lost in thought, Teacher Lu’s Little Train had already begun.

“Tent.”

Wang Yuanyou stood up and, without a second thought, blurted out, “Live house.”

Yun Youyou: “???”

That didn’t sound right?

But Teacher Lu didn’t care. She walked over to Ji Lin. “Computer.”

“Computer.”

Teacher Lu nodded and walked over to the female Player.

“Travelogue.”

“Vlog.”

Yun Youyou was full of question marks.

But Teacher Lu acted as if she hadn’t noticed anything and continued her Little Train.

“Hot spring.”

“Gulugulu water.”

Yun Youyou: …

No wonder these students weren’t worried; there really was no need to be.

With Teacher Lu’s level of English, they could probably get away with speaking Pinyin.

Teacher Lu had a mind to show off, so she specifically added an extra segment today.

“You two, have a conversation in English.”

Ji Lin turned his head away, refusing to look.

He didn’t want to be part of something so embarrassing.

Seeing that Ji Lin had no intention of stepping forward, Wang Yuanyou had no choice but to go up with a long face.

It seemed losing face was inevitable.

The female Player also walked to the front, her face flushed.

She wasn’t afraid; she just felt pure embarrassment.

“Alright, begin.”

With a wave of Teacher Lu’s hand, everyone’s eyes in the classroom focused on the two in front.

Wang Yuanyou had no choice but to summon the few English phrases etched into his very bones.

(A completely brainless, silly story)

Yun Youyou opened her eyes and found that she had inexplicably become an NPC in a Horror Game.

The stingy Game: No salary, no benefits-as long as...
