Chapter 5
Chapter 5
“You dare cut off my tongue? I’ll make sure you die a miserable death!”
Teacher Huang’s eyes were bloodshot as he suddenly charged at Ji Lin.
At this moment, he had completely lost his rationality, driven by a single thought-make Ji Lin pay a bloody price.
Ji Lin neither dodged nor retreated.
The next second, Teacher Huang’s body froze in place as if something had clamped around his throat. His face went from ashen pale to a furious red in an instant, white foam spilling from his mouth.
He convulsed all over, struggling with everything he had.
Unfortunately, it was all useless.
The Game’s icy electronic voice sounded.
[Staff Member 016 has violated the game rules. NPCs are forbidden from attacking Players without authorization.]
Teacher Huang disappeared from where he stood.
In the void, the Game tore him into piece after piece and fed him to the other colleagues.
And the moment Teacher Huang’s tongue had been cut out, Yun Youyou had already sensed something was terribly wrong and made a clean getaway.
Ji Lin saw her little move clearly.
To him, Yun Youyou was laughably weak-so weak there wasn’t even any need to chase her down and deal with her.
The Yun Youyou who fled had no idea it was her being such small fry that saved her life.
On the way back, Yun Youyou ran into Teacher Lu, who wore a broad smile.
“You’re back too? Where’s Teacher Huang?”
Teacher Lu looked past Yun Youyou. He didn’t see a single ghost, and a trace of suspicion flashed in his eyes.
Yun Youyou said evenly, “Teacher Huang told me a few things and then left.”
Teacher Lu didn’t doubt her at all, but his brows knitted together.
“He ran off to slack somewhere again. Sooner or later, he’s going to get fed to someone else by the Game as an extra snack.”
Yun Youyou silently thought: *No need to wait for ‘sooner or later.’ He’s already in someone else’s stomach.*
Teacher Huang’s gruesome fate only made Yun Youyou more determined: she had to be a salted fish. If anything happened, she absolutely could not rush to the front.
Even when the sky began to lighten, Teacher Huang still hadn’t returned.
The other teachers seemed used to colleagues vanishing without warning, quietly doing their own work.
Yun Youyou couldn’t help feeling her scalp prickle.
If she died in the Game, would no one care either?
Whatever. Thinking about it wouldn’t change anything. She was a weakling-anyone could come along and bully her.
Yun Youyou squatted down and dug through a dust-caked cabinet, finding a stack of math test papers.
Perfect. Now she knew exactly how to bluff her way through today’s math class.
“All teachers, gather in the meeting room immediately. We’re holding a meeting.”
A middle-aged man strode into the office with a steady, squared-off gait.
He had a broad, square face. His potbelly stretched his white shirt into a taut arc, and the hair on the top of his head was a little sparse. Judging by his outfit, he looked like some kind of administrator.
And from the way the surrounding ghosts behaved-respectful to the point they didn’t even dare lift their heads-this “leader” was probably a small Boss, nothing like them, the disposable NPCs.
Yun Youyou also lowered her head, copying everyone else.
The meeting room wasn’t big, and the table and chairs were all coated in dust.
The school leader frowned slightly and didn’t sit down right away.
In that instant, Yun Youyou was struck by inspiration. She quickly pulled out a packet of tissues from her pocket and eagerly wiped the leader’s chair clean, then went full lackey and wiped down the table as well.
“All clean, Leader. Please have a seat.”
The school leader gave Yun Youyou an approving look.
This new staff member might be trash in terms of strength, but at least she was sensible. If the chance came up, he could promote her.
The other teachers’ looks toward Yun Youyou changed instantly.
Even as a ghost, she was still grinding this hard. Disgusting.
The leader sat in the front seat. “I heard a few new students have arrived recently. Our school has always placed great importance on discipline, so later, during Evening Self-Study, you’ll come with me. We’ll go take a look and see whether our students are really as obedient as they claim to be.”
He gave the other ghosts a look, and they all understood immediately.
On the way back, Yun Youyou followed beside Teacher Lu and asked humbly, “Why did the leader suddenly decide to check Evening Self-Study?”
Teacher Lu rolled her eyes. “Aren’t you supposed to be good at brown-nosing? How can you not even understand something so simple? When the Dean says that, he obviously intends to ‘educate’ those students properly.”
So that man just now was the Dean.
During class, Yun Youyou gave a simple reminder: “Everyone must attend Evening Self-Study today.”
The couple didn’t have much of a reaction.
Ji Lin looked up with a hint of surprise, seemingly not expecting Yun Youyou to share such crucial information with them.
After class.
Wang Yuanyou immediately leaned over to Ji Lin. “What do you think our Homeroom Teacher means? Would she really be kind enough to warn us? Could there be a trap?”
Ji Lin, however, didn’t necessarily think it was a trap.
For one, even if it were a trap, he wasn’t afraid.
Secondly, the Homeroom Teacher didn’t seem like someone with so many schemes. You could see right through her eyes; they were full of clarity and a sort of pure stupidity.
It was a good thing Yun Youyou didn’t know Ji Lin’s assessment of her, or she would have probably exploded with rage.
Night soon fell.
All four Players were sitting obediently in their seats.
“Oh no, I forgot my School Badge in the dorm. What should I do?”
The only girl among the Players frantically searched through her desk drawer. Only after checking every corner was she certain that her School Badge was indeed left in the dormitory.
“It should be fine if I don’t wear it, right?”
The boy glanced down at his watch. “Evening Self-Study is about to start. If you go get it now, you might not make it back in time.”
“But I’m a little scared. What if those ghosts…”
The two of them had participated in a Game before, and they had seen firsthand how unreasonable the ghosts could be.
The boy gritted his teeth. “There are still twenty minutes left. If I run back to get it for you, I should make it in time.”
Wang Yuanyou couldn’t help but interject, “What if you don’t make it?”
“I’ll definitely make it!” the girl blurted out. “Hurry up and go!”
The boy quickly ran out of the classroom.
Wang Yuanyou shook his head as he watched the boy’s retreating figure.
Whether or not one wore the School Badge wasn’t actually that important; the most important thing was not being late for Evening Self-Study.
These were the School Rules that the Homeroom Teacher had specifically emphasized.
Young people these days were really reckless; you couldn’t even talk sense into them.
The minute hand ticked forward bit by bit.
It took ten minutes to walk from the classroom to the dormitory. Adding in the time to find the School Badge, it was uncertain whether he could make it back before six o’clock.
With five minutes left, the girl was consumed with anxiety, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on the clock at the back of the classroom.
*Faster! Just a little faster!*
One minute left.
With only five seconds remaining, the classroom door opened.
The girl looked toward the door with joy.
However, standing at the door was not the boy, but a group of teachers led by the Dean.
“One, two, three… Why are there only three students? The new student is truly disobedient, not even showing up for Evening Self-Study.”
The Dean looked at the scene with satisfaction.
The more disobedient the students were, the better; that way, he could properly “educate” them.
“Teacher Yun, go find that disobedient student.”
