The two of them were chatting when a heavy thud of footsteps suddenly echoed from the depths of the corridor.

A figure emerged from the darkness.

Yun Youyou looked up.

Half of the newcomer’s face was hidden in shadow. He had a refined countenance, with dark brown hair falling across his forehead in a messy yet effortless style.

Doctor Lan was indeed as handsome and elegant as Nurse Fang had described.

Before Yun Youyou could react, Nurse Fang had already rushed over to him, her face beaming with a smile so warm it seemed to radiate from every strand of her hair.

“Doctor Lan, you’re finally here! You’ve really done us a huge favor. I was just worrying about where to find a doctor, and I’m so glad you were willing to help!”

Nurse Fang grinned from ear to ear, rubbing her hands together as she greeted Doctor Lan enthusiastically.

Doctor Lan smiled and replied, “There’s no need to be so polite. It just so happens that I’m not busy on my end, so coming over to help is no trouble at all.”

After speaking, his gaze shifted to Yun Youyou, who was standing behind Fang Yu.

After everything she had been through this morning, the hair Yun Youyou had pinned back was a bit loose. Her skin was fair and translucent, glowing with a soft luster, and her delicate features possessed an air of innocent charm.

She didn’t look like a ghost; she looked more like a student still in school.

Doctor Lan asked curiously, “And this is?”

Fang Yu quickly introduced her. “This is our new nurse, Yun Youyou. Perhaps she’ll even go to work in your Instance in the future.”

“Hello.”

Doctor Lan smiled and extended his hand toward Yun Youyou.

Yun Youyou shook it gently. “Hello, Doctor Lan.”

The two smiled at each other.

With a handsome man and a beautiful woman standing together, they were a truly pleasing sight to behold.

Deep down, Fang Yu’s inner fangirl began to flutter.

Since there was no chance for her and Doctor Lan to be together anyway, as the saying goes, ‘don’t let the fertile water flow into someone else’s field.’ Rather than letting some stranger have him, she might as well introduce Yun Youyou to Doctor Lan. At the very least, they looked incredibly well-matched.

Fang Yu made up her mind and began to subtly create opportunities for them.

Yun Youyou chatted briefly with Doctor Lan and found that both his manner of speaking and the topics he chose were very pleasant.

Doctor Lan caught Fang Yu’s little performance out of the corner of his eye.

However, he only gave a faint smile and didn’t take it to heart.

“Alright, you go and rest then.”

And just like that, Yun Youyou was assigned the task.

She was actually quite curious about the treatments at the Ghostly Mental Hospital and wondered what methods they used.

Yun Youyou followed Doctor Lan to the first patient’s room.

Wang Yuanyou, who lived in the room across the hall, pressed himself against his door curiously, peering out through the frosted glass in the middle.

“Who’s that standing next to Yun Youyou? He looks pretty handsome. He’s wearing a white coat, so he must be a doctor here, right?”

Ji Lin was leaning against the head of his bed, flipping through a book. Hearing this, he merely gave a soft, noncommittal “Mm.”
While Ji Lin didn’t seem to be in any hurry, Wang Yuanyou was already feeling a sense of crisis.

Doctors and nurses spent all day together; it was almost inevitable that some romantic sparks would fly.

Moreover, this doctor was quite outstanding in both appearance and temperament. Although he couldn’t quite match up to Ji Lin, he was still a cut above the average person.

If Yun Youyou were to fall in love with someone else, no matter how indifferent Ji Lin acted on the surface, wouldn’t he just end up crying secretly under his covers later?

Although Wang Yuanyou had never seen Ji Lin shed a tear, he was firmly convinced that his theory was correct.

At this thought, he stopped watching the drama from afar and rushed over to Ji Lin’s side.

“Stop reading and get up! Go get dressed up! If you don’t start making an effort, you’re going to lose!”

He frowned slightly. “If you’re that bored, go find something useful to do.”

He had no idea what went on in Wang Yuanyou’s head half the time; the guy was always coming up with one nonsense idea after another.

Wang Yuanyou looked pained. “I’m doing this for your own good. If you weren’t my brother, do you think I’d be this worried?”

“There’s a super handsome doctor right next to Yun Youyou. Can’t you feel even a little bit of a threat?”

Ji Lin’s frown deepened. “What does that have to do with me?”

Wang Yuanyou: “??? If it has nothing to do with you, does it have something to do with me?”

Ji Lin nonchalantly turned a page in his book. “If you like her, go pursue her yourself.”

Wang Yuanyou’s temper flared.

“Fine! I’ll pursue her myself! Don’t you dare regret it later!”

Ji Lin merely let out a light chuckle upon hearing this, not taking it to heart at all.

In the ward across from them.

Doctor Lan wore a white lab coat and a pair of black-rimmed glasses, which added a touch of refined elegance to his look. He appeared very professional and trustworthy.

Yun Youyou stood by his side curiously, waiting for him to begin treating the patients.

With a new doctor arriving, the two patients on the beds also sized up Doctor Lan with confusion.

This new doctor was so young; he looked much more reliable than that Doctor Huang.

Doctor Lan adjusted his glasses and asked with a smile, “I’ve reviewed both of your medical records. It’s schizophrenia, right?”

One patient replied, “Yes, yes, yes! I always feel like there’s someone else talking in my ear. I’ve asked others and they say they don’t hear anything, but I’m the only one who hears it.”

The other patient added, “I feel like someone is talking in my ear right now! I suspect there’s another person living inside my body.”

Doctor Lan nodded thoughtfully.

“Alright, I have a general understanding of the situation. Let’s begin the treatment now.”

The two patients’ eyes lit up. “How are we going to be treated? That Doctor Huang from before was useless. All he knew how to do was give us electric shocks all day. It didn’t help at all and it hurt like hell.”

“Don’t worry, my method of treatment is definitely effective.”

Doctor Lan calmly handed the medical records to Yun Youyou, then turned around and pulled a small electric chainsaw out of the toolbox beside him.

No wonder he insisted on carrying that toolbox with him.

Yun Youyou took a quick glance from a distance and saw that it was filled with axes, hammers, pliers, and other such tools.

“W-W-What is that?”

The two patients panicked the moment they saw the chainsaw.

They were all too familiar with chainsaws!

That new nurse was always waving a chainsaw around, to the point where they panicked the moment they saw one now.

Looking closer, wasn’t that new nurse standing right behind this doctor?!

The two patients huddled into a ball against their headboards. “D-Doctor, how exactly are you planning to treat us?”
