Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Yun Youyou listened in a fog, not expecting Ji Lin to actually know what he was doing.
She called on the couple again, but they stammered and still couldn’t give a proper answer.
So the rest of the period turned into Yun Youyou’s solo time.
“You’re the worst class I’ve ever taught. How are you going to take the exam like this? I’ve explained these problems how many times now…?”
Yun Youyou scolded them for half the lesson, furious at their hopelessness. Only when the bell rang did she pick up the math textbook and stroll out.
Before she left, she glanced at Ji Lin.
“From now on, you’re my math class representative.”
After Yun Youyou left, Wang Yuanyou finally returned to his seat.
“The ghosts in this Game are getting better and better at messing with people. I’d rather they just fight us head-on. That Little Train is basically my life’s trauma. I hate every teacher who makes people do Little Train.”
“But the way she talks really is kind of like my old Homeroom Teacher. Say… you think that female ghost might’ve been a teacher when she was alive?”
Ji Lin slouched against the back of his chair and didn’t bother responding.
Having muddled through a whole class, Yun Youyou went back to her office.
She had no idea how the other ghost teachers managed their lessons.
When night came, all the Players had to return to their dormitories.
As for the teachers, it was time for them to come out and make trouble.
At night, the ghosts’ power surged.
Several teachers curled their lips into vicious smiles, ready to show those Players who was boss.
They were only a handful of humans-nothing to be afraid of.
Four Players. Five teachers. Each teacher took one, and one teacher would be left without a target.
Teacher Lu had already reverted to his original form. Blood seeped from his neck, his face was a ghastly bluish-green, and his swollen eyes bulged grotesquely.
Out of the five teachers, only Yun Youyou still looked the same as before.
The blood dripping from Teacher Lu had pooled into a dark puddle by his feet.
Yun Youyou silently took a step back and volunteered, “How about I sit this one out? You four can go have fun with the Players.”
She had zero interest in anything bloody or brutal. She’d rather find somewhere to sleep and get her beauty rest.
Teacher Lu folded his arms and let out a cold laugh. “Trying to slack off? Dream on.”
Left with no choice, Yun Youyou joined the draw.
These ghosts clearly enjoyed tormenting Players, but the moment a coworker tried to rest, they couldn’t stand it.
Yun Youyou drew Dormitory 208.
To keep Yun Youyou from slacking off, Teacher Huang-the one with the bye-was assigned to supervise her.
On the first night, the Ghost NPCs couldn’t kill Players directly, but there was nothing stopping them from having a little fun.
Yun Youyou and Teacher Huang arrived outside the door to Dormitory 208.
Yun Youyou was about to knock and go in when Teacher Huang finally snapped.
He hated newbies like this-clueless ghosts who didn’t know a thing. He’d rather just eat her.
“Are you stupid? You’re a ghost. Just go through the wall. Why are you using the front door?”
Yun Youyou suddenly realized.
She’d only just become a ghost-her professional skills were still lacking.
With guidance from a seasoned vengeful ghost, Yun Youyou floated up from the floor and slipped straight through the wall into Dormitory 208.
The sensation of passing through the wall was bizarre, like a character clipping through the map in a game.
Yun Youyou went back and forth more than ten times before she finally stopped, cowed by Teacher Huang’s impatient stare.
The dormitory was pitch-black. Four metal-framed bunk beds lined the wall, their rails mottled with rust. From the bathroom at the very back came the steady drip-drip-drip of water.
There wasn’t even the sound of someone breathing.
Goosebumps prickled up Yun Youyou’s arms.
Even though she’d already turned into a ghost, the truth was-she was still scared of ghosts.
She whispered to Teacher Huang beside her, “What should I do?”
Teacher Huang was clearly experienced, saying haughtily, “Isn’t it simple? Just crawl on the ceiling and make a face to scare him, or stand by his bed with your hair all messy. If all else fails, use some blood-like this.”
Teacher Huang tilted his head to the side.
His head and neck separated completely, held together only by a final shred of skin; from a distance, it was a bloody mess.
Blood sprayed from his neck, staining a wall red in the blink of an eye.
Yun Youyou shook her head silently.
These ghosts were way too violent. Weren’t they worried about becoming anemic?
Yun Youyou didn’t want to get her own blood everywhere.
She pulled all her hair forward to cover her face and grabbed a nearby curtain to wrap around herself. With this look, she really did have a bit of a Sadako vibe.
Yun Youyou floated to the bedside and peered through the gaps in her hair at the person on the bed.
Only then did she realize there was only a quilt on the bed-no one was there at all.
Strange, where was he?
Yun Youyou brushed aside her hair and looked around.
Since she had torn down the curtain on the right, the faint moonlight was now streaming through the window, illuminating half the room.
Sensing something, Yun Youyou looked down and suddenly noticed a creepy, terrifying shadow on the floor behind her.
She whipped her head around and saw a pair of eyes staring coldly at her from behind the door.
“Mommy! A ghost!”
Yun Youyou’s face turned pale as she stumbled back several steps.
Ji Lin, standing behind the door: …
Are you the ghost, or am I?
From the moment Yun Youyou reached the door, he had already opened his eyes and silently gotten up to hide behind the door.
He had seen her every move clearly, including her foolishly trying to phase through the wall over a dozen times.
At that moment, he seriously questioned this ghost’s IQ.
Seeing that Yun Youyou had spotted him, Ji Lin slowly emerged from behind the door.
His gaze swept past Yun Youyou and looked straight at the Male Ghost behind her.
The moment Teacher Huang was caught in that gaze, his hair stood on end. Instinct told him that the man before him was not to be underestimated.
If he devoured him, his power would surely increase significantly.
A greedy glint flashed in Teacher Huang’s eyes. A tongue suddenly shot out from his mouth, rapidly coiling toward Ji Lin’s neck as if intending to strangle him.
In the darkness, a cold glint flashed.
Then came a shrill scream, filled with pain and hatred.
Yun Youyou heard it clearly; the scream didn’t come from Ji Lin in front of her, but from Teacher Huang behind her.
Something hit the floor with a few dull thuds.
Using the faint moonlight from the window, Yun Youyou looked down.
Several segments of an unidentified red object lay on the concrete floor, fleshy and still twitching.
Behind her, Teacher Huang clutched his mouth in agony, blood pouring out incessantly.
His tongue had been cut off by Ji Lin.
Even though it was only the first night of the Game and the ghosts’ strength hadn’t fully recovered, for this man to cut off Teacher Huang’s tongue so easily meant he was likely a real powerhouse.
Yun Youyou was a total coward.
Seeing things weren’t going well, she began to retreat quietly.
This level of combat was not something she could get involved in.
With his tongue severed, Teacher Huang’s ghostly aura surged. Dark clouds obscured the moon outside, and the room plunged into pitch-black darkness where one couldn’t even see their own hand.
