Chapter 30
Chapter 30
His mood grew increasingly foul, his brow etched with a hint of violence and terror as his pent-up rage found no outlet.
The others were still staring at Yun Youyou.
Suddenly, a massive boom erupted from the room, sounding like a gas tank exploding.
Tao Jinran, who was closest to the door, jumped back in fright.
Did the Landlord pull out a bomb? Was he trying to blow them all to smithereens?
She looked back and realized there was no bomb.
However, the previously curvaceous inflatable doll had been reduced to a thin sheet of plastic, which the Landlord was currently grinding into the floor under his heel with savage intensity.
A flash of heartache crossed Shamate’s eyes.
That was his prized collection!
Yun Youyou patted his shoulder sympathetically. “It’s okay. Tell the Landlord to buy you a new one.”
Shamate: “…”
Do I look like I have the guts to make him pay?
Yun Youyou’s narrow escape this time was truly thanks to the ‘treasure’ Shamate had provided. It had saved her life at the critical moment.
“Where were you? Why weren’t you in the room just now?”
The Landlord stared at Yun Youyou with a sinister gaze. Having been played for a fool, he no longer called her ‘darling.’
Yun Youyou looked completely innocent. “I woke up covered in sweat, so I went to the bathroom to take a shower. When I came out, I saw you all gathered here. I thought something had happened, but I didn’t expect you all to be here watching an inflatable doll.”
The Landlord’s face darkened further, words squeezed through his gritted teeth.
“I was not.”
His illustrious reputation had been ruined by that inflatable doll.
“Right, right, right. You weren’t.”
Yun Youyou’s tone was dismissive and incredibly irritating.
Even though she was technically agreeing with him, the Landlord didn’t feel the least bit happy.
Seeing that the Landlord’s face was now as dark as Yama’s, Yun Youyou decided to quit while she was ahead.
“Oh my, my head is starting to feel dizzy again. I need to go back and rest.”
The others didn’t dare stay any longer either.
Tao Jinran stepped forward to support Yun Youyou’s arm. “Come, Youyou! I’ll help you up.”
Shamate followed close behind. “I’ll go pour you a glass of water.”
Shen Qingyu: “I’ll tell you a story to help you sleep.”
Wang Weiye: “I’ll go help you clean your room.”
No matter how ridiculous their excuses were, none of them dared to linger. They immediately grabbed Yun Youyou and bolted.
It wasn’t until they were inside Yun Youyou’s room with the door locked that everyone truly breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the room full of people, Yun Youyou asked in confusion, “Why did you all come in?”
Tao Jinran’s heart was still pounding wildly.
“I didn’t dare stay alone. I was afraid the Landlord would charge over and tear me in half.”
Everyone was still shaken by what had just happened; at this moment, they wanted nothing more than for the five of them to stick together like glue.
“By the way, did you find the Property Deed?”
Shamate was still most concerned about the Property Deed.
The group instantly looked at Yun Youyou with expectant eyes.
Yun Youyou’s shoulders suddenly slumped.
“Sigh… don’t even mention it.”
Seeing her dejected expression, everyone understood immediately.
Tao Jinran hurried to comfort her. “It’s okay, it’s okay. We’ll have other chances. This wasn’t our only shot.”
Shen Qingyu added, “The time was indeed a bit short today. It’s already impressive that you managed to get out safely.”
Shamate couldn’t stand to see Yun Youyou so discouraged. “Our Zang’ai Family must never give up easily!”
Wang Weiye felt anxious. He wanted to complain, but he was afraid of provoking the group’s ire.
Just as everyone was offering their comforts, Yun Youyou suddenly pulled a small booklet out of her pocket with excitement.
“Isn’t it a coincidence? While I was hiding in the wardrobe, I found it wrapped in a pile of clothes, tossed all the way in the back!”
Yun Youyou smugly produced the Property Deed, showing it off with a flourish.
Everyone else: “…”
Their hearts had been through a rollercoaster of emotions. Now that they were finally looking at the long-coveted Property Deed, they didn’t even feel that happy.
Tao Jinran looked at Yun Youyou and remarked gloomily, “Youyou, you really have a knack for the ‘subverting expectations’ trope.”
Despite her words, she still lunged forward and pulled Yun Youyou into a tight hug, looking like she wanted to pepper Yun Youyou’s face with kisses.
“Baby, you’re amazing! You actually got the Property Deed out!”
Overjoyed, the group hurriedly flipped the document open and immediately found the name of the legal owner.
???
Everyone’s expressions became complicated.
“So our Landlord’s name is… Ju Baopen?”
Tao Jinran had originally thought that even though the Landlord was a ghost, he was actually quite handsome.
But the moment she realized his name was Ju Baopen-a homophone for ‘Treasure Basin’-her interest instantly withered.
As expected, even the most handsome man could kill all desire just by having a tacky name.
Shen Qingyu didn’t care what the Landlord’s name was; she just wanted to leave this Instance as soon as possible.
She grabbed a ballpoint pen from nearby and handed it to Yun Youyou. “The longer we wait, the more things can go wrong. Change the name first.”
Yun Youyou took the pen immediately, intending to cross out the Landlord’s name.
However, the moment the ballpoint pen touched the Property Deed, the ink marks automatically vanished.
She scribbled for a long time, but not a single mark remained.
“What’s going on?! Can the Property Deed not be changed?”
Wang Weiye was nearly dying of anxiety.
Yun Youyou suddenly remembered that she seemed to have picked up a pen in the Landlord’s room earlier.
Maybe she should try that one.
Fortunately, the fountain pen hadn’t fallen out of her pocket while she was running away.
But a new problem arose.
The fountain pen seemed to be out of ink.
“Do any of you have ink?”
The four of them shook their heads in unison.
*Thud! Thud! Thud!*
Something was slamming against the door.
Luckily, they had blocked the door with a cabinet as soon as they entered.
The Landlord’s eerie voice sounded as if it were coated in a layer of frost, chilling to the bone.
“Did you people steal my things?”
He had sensed something was wrong earlier. Once his brain caught up, he had immediately gone to the wardrobe to check his hidden stash, and sure enough, it was gone.
It had to be these despicable thieves who stole his property!
Livid with rage, the Landlord vowed to skin these thieves alive and tear them into pieces.
While Yun Youyou searched the room for ink, she shouted toward the door, “Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law! I refuse to say a single word until my lawyer arrives!”
Outside, the Landlord’s fury intensified. He punched a hole right through the thick wooden door.
He glared at Yun Youyou through the gap in the door, his teeth gritted as he snarled, “Woman, you’re playing with fire!”
“So what? It’s not like I’ll wet the bed.”
Yun Youyou hadn’t expected him to break through the door so quickly.
Left with no choice, she bit her finger and squeezed her blood into the ink reservoir.
It actually really hurt.
The Landlord’s pounding grew even more violent. “You. Are. Asking. For. Death!”
Yun Youyou wailed dramatically, “Boohoo… Big brother, you’re so fierce! I love it!”
“…”
The other Players huddled together, trembling, their hearts filled with nothing but awe for Yun Youyou.
To be able to persistently provoke a ghost under these circumstances-Yun Youyou truly was the world champion of seeking death.
The battered wooden door finally gave way, collapsing weakly to the floor.
