Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Tao Jinran was scared out of her wits, her heart nearly leaping out of her throat.
However, she knew all too well that the more nervous and resistant she acted now, the more suspicious the Landlord would become.
“There’s no need, really. She should still be sleeping right now.”
Tao Jinran forced a calm smile.
Hiding in the kitchen, the others held their breath, not even daring to exhale loudly.
The Landlord wiped his mouth and gave Tao Jinran a cold, indifferent look.
“I should still go see her. Perhaps my presence will be very helpful for her recovery.”
The Landlord stood up and began walking upstairs.
Tao Jinran couldn’t find another way to stop him, so she had no choice but to follow hurriedly behind him.
It was over!
This time, it was truly over!
Only ten minutes had passed; Yun Youyou was definitely still in the Landlord’s room.
If the Landlord went to Yun Youyou’s room and found her missing, he would likely tear the players to shreds and chew them up on the spot.
Tao Jinran was already prepared to die, even going so far as to compose her final words in her head.
Hiding in the kitchen, Wang Weiye’s legs were shaking so hard he could barely stand.
“W-what do we do now? Are… are we going to die?”
Shen Qingyu glanced at him with a look of pure disdain.
“You’re shaking already? If the Landlord wraps his tentacles around you, won’t you be shaking even harder?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Wang Weiye began vibrating like he had Parkinson’s. If one didn’t know better, they’d think he had a tractor engine installed inside him, the way he rattled non-stop.
“Let’s follow them and see what’s happening.”
Though Shen Qingyu and Shamate were also afraid, they remained relatively composed.
Before Wang Weiye could even get a word of protest out, he saw the two of them already heading up the stairs.
“Hey! You two, come back! Don’t go up there!”
He shouted in a low, hushed voice, but no one listened to him.
Good grief!
He had never seen people so eager to go and meet their deaths.
Wang Weiye didn’t want to go up and die, but he didn’t dare stay down here alone either. Gritting his teeth, he followed at the very back of the group.

Yun Youyou had slipped into the room the moment the Landlord went downstairs.
Aside from being slightly larger than her own room, this place was much the same. The curtains were drawn tight, leaving the room in a pitch-black, cluttered state.
Fortunately, Yun Youyou’s eyesight was decent enough that she could barely make out the junk on the floor, preventing her from tripping.
Where would the Property Deed be kept?
Like a professional, Yun Youyou pulled a pair of white gloves from her pocket and put them on, meticulously ensuring she wouldn’t leave any fingerprints.
She searched everywhere, from the nightstand drawers to under the sofa, but found nothing.
She did, however, find a fountain pen on the desk, which would be perfect for changing the name on the deed later.
Yun Youyou slipped it into her pocket and continued her search for the Property Deed.
Just then, the faint sound of creaking came from the stairs.
That wasn’t right. Only ten minutes had passed. Was the Landlord coming back this early?
Yun Youyou didn’t dare be careless. She immediately returned everything to its original place.
If she tried to leave now, she would likely run straight into the Landlord.
Thinking quickly, Yun Youyou ducked into the nearby wardrobe, pulling a small trinket from her pocket and tossing it toward the opposite side of the room.
Just as Yun Youyou pulled the wardrobe door shut, the bedroom door swung open.
Light from the hallway spilled into the room, dividing the space into a sharp contrast of light and shadow.
Upon entering, the Landlord scanned the room with his eyes.
He didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary at first.
But then, the sound of fabric rubbing against the floor suddenly came from beneath the bed.
The extremely subtle noise sounded piercingly loud in the exceptionally quiet room.
The Landlord raised an eyebrow playfully and walked straight toward the bed tucked away in the innermost corner of the room.
So, the playful little kitten was hiding here.
Tao Jinran and the others stood outside the room, not daring to move an inch.
They prayed fervently in their hearts: Please don’t find Yun Youyou! Please don’t find Yun Youyou!
Just as the Landlord reached the bedside, a soft “click” came from the direction of the wardrobe, as if something had fallen.
The Landlord paused. He turned and took a step toward the wardrobe, but quickly pulled back and continued toward the bed.
Heh. That noise from the wardrobe was clearly the little kitten’s attempt at a diversion.
She had made that sound on purpose to lure him away.
Unfortunately for her, she was still a bit too young.
Feeling a sense of smugness, the Landlord bent down to look under the bed.
Seizing this window of opportunity, Yun Youyou floated out at the fastest speed of her ghostly life. Her heart rate soared to 180 as she moved so quickly that no one present saw her.
Everyone’s attention was fixed on the space under the bed; no one noticed the wardrobe leaning against the wall.
With a smile in his eyes but no mercy in his hands, the Landlord yanked up the bedsheet.
“So, my darling was hiding here…”
His words cut off abruptly.
Once the Landlord saw what was actually under the bed, his pupils constricted. After a moment of stunned silence, he flew into a rage and dragged the object out.
Tao Jinran covered her eyes, too afraid to look.
However, she waited for a long time without hearing the panicked screams she expected. There was no sound of flesh being torn apart or blood splattering everywhere.
Blinking in confusion, she opened her eyes.
She saw a curvaceous, well-endowed inflatable doll lying on the floor.
A doll?
Tao Jinran’s silence was laced with shock, and her shock was laced with bewilderment. It took a long while before a single phrase escaped her throat: “Holy crap?”
That phrase perfectly encapsulated everyone’s internal monologue.
Everyone looked like they had seen a ghost-except for Shamate, whose ears had turned a strange shade of red.
“So this is the Landlord’s ‘darling.’ While everyone has their personal hobbies and it’s not for others to judge, displaying it in public like this might not be appropriate. It could set a bad example for the children.”
A voice suddenly rang out from behind them, nearly making Shamate jump out of his skin.
He stared at the suddenly appearing Yun Youyou, nearly biting his tongue off.
*You-how are you here?!*
If Yun Youyou hadn’t given Shamate a sharp pinch from below, he likely would have blown her cover right then and there.
Tao Jinran and the others also looked at Yun Youyou with eyes full of shock and disbelief.
Earlier, when the Landlord said he was coming up to visit Yun Youyou, none of them had dared to stop him. They could only follow obediently behind.
As expected, Yun Youyou hadn’t been in the room.
The Players hadn’t even dared to breathe loudly, forcing themselves to come up with an excuse.
“Yun Youyou might have gone to the restroom.”
The Landlord had only offered a cold sneer before turning to head toward his own room.
The Players had thought they were about to become the Landlord’s next meal.
They never expected that Yun Youyou would miraculously reappear behind them now.
She was practically a magician, the way she could vanish and reappear like that.
The Landlord followed the sound of the voice and saw Yun Youyou craning her neck to peek inside.
His face instantly darkened, his eyes clouding over with a somber gloom.
Impossible!
Yun Youyou should have been hiding under that bed. How could she be standing out there perfectly fine?
The tentacles behind the Landlord’s back twitched restlessly, but constrained by the rules, he could only force himself to endure.
