Chapter 23
Chapter 23
“How about we just grab her?”
At those words, Tao Jinran shook her head so hard her neck almost snapped.
This female ghost might have crawled out of a well. If she had moss all over her, touching her would be absolutely disgusting.
Tao Jinran refused to use her hands no matter what.
Seeing that the female ghost’s entire body was about to emerge, Shen Qingyu stepped forward and slapped a talisman on her. “This can only stop her temporarily. She’ll be out again soon.”
Yun Youyou thought for a moment, then suddenly turned and ran upstairs.
Tao Jinran shouted from behind, “Wait! Where are you going?”
Shamate watched Yun Youyou’s retreating back with a look of confusion.
Even he wasn’t afraid of this female ghost, so why had Yun Youyou run away so quickly?
Hearing Tao Jinran’s exclamation, Yun Youyou replied without looking back, “I’ll be right back.”
A moment later, Yun Youyou rushed out of the room.
Her small frame was lugging a massive television.
“Why did you bring the TV from the room down here?”
Shamate was standing at the top of the stairs. Seeing Yun Youyou rushing over with the TV, he quickly scrambled out of the way.
The giant television blocked half of Yun Youyou’s body.
“Out of the way! Move it!”
Yun Youyou shooed away the people standing in front of the other TV and set the one she was carrying down.
*Thud!*
The television was surprisingly heavy. It wasn’t a modern LCD screen but one of those old-fashioned, bulky color TVs.
Tao Jinran stepped forward and tried to budge it, but it didn’t move an inch.
She looked at Yun Youyou’s thin arms in shock. “You’re actually incredibly strong.”
“But why did you bring the TV down?”
Everyone stood in a circle around the two televisions, unable to figure out what Yun Youyou was trying to do.
“I want to see if I can fight fire with fire.”
As she spoke, the female ghost in the first TV was getting closer and closer to the screen.
Yun Youyou quickly pulled a remote from her pocket and turned on the TV she had brought down from the room.
Sure enough, all the televisions in this villa shared the same temperament.
When first turned on, the screen was nothing but a blur of static.
Yun Youyou lunged forward and gave the TV a series of hard slaps.
The loud *bang-bang-bang* made both Tao Jinran and Shamate flinch.
Tao Jinran: …I think I might have misunderstood the definition of ‘fragile.’
Shamate: Violent women are truly terrifying!
Under Yun Youyou’s heavy-handed maintenance, the TV finally cleared up.
Yun Youyou straightened up and nodded with satisfaction.
Just as she expected, the TV from the room also contained a female ghost.
However, this ghost was sitting at a vanity, slowly combing her hair in front of a makeup mirror. She looked incredibly eerie.
The ghost at the mirror curled her lips into a malicious smile and slowly turned her head, intending to give the Players a face-to-face shock.
Hmph, she’d see if she couldn’t make these Players wet their pants in fear.
On the other side, the ghost from the well poked her head out of the screen again.
The two televisions were placed face-to-face.
Consequently, the two ghosts in the TVs were suddenly thrust into an unexpected face-to-face confrontation.
“Who are you?”
“Where did you come from?”
The two ghosts frowned, leaning back simultaneously as they eyed each other warily.
“None of your business where I’m from,” the ghost at the vanity said, rolling her eyes. “Anyway, these Players are mine now. You can beat it.”
The Wellside Ghost acted as if she had just heard a joke.
“Heh, who do you think you are? Ever heard of ‘first come, first served’?”
The ghost at the vanity threw her comb, nearly hitting the innocent bystander, Shamate.
She pointed at the Wellside Ghost and cursed, “Who do you think you’re fooling, sticking scallions up your nose to pretend you’re an elephant? You ugly freak, stuck in that well all day! I bet you were a toad in your past life. You’d better scurry back to your well and keep dreaming of swan meat!”
The Players, led by Yun Youyou, stood to the side, watching the ultimate showdown between the two female ghosts.
Tao Jinran admired Yun Youyou to no end.
Brilliant!
Simply brilliant!
The two ghosts could no longer vent their rage through words alone and soon came to blows.
They scratched and clawed at each other.
Because the two televisions were so close together, the space between them was extremely narrow.
The two ghosts were forced to squeeze their upper bodies out while leaving their lower halves inside the TVs to save space.
As the battle between the ghosts intensified, their long, black hair became the primary target of their attacks.
The Well Ghost grabbed a handful of the other’s hair.
“I’ll kill you today!”
The Dressing Table Ghost, not to be outdone, reached up and yanked her hair in return.
“You stupid bitch! I won’t die even if your whole family dies!”
In their fury, they seemed to have forgotten the fact that they were already dead.
The battle was fierce.
Before long, the air was filled with flying black strands.
The ground was a complete mess.
Looking at the clumps of hair on the floor, Yun Youyou couldn’t help but touch her own head.
Everyone present felt their own scalps tingle with phantom pain and quickly looked away, wincing.
Shamate was stunned.
He hadn’t expected women to be so ferocious when they fought.
He had originally thought Yun Youyou was the most violent female ghost in the world, but he hadn’t realized there was always someone stronger. At least Yun Youyou didn’t go around yanking people’s hair out.
But then he remembered that these two ghosts were only fighting because Yun Youyou had single-handedly made it happen.
Once he figured that out, Yun Youyou returned to the number-one spot on Shamate’s list of the most terrifying people.
Seeing that the two ghosts had fought enough, Yun Youyou finally stepped forward at a leisurely pace.
“Oh my! You guys, please stop fighting!”
Yun Youyou pinched her voice into an extra-sweet, over-the-top tone.
Shamate knew exactly how scary she was beneath that delicate exterior, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
To toy with two ghosts like that, right in the palm of her hand…
Scheming.
Way too scheming.
Shamate shifted his gaze to Tao Jinran.
Now she had to see how terrifying Yun Youyou really was, right?
Just as Shamate expected, Tao Jinran seemed to realize at that moment that Yun Youyou wasn’t as weak and harmless as she looked.
She stared at Yun Youyou, dazed, as if she’d taken a massive hit.
Shamate walked over in silence and patted her shoulder in consolation.
“Life’s like that. You never know someone’s true face until the very last moment. Good thing you can see clearly now-it’s not too late. From now on…”
Before he could finish, Tao Jinran kept staring at Yun Youyou and suddenly blurted out, “She’s seriously too kind-I’m literally crying! Youyou, Mama loves you!”
Shamate: ???
At that moment, he really wanted to rush over, grab her by the shoulders, and shake her awake while demanding, “Do you even have eyes?”
Tao Jinran had completely fallen into full-on mom-fan mode, looking at Yun Youyou with nothing but doting pride.
She practically wanted to announce to the whole world: My daughter is so kind!
When Yun Youyou turned her head, she saw the two of them standing behind her with completely different expressions.
Shamate looked like he was grinding his teeth in furious frustration, while Tao Jinran wore a warm, motherly smile-and even gave Yun Youyou a friendly little wave when she turned around.
