Chapter 20

His miserable screams could be heard from far away.

Shamate had been a ghost for a long time, but this was the first time he felt so bad for someone.

He looked at the culprit beside him with a complicated expression.

“What do we do now?”

Yun Youyou had already tucked the tools of her trade into her waistband. “He’s probably going to come knocking on our door. Be careful, don’t let anything slip.”

Wang Weiye’s wretched screams woke everyone in the villa.

The villa, which had been plunged into darkness, lit up once again as lights flickered on one by one.

Everyone opened their doors to see what was happening.

Yun Youyou also went downstairs, wearing her pajamas and shuffling in her slippers. “What’s going on?”

She even let out a perfectly timed yawn.

Watching her superb performance, Shamate’s lip couldn’t help but twitch.

The Ghost Realm’s Oscar definitely belonged to the person in front of him.

“There’s a ghost! There’s a ghost here!”

Wang Weiye was still shaken, his entire body tense.

Yun Youyou spoke calmly, “Wouldn’t it be weirder if there weren’t ghosts here?”

Seeing that everyone had come out, Wang Weiye managed to steady himself.

“While I was sleeping, I felt a series of cold winds and heard the shrill cries of ghosts. Fortunately, I woke up in time and dealt them a fatal blow. After I hit them, they fled in a hurry. I don’t know where they went.”

Yun Youyou and Shamate: …

You sure know how to brag!

He had been sleeping like a pig, snoring loud enough to shake the heavens, and was so scared he nearly pissed himself, yet he still had the nerve to brag about dealing a fatal blow.

Man, you really are a tough talker!

Shamate snorted. “You? A fatal blow? Looks more like the ghost dealt you a fatal blow.”

His pride wounded, Wang Weiye glared gloomily at Shamate.

“That ghost just now… it wasn’t you, was it?”

Everyone’s eyes turned to Shamate.

Shamate didn’t panic at all.

“Didn’t you say you dealt the ghost a fatal blow? Do I look like I’m dying to you?”

He could move, jump, and even talk back; he clearly wasn’t injured.

Wang Weiye gritted his teeth in secret.

If he’d known, he wouldn’t have bragged.

The five of them looked at each other, but no one seemed to be seriously injured.

Yun Youyou let out a lazy yawn. “Why would a ghost only target you and not anyone else? You should reflect on that. I’m going back up to sleep.”

Tao Jinran followed suit and returned to her room.

If it had been anyone else who was attacked, she might have been worried.

But as for this creep getting attacked, she couldn’t muster any concern no matter how hard she tried. She might as well go back to sleep.

Shen Qingyu gave Wang Weiye a silent look and left as well.

Only Wang Weiye was left in the living room, seething with rage.

Bitches, they were all bitches!

Wang Weiye stared resentfully at their retreating backs, a desire for revenge brewing in his heart.

Yun Youyou, who appeared to be the weakest, became his target.

He didn’t know what was going on with this Instance.

So much time had passed, yet not a single ghost had appeared. The only two “ghosts” causing trouble were actually Yun Youyou and Shamate.

He had no idea what the Game was playing at.

In the early morning, the piercing light from outside the window woke Yun Youyou.

For a dazed moment, she thought she had returned to the real world.

It wasn’t until she saw the thickening white fog outside that she realized she was still in this damned Game.

It was yet another day of a corporate slave cursing the Game.
Yun Youyou sat before her vanity, unhurriedly applying a beautiful layer of makeup.

As the saying goes, money earned from working isn’t real money; only the money you make while slacking off is truly yours.

Since Yun Youyou didn’t even have a salary, there was no way she was going to put in any real effort.

She changed into a long floral dress. The swaying hemline accentuated her slender figure, making her look like a rose blooming in the darkness-completely out of place in this gloomy, ghostly world.

On her way downstairs, she ran into a grim-faced Wang Weiye.

Even a ghost’s face wasn’t as dark as his.

Yun Youyou turned her head, pretending not to see him.

Wang Weiye hadn’t slept well all night, and his temper was at its peak. Seeing Yun Youyou dressed so youthfully and radiantly, with such a healthy glow, his anger spiked by another two hundred percent.

As he passed her, he let out a cold snort.

“How flashy. I thought some butterfly had fluttered in.”

Yun Youyou gave him a gentle smile. “Yeah, your daddy’s here.”

“You!”

Wang Weiye understood the pun immediately, fuming like a madman.

Yun Youyou didn’t even bother with him, continuing down the stairs on her own.

“And now your daddy’s leaving.”

This ‘daddy’ of hers came and went in a hurry, vanishing in the blink of an eye and leaving Wang Weiye fuming alone in the stairwell.

“Wow, your dress is so beautiful!”

Tao Jinran circled Yun Youyou repeatedly, unable to stop herself from exclaiming in admiration.

The Players she encountered in the Game were usually lucky if they didn’t look like a mess; she had never seen anyone as meticulously dressed as Yun Youyou.

Tao Jinran really liked this quality about Yun Youyou.

No matter where she was, she lived for herself and kept herself looking sharp.

Shen Qingyu spoke with a cold face, “Relying on beauty to please others-how long do you think that favor will last?”

Hearing such a familiar line, Yun Youyou almost thought she had traveled back to ancient times.

She turned to look at Shen Qingyu. “Better than you, at least.”

Shen Qingyu’s face darkened, and she fell silent.

Shamate stood by, watching Yun Youyou roast humans and ghosts alike. She was practically public enemy number one for both species.

Just then, a sudden noise came from the second floor.

Though the sound was faint, it caught everyone’s attention.

Everyone was currently on the first floor, so who could be making noise on the second?

Shen Qingyu was the first to stand, tiptoeing toward the second floor.

Tao Jinran shielded Yun Youyou behind her, also moving slowly upward.

The room where the noise originated was the one directly across from Wang Weiye’s.

“I don’t think anyone is staying in here?” Tao Jinran whispered.

Indeed, no one had seen anyone come out of that room, so they had subconsciously assumed it was empty.

They hadn’t expected a sudden noise to come from within.

Shen Qingyu placed her hand on the doorknob, but before she could turn it, the door was opened from the inside.

Her eyes sharpened, and she quickly dodged back.

The wooden door slowly creaked open.

Everyone held their breath, watching the door warily.

Yun Youyou felt a sense of suppression emanating from a ghost.

She exchanged a look with Shamate.

They both knew that the ghost inside was very powerful.

Since absorbing the Dean’s power, Yun Youyou’s strength had increased significantly, but she was still only slightly stronger than an average ghost. Facing a high-level ghost like this, she could only lie down and take the beating.

The door opened two-thirds of the way, and the figure inside began to emerge.

(A completely brainless, silly story)

Yun Youyou opened her eyes and found that she had inexplicably become an NPC in a Horror Game.
