Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Wang Weiye shook his head regretfully. “Women really need to learn how to cook. Otherwise, if you can’t capture a husband’s stomach, you can’t blame the man for straying later.”
“What’s the use of capturing his stomach? It’s better to just grab his ‘root.’ If he doesn’t listen, just chop it right off.”
Yun Youyou gave a sinister smile, making a chopping motion with her hand.
Wang Weiye shuddered, a cold sweat breaking out on his back.
This woman was a bit too ruthless.
Wang Weiye felt a phantom pain in his crotch and squeezed his legs together, forcing a smile.
“I just remembered I have something to do. I’ll be going now!”
The two watched him leave.
Tao Jinran gave Yun Youyou a thumbs-up. “As expected of you, the Root Killer.”
Root Killer Yun Youyou: …
This title was really unnecessary.
Tao Jinran’s stomach growled a few more times.
She turned a pleading gaze toward Yun Youyou. “Can you cook?”
“A little, but…”
Before Yun Youyou could finish, Tao Jinran grabbed her hand.
“It’s fine as long as you can. I’m not picky. I’m starving to death right now.”
Tao Jinran’s eyes shone with a light that made it impossible to refuse, looking at Yun Youyou as if she were a deity.
“Then… alright.”
Yun Youyou checked the ingredients in the fridge.
A moment later, she took out a tomato and two eggs.
“Is tomato and egg noodles okay?”
Tao Jinran nodded frantically.
Yun Youyou thought about the recipe for tomato and egg noodles in her head and started heating the oil in the pan.
She was probably the first NPC to ever cook for a Player.
Ten minutes later, Yun Youyou placed the bowl of tomato and egg noodles in front of Tao Jinran.
The noodles looked ordinary, but they smelled quite fragrant.
Tao Jinran took a deep breath, a look of satisfaction on her face.
It had been a day since she entered the Game, and this was the first time she had eaten a bowl of hot, delicious noodles.
Tao Jinran took a large slurp of noodles and looked up at Yun Youyou sitting across from her. “Aren’t you eating?”
After becoming a ghost, Yun Youyou didn’t feel hunger at all.
Even if she were hungry, she would have to eat other ghosts to feel full.
Tao Jinran suddenly looked at Yun Youyou with a look of realization. “Oh! I get it! You must be too scared to have an appetite, right?”
She thought she had discovered the truth.
“Don’t be afraid. The ghosts won’t come out right at the start. Even if they do, I’ll punch them away!”
Yun Youyou: …
My friend, I’ve been standing right in front of you this whole time.
She couldn’t even imagine what Tao Jinran’s expression would be when she found out she was a ghost.
After finishing the meal, the two sat on the sofa for a while.
During this time, no one else came downstairs.
Suddenly, Tao Jinran clutched her stomach in pain.
Seeing the cold sweat on her forehead, Yun Youyou thought a ghost was launching a sneak attack. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Tao Jinran stood up, clutching her stomach, her brows furrowed tightly. “It’s nothing. I just need to take a dump.”
She hurried toward the bathroom.
Only then did Yun Youyou feel relieved.
Then she realized she might have relaxed too early.
Within a short half-hour, Tao Jinran went to the bathroom five times.
When she came out for the fifth time, her steps were unsteady and her face was pale.
Yun Youyou rushed forward to support her. “Did you eat something bad?”
Tao Jinran was also bewildered. “But since I got here, I’ve only eaten the noodles you cooked.”
The two looked at each other and fell silent.
“I’m sorry, I forgot I’m a disaster in the kitchen.”
“No, it’s just that my stomach is too weak. It has nothing to do with your noodles.”
Seeing the guilt on Yun Youyou’s face, Tao Jinran quickly comforted her, afraid she would overthink it.
However, in her heart, she silently categorized Yun Youyou’s cooking as a top-tier biohazard.
Yun Youyou helped Tao Jinran back to her room to rest.
After tucking Tao Jinran in, she also returned to her own room.
The villa was very quiet at night.
Yun Youyou drew the curtains and found a thick fog outside; the entire villa was like an island in a sea of mist.
Was the Game trying to trap all the Players here this time?
Yun Youyou pondered for a moment before walking to the bed and lying down.
Just as she was about to close her eyes for some rest, a deafening blast of music suddenly reached her ears.
“Boom-tss-clap-tss! Boom-tss-clap-tss!”
The wooden floorboards creaked above her head, the thumping sounds feeling like they were stomping directly on her skull.
Irritated, Yun Youyou kicked at her blanket and covered her ears with a pillow.
However, it was useless; the intense rhythm was incredibly piercing.
Yun Youyou couldn’t take it anymore. She threw on a coat and rushed out.
It’s the middle of the night! How is a ghost supposed to get any rest with all this noise?!
Yun Youyou stormed up to the fourth floor and pounded angrily on the door of Room 403.
Even through the door, the blaring music was loud and chaotic.
“Who is it?”
An impatient male voice came from inside.
A few seconds later, the door opened.
Before Yun Youyou could even see the person’s face, she was blinded by his multicolored hair.
This eyesore of a Shamate hairstyle reminded Yun Youyou of the “school princes” from the Mary Sue novels she read as a child.
His hair had seven colors-red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple-and his skin was snow-white. She wondered if his eyes would change colors like in those Mary Sue stories.
Yun Youyou was terrified he would open his mouth and say, “Hello, my name is Nangong Mingye, heir to the Nangong Family. I can give you ten trillion dollars; please leave this place.”
Fortunately, the Shamate didn’t utter such Mary Sue lines.
He looked Yun Youyou up and down. A flicker of amazement flashed in his eyes, but it quickly turned into impatience.
“Who are you?”
“I am Ice-Butterfly Falling-Sakura Crystal-Glaze Purple.”
Shamate: “…”
Where did this psycho come from?
He stood impatiently in the doorway, one hand propped against the frame and the other in his pocket.
“Get the hell away from me, or don’t blame me for what happens next!”
Perhaps because he was blocking most of the light from the room, half of his face was hidden in shadow, making him look somewhat gloomy and terrifying.
Yun Youyou was all too familiar with this feeling.
Wasn’t this the typical aura of a ghost?
Yun Youyou said calmly, “As long as you quiet down, I’ll leave on my own.”
Shamate let out a disdainful laugh. “Who do you think you are, trying to tell me what to do? It’s your honor to be disturbed by me. I’m going to play my music as loud as I want. What are you going to do about it?”
Shamate looked at Yun Youyou provocatively.
A mere Player dared to come to his door and bark? Killing her would be as easy as lifting a finger.
Yun Youyou didn’t leave.
She asked with a polite smile, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
She had always advocated for peace.
But when someone slaps her in the face, she isn’t the type to turn the other cheek and ask for more.
