Chapter 13

Ji Lin neither agreed nor disagreed. He simply walked over to a wall and tapped it with his hand.

“Come out.”

Yun Youyou didn’t dare move.

What if Ji Lin was just bluffing again?

“If you don’t come out now, you’ll never come out again.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Yun Youyou scrambled out from inside, practically rolling and crawling.

As soon as she emerged, she saw the miserable state of the ghosts on the ground.

Several of them didn’t even have intact corpses left.

She didn’t want to die such a gruesome death!

Yun Youyou felt a surge of grief from the bottom of her heart.

With snot and tears streaming down her face, she threw herself at Ji Lin and grabbed his leg. “Waaaah… please let me go! I’m not like the other ghosts!”

Ji Lin’s lip twitched.

He hadn’t expected this female ghost to take such an unconventional path.

He tried to pull his leg away, but Yun Youyou held on so tightly that he actually failed.

Ji Lin looked down at the sobbing Yun Youyou. “How are you different?”

Yun Youyou looked up, meeting Ji Lin’s gaze with an expression of utmost sincerity.

“I… I have no dignity.”

Ji Lin: “…”

You’re certainly honest.

Wang Yuanyou and the others: “…”

They hadn’t expected this female ghost to be so unexpectedly honest. She really was different from the others.

Yun Youyou clung to Ji Lin’s leg, weeping as she spoke.

“To tell you the truth, I actually suffer from Intermittent Ghost-to-Human Syndrome.”

“What is ‘Sophistry-Human Syndrome’?”

Wang Yuanyou didn’t understand the term.

“It’s when, at specific moments, I experience a cognitive error regarding my own biological form. For example, right now, I’m not a ghost-I’m a human. So, you absolutely must not kill me.”

Now everyone understood.

So it wasn’t “Sophistry-Human,” but “Ghost-to-Human.”

Wang Yuanyou looked at the beautiful female ghost before him with an expression that was hard to describe.

He hadn’t expected her to come up with such a ridiculous excuse.

Liang Fei’s gaze toward Yun Youyou was filled with admiration.

He followed her lead and continued the conversation.

“Then this Sister Ghost isn’t a ghost right now, but a human, so we can’t kill her. Besides, she’s suffering from such a serious illness; she needs proper treatment.”

Yun Youyou nodded vigorously. “Yes, yes, yes! He’s right!”

Everyone’s eyes focused on Ji Lin.

Ji Lin used a bit of force and finally pulled his leg out of Yun Youyou’s grasp.

“Fine. I never said I was going to take your life.”

Hearing this, Yun Youyou’s eyes lit up, like a terminally ill patient who had suddenly discovered a cure.

“You’re such a good person! Don’t you worry, from now on in this Game, I’ve got your back!”

Ji Lin gave a cold snort. “I wonder who’s really looking out for whom.”

He thought for a moment, then pointed toward the pile of ghost corpses and said to Yun Youyou, “Go over there and eat them.”

“Huh?”

Yun Youyou’s mouth hung open in shock as she looked at the pile of corpses with resistance.

She swallowed hard. “Is this… is this the price for you sparing me?”

The price seemed a bit heavy.

For a moment, Yun Youyou didn’t know which was harder: giving up her life or gnawing on ghost corpses.

Ji Lin finally realized that this female ghost had just started her job and didn’t even know the most basic facts.

He didn’t feel like explaining much, so he stepped aside and gave Wang Yuanyou a look.

Wang Yuanyou immediately stepped forward to explain. “He’s not literally telling you to gnaw on those corpses. The ghosts here are like zombies; after they die, their entire power condenses into a wisp of energy. If you swallow that energy, you can gain their strength.”
Yun Youyou’s eyes immediately lit up.

If she swallowed the Dean’s power, wouldn’t she leap up to become a mini-Boss?

Perhaps because her thoughts were written all over her face, Ji Lin spoke up to shatter her fantasy.

“The absorbed power will be greatly diminished, so don’t fantasize about becoming that strong. You’re still a weakling.”

It was a bit of a pity she couldn’t become a big Boss, but getting a little stronger was better than nothing.

Yun Youyou was an optimistic ghost.

She hurried over, leaning in close to the Dean and trying to take a gentle breath.

Invisibly, a stream of energy really seemed to be drawn toward her.

Once swallowed, that energy instantly transformed into a surge of power; it felt like she could take on three burly men with one hand.

Yun Youyou smacked her lips.

This Dean seemed to taste like sauerkraut fish.

She turned around and inhaled the energy of another teacher.

Hmm…

This one seemed to be lollipop-flavored.

Yun Youyou was like a shark diving into a school of fish, treating it like an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Until only one ghost corpse remained.

Yun Youyou looked at Teacher Lu lying on the ground, feeling a bit reluctant to take a bite.

Actually, Teacher Lu had been quite good to her.

At that thought, Yun Youyou let out a long sigh.

Wang Yuanyou shook his head silently from behind.

Sometimes being too soft-hearted wasn’t a good thing, especially for a ghost.

Just then, Yun Youyou closed her eyes and muttered to herself, “As long as I can’t see, I won’t know it’s Teacher Lu.”

Having said that, she took a deep breath without any psychological burden.

Not a single drop was left.

It turned out Teacher Lu was strawberry-flavored, and surprisingly sweet.

Wang Yuanyou was momentarily speechless.

It turned out he had overthought it.

“Thank you for telling me something so important and letting me gain so much power.”

After finishing her meal, Yun Youyou floated happily over to Ji Lin, her lips curling into a slight smile and her beautiful eyes curving into crescents.

Ji Lin only gave her a faint glance.

“I’m just afraid you’ll be too weak to afford the necklace. Don’t overthink it.”

Yun Youyou puffed out her cheeks and whispered, “I won’t overthink it.”

“Let’s go.”

Ji Lin glanced at her, turned, and took the lead out the door.

“Sister Ghost, see you next time!”

Liang Fei waved enthusiastically at Yun Youyou.

The girl beside him also smiled and waved at Yun Youyou.

“We’re leaving now! See you if fate allows!”

Wang Yuanyou gave Yun Youyou a thoughtful look before turning to chase after Ji Lin.

He caught up to Ji Lin and gave him a playful punch with a mischievous grin.

“What’s going on? Weren’t you all lovey-dovey with Miss Ghost yesterday? Why are you being so cold to her today?”

Ji Lin’s expression remained calm. “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Wang Yuanyou wouldn’t let it go, draping an arm over his shoulder. “Are you shy? Honestly, Miss Ghost is really beautiful and cute. She must have had plenty of boys liking her when she was alive. Even if you really do like her, there’s nothing to be shy about!”

Ji Lin finally stopped and looked at Wang Yuanyou.

Wang Yuanyou stopped as well and asked in confusion, “What is it?”

“Since you like her so much, why don’t you stay behind to keep her company?”

Wang Yuanyou shook his head hurriedly.

“No, no, no! Forget it. I’m such a nuisance; staying behind would just be a bother to her.”

Ji Lin gave a light snort. “So you do know you’re a nuisance.”

Wang Yuanyou obediently shut his mouth.

After walking a few more steps, he suddenly turned around and ran back.

(A completely brainless, silly story)

Yun Youyou opened her eyes and found that she had inexplicably become an NPC in a Horror Game.
