My name is Yun Ruyi. I am the Dragon King’s Wife, and also a demon subduer.

When I’m not catching demons, I’m a perfectly ordinary college student.

Half a month ago, my school offered students the chance to volunteer as rural teaching assistants, and Shanglian Village was one of the placements.

And now, it seemed the Evil Children of this countryside village truly lived up to their name.

I slipped my phone back into my pocket, then grabbed an old tree root coiled in the dirt and leapt up with ease.

The children stared at me in horror.

Zhang Xiaolong, the biggest and strongest of them, flew into a rage and rushed over to snatch my phone.

I lifted my foot, kicked him to the ground, and stepped on his head. “What? What are you so scared of?”

“Weren’t you acting pretty pleased with yourself just now?”

Zhang Xiaolong started wailing like a ghost, thrashing desperately beneath my foot.

As he struggled, he cursed me out.

And he had a filthy mouth.

I glanced at my phone. “Zhang Xiaolong, Li He, Li Ya, Wang Shengnan… Not bad. I got all your faces nice and clear.”

I smiled darkly.

“You little brats, just wait to die.”

Those kids had never seen me like this before. They froze where they were, too stunned to react for a long while.

I kicked Zhang Xiaolong aside, slapped each of them across the face, then pulled down a long vine and tied them all up.

Children were surprisingly hard to control once they started struggling.

It took a solid beating before they finally settled down.

I walked over to a ditch nearby and washed the blood from my face.

Zhang Xiaolong stared at me in terror. “Your forehead… You… What are you?”

The wound that had been split open and bleeding a moment ago was now completely gone.

No wonder he was scared out of his mind.

I touched my forehead, smooth and good as new, and smiled at him. “What am I?”

“I’m the vengeful ghost who came back for revenge.”

The moment I said that, all the children fell silent at once. The expressions on their faces shifted again and again.

Huddled close together, they began whispering, and every word reached my ears.

“It’s her. She came back for revenge…”

“Shut up! It can’t be her. She can’t come back!”

“It has to be her… We’re dead…”

I raised an eyebrow.

This “her” they were talking about had caught my interest.

But no matter how I tried to draw it out of them, they refused to say another word.
